Personally, I like to remember that the people I'm hammering upon in PVP situations are, like me, just trying to play a game and have some fun. I can't "hate" the opposite faction because it's not composed of Dark Elves and Chaos and whatnot, it's composed of people who may not be much different from me in real life.
But, hey, I'm glad you can really get into it like that. Maybe I'm just disillusioned.

That would certainly explain it. Unfortunately for them, this game is actually more fun than throwing their forum vomit back in their faces, and WAR servers came up from maintenance early. That's gotta sting. Anyways, I'm off to play.

Don't give the kids anything sharp to play with, they might hurt themselves. Or on second thought, maybe you should.

The fact that Order turtles like they were born with a shell on their back in every single scenario where they can turtle it up with their 6 rune priests 4 archmages and invincible ironbreakers holding on to the relic/pacifier/flag like they would die in real life if they ever let anybody near it makes me despise them all the more.

I'll close this by saying this is quite a far cry from WoW where it didn't matter what faction you were on as you shared the same city and just kind of /waved and /danced with members of the opposing faction as if they were your butt buddies in real life.  I really enjoy the sense of "Omg if I see one more freaking Ironbreaker getting heal botted by 4 rune priests and 3 archmages as they hold the relic for 15 minutes at their spawn I will scream at my computer like the angry german kid..."
Mythic has nailed the whole feeling of cross faction rivalry as it should be.   I mean, I actually start to enjoy seeing the dead dwarves being tied to a cross in my Warcamps and tortured Empire citizens being chased by hell hounds in the Inevitable City, I think "Serves them right.", before I start to realize that I'm thinking this about a NPC for crying out loud.  Well done, loving it and I can only sense the loathing growing stronger as time goes by and we start battling it out for control of one another's city.   I really really want to see those Order players suffer and lose all their chips and will do what it takes to make sure my side is victorious.  I'm sure there are many Order players feeling the same way I would guess.

Well I wanted to play both factions but started off as order, them being underdogs and all... After a while I decided to check out how's it on destro side. It was kinda strange but basically ok until I found that DE quest where they're massacring elf war prisoners... I won't go into personal reasons (sadly I actually do have some) but lets say that really made the decision for me. I'm now Order all the way and I have no qualms whatsoever with utterly obliterating any destro player i find.

I play both sides.  My names are Urrelles and Valixta on both Chaos Waste and Avelorn.

I must say, I hate me a bright wizard.  Not because they are glas cannons.  It is because they overpopulate like rabbits.  They sound annoying everytime they cast a spell or get hit.  They look stupid, especially the females with their Dragonball Z hair styles.  It is extremely hard to keep them all healed.  They have no abilities that can save a healer (like me) from getting slashed to bits by a train of tanks.  When the train of tanks come chasing me, they all step out the way and our 1 singular tank has to try and stop them all.  Sadly a DoK could kill me faster than the average Bright Wizard.

What I hate are... THE people that complain about how childish the characters look on WAR. Anybody who has played Warhammer or Warhammer 40k THE TABLE TOP VERSION... knows that it look damn good. …..also quit comparing it to WOW. Just Shut-up, play, and quit stating the obvious!

To all the others enjoy…. so far, it is great! … (OOP’s I just stated the obvious)

Hmm, that's funny.  I have ALWAYS hated the Alliance in WoW that much.  The only game I've ever played that didn't seem to have that good vs. evil hatred, really, was EQ2.  I have to say, that playing EQ2, even HAVING opposing factions makes no sense, because the game does nothing to instill the animosity  that SHOULD be felt toward the opposite faction.

I'm assuming that you never played WoW on a PvP server, or RP/PvP server, or even a PvE server that was "feisty."  OUR server is very "feisty" and Alliance and Horde hate each other's very guts.  You do NOT see gnomes waving "hello" to Taurens or nightelves dancing with trolls.  Doesn't happen.  You DO however, see them flaming the hell out of each other on the forums because.....waaaah QQ....you evil mean Hordies killed 4 of our leaders last night in SW and IF.....boooo f***ing hooo.

So you're not entirely accurate by saying  WAR is a "far cry from WoW" in this particular regard, unless you're making that statement based just on the server YOU happened to play on.  It certainly depends on what server you are on, and the people that are there.

And before anyone gets their panties in a wad about me saying something positive about WoW, and maybe NOT so positive about WAR, let me inform you that I also played from the preview weekend up until now, although only to level 15 and RR gear, and I found Warhammer to not feel very immersive at ALL.  To me, it felt like CS Source wrapped in an MMO wrapper.  I felt like I was simply playing a game fighting other people playing a game.  For ME....Warhammer had no sense of immersion, and I never felt a real "hatred" for Order.  I was just busy trying to get the battle over with, gain some influence, renown and level, so that I could get to that next set of RR gear, rinse and repeat.  Oddly enough, this is how many WAR players describe how THEY used to feel in WoW BGs.  I didn't find scenarios to be much different than WoW BGs, other than they were a LOT smaller, and keep "raids" also felt about the same as raiding Stormwind or Ironforge except they were smaller as well.  (Granted, you get to use a "battering ram", and some other nifty little gadgets....meh.)

I guess the thing I found MOST "kewl" about Warhammer RvR is the effect that it has on the progression of your city, as your faction's gains affect the growth and influence of Inevitable City (in my case), or of Altdorf.  That's a nice touch.

Needless to say....Warhammer is now an unused icon sitting on my desktop and....

I'm playing WoW.   (Among numerous other games.)

Same in this thread as in all others......

People simply have different taste in games.  We're NOT ever going to all like the same game, and THAT....is a good thing.  Competition in the market, just makes games better for us, the consumers.

By the way....I did find a lot of things in WAR to be mildly enjoyable, and I do NOT think it's a "bad" game.  It's just not the game for ME.

Oh and when I played WoW at launch when all the Tarren Mill and other cities were a huge brawl I hated Night Elves.  I would ignore everyone else, run past full groups of alliance just to get to that one Night Elf, and it felt good to kill them.  I agree WoW did well with rivalry regarding World PvP.

Vanilla WoW was great but when TBC came out all they did is make the game autistic friendly. Warhammer is really good I like the RvR/Quest/PQ system and how they worked on the interface and I've never hated the other faction so much.

Wow, he played for a whole week and now it is an unused icon?

Most of my "unused" icons are ones that i have not touched in a month or more....

I have to say this is a very amusing thread. Those damn Order bastages need to all die from a barn fire when their Bright Wizards are doing their circle ----- in there :)

First of all, what man goes by the name girlgeek?  "Doo joo no hauw 2 reeeed?"  /rollseyes  So SHE didn't play for a whole week, and YES, with as many icons as I have on my desktop that I use daily, it makes the Warhammer one just a waste of pixel space sitting there.

Do I need to define the term "unused" for you?  It's an icon I'm no longer using, nor do I intend to use, thereby rendering it presently and permanently, from here on out....UNUSED.  Perhaps I should have called it a "previously used" icon.  Maybe it needed a little more clarification for you.  I do apologize for being so vague.   I know these complex sentences may be a bit challenging.  To make matters more clear, from now on.....I deleted the game today, so now it doesn't even HAVE an icon anymore.  That should be easier for you to understand.

Oh...and by the way...I played both Destruction and Order well in to tier 2, and played all the "chapters" in the other racial zones, apart from the Greenskin zone I started in on Destruction side and the High Elf area I started in on the Order side.  Neither side had much of a draw to me.  I felt like I was simply grinding for that next set of RR gear, because surprise surprise....good GEAR matters as much in this game as in every single OTHER game on the market.  It was all just....meh.

And last, but not least, why is it that the majority of people playing Warhammer that are on these forums, at least, act like complete little bi***es when you have ANYthing negative to say about their new toy?  Come on, that kind of behavior reminds me of when my son was four years old and a neighbor kid told him he didn't like the color of his new bike.  You'd think the world was shattering.  He cried like a baby.  Right now....it's pretty easy to remember how whiney he sounded.  I've been reading posts that sound just like it on the boards here.

I always try to say SOMETHING nice about Warhammer in my posts, because it does have a few redeeming qualities and I know the WAR fans get all testy when you just flat out and simply say that you just don't LIKE the game.  I have said a hundred times that there will never be a game that EVERYONE likes.  We all have different taste in games.  But I'm pretty tired of being congenial about it all, so I'll just tell you.....

I think Warhammer is a boring, non-immersive, CS Source-wannabe wrapped in an MMO fantasy wrapper, to attempt to convince previous MMO players that are currently bored with their favorite genre, that they are still indeed playing an MMOrpg, when in fact, they are playing a simple FPS along the lines of CS or perhaps Unreal Tournament.  You just get to use pretty spell effects instead of bullets.  /golfclap  The rpg aspects of the game, to ME, feel tagged on to what the game really is at the bottom line.  Yes, yes...I know....the game has ages and ages of lore.  Well that would be just "peachy" if it affected the way the overall game felt for me.  I still had no sense of suspension of disbelief whatsoever.  It came across as playing a game against other people that were....playing a game.  How thrilling.  /snore

I spent 50 bucks on the pre-order.  Don't you think I WANTED to like it?  I went in with no preconceived notions.  I knew nothing about the game, for the most part, other than the "hype" said it was going to be AMAAAAAZING.  Pfffffft.

So now after posting in about 20 threads saying some VERY nice things about WAR...I'm done with all that.  I will just be as cut and dried and nasty about it as most of the WAR players are on other threads about other games.  Some of you (example: the above poster I quoted) would rather defend your PET game, than have adult discussions about it.  All games have weaknesses and strengths, and WAR is no exception.  Even if it was technically "perfect" (whoever defines that), there would STILL be people who didn't LIKE IT.

Now is that they kind of vague and generalized statement that you would PREFER I post?

Edit:   I can just HEAR the flaming firing up.  I'm sure someone will post and say something along the lines of, "You need to play at LEAST in to tier 3 to really get a feel for the game and for it to start really 'kickin' in'."  Yeah, well....I've seen this argument before.

To ME....a GOOD GAME is a game that is FUN straight out of the box.  When I hear, "Oh it gets better...." that kind of comment just says to me that the game wasn't planned very well then.  If you can't grab someone within the first few levels even....there's a good chance you're going to lose them before the time when "it gets better."  I don't want to have to play through a myriad of lackluster crap to get to "the good part."  If I'm still PLAYING a game....it's because for ME that game was fun right out of the box, and it kept me interested enough to KEEP playing.

Hmm, that's funny.  I have ALWAYS hated the Alliance in WoW that much.

What a coincidence, i do too..

    And i play Alliance..

I've always liked the more "evil" races even if they're not evil per se (as is the case in WoW for example) and i actually started as a Troll Shaman in WoW and leveled it all the way to 50 before i realized none of my friends would abandon that goddamn alliance, which made me switch side to play with them (a little part of me dies everytime i play my wimpy male human priest, but it's something i plan to remedy when i start playing WAR)

You know what it made me hate? Not having time to play it a lot more than I currently can.

  • I was in an RVR area last night in some tombs. As I rounded the corner a lone bright wizard came around with just a smidgen of health limping out. My hand almost if by instinct sliced him in one hit thus saving him the trip. See we Destruction can be nice guys.

You know I must be getting old, not nearly as old as you of course; I mean I've got a few more years before menopause (sp?) would kick in (that is, if I was a woman).  I was going to make a comment about how novel it is to see a woman bitching because someone doesn't agree with her, but I thought twice and decided to keep it to myself.  At least I tried.

I hate shaman, with a passion.  Desto healers in general; they can all burn.

    On the internet? ...seriously?!

I rather enjoyed your rant.    (No offence, I lol'd at how overboard you went)

Warhammer is most certainly not a perfect game but alot of people think its fun as hell. As Do I. If nothing else, competition is great. This genre needs real competition!

Also, I'm sure you'll find devoted followers defending their favorites on just about every game's forum here with plenty of flames to go around, not just Warhammer.
