Darkfall: Beta Update

SzarkSzark News ManagerMember Posts: 4,420

The folks at Darkfall have made a small announcement about the current status of their beta test. Currently they are letting testers in based on hardware configurations so they can test how Darkfall runs on different machines.

Hello, this is a small update on our current activities:

Since September the 22nd we've been running tests to make sure that Darkfall runs properly on a variety of hardware configurations. Any external people are being selected strictly by their hardware configuration and are selected and let in gradually. Absolutely no other criteria come into play other than hardware. Also, we are not playtesting. If you are selected for this hardware test you will be notified by email to the address associated with your Darkfall community forum account.

Once we've concluded this phase, we will gradually allow more people in based on various other criteria associated with the testing needs. We may not announce the start of every phase. All the testing up to the open beta phase is protected by NDA.

    Failware?

After all the arguments against df fans for claiming it will be great when it is not out yet and now you think you are allowed to just assume what it will be like?

Im realy hoping to get an mail soon :) But when they say their looking for certain hardware, I guess it will mainly be looking at people wih low-end pcs, so they can check the minimum specs for the game :/

are you serious? really you havnt even seen a game play video outside of the trailer which was really good and you say it sucks. people like you are the people who ruin the genre want to know why? you say what ever you can to make every other game fail other than the one you are playing by going on forums for hours a day saying how much a game sucks even though you know very little or nothing about it.

It's not real software till it's released... that said I'm thrilled they are finally going to hit Beta.

As to your comment: You are still an idiot for claiming it will be 'great' when you haven't played it yet. I'm just as excited as any other person who's been hoping that this would actually reach a beta state but I'm not about to shout that this is the greatest thing since sliced bread until I actually have a few weeks playing it under my belt.

More smokescreens from Adventurine....again some of you jumping on the bandwagon take their word for it.  Sorry most of us operate in reality.

While I am still a bit skeptical based on previous experience (clan beta starting soon!  3 years ago!), there have been nothing but positive things going on with this game recently.

Maybe, just maybe, it will get enough things right that we'll have a real MMO on our hands here, for the first time in years.  WAR was it for me--I can't play another American ez-mode cookie-cutter MMO, they make me ill.

Hopefully i'll get into the beta at some point.

Wrong Tarim. I never made that claim. I was only pointing out that many people have taken to bashing df fans for assuming things about the game and now that same group is assuming it will fail.

And Ozmodan: What makes your version of reality better than anyone elses? If you have special knowledege that no one else is privy to than please reveal it.

Sorry, I can't help if some of you go off the deep end.  Adventurine has been announcing things then delaying them forever.  NO one has actually played this game beyond the developers.  NO one has really seen it.  Has not been seen at any shows, has not been reviewed by any journalists.

Point proven.  I have been following this game for years,  If you are not a bit skeptical yourself you are a bit naive to say the least.

Until we actually get reports of people actually playing this game it is the same old Adventurine throwing hype and fluff at those of you begging for it.

So yes, despite some claims to the contrary, it is still vaporware.

Fool.  They are already inviting people.  Non-company people.  That means it is no longer vaporware.

We will not get "reports" of people playing, because of the NDA.  Until it is lifted, or until you yourself get into the beta, you will know not one thing about how the game plays.  Aventurine is not really large enough to have a show presence, and we will likely see player reviews when the NDA drops sooner than journalist reviews, as this is not a big-name title.

You're like a guy standing on the ground during an air-show, fingers in his ears screaming "LALALALALA NO WAY PEOPLE WILL EVER FLY LALALALALA" while planes whiz over you head.

Funny how all this silly hype about a game NO one has seen gets people so upset.

When Adventuring produces the goods and we have some actual reviewers looking at it, you can then get excited about the game.  Until then I suggest you don't be so naive and jump on a bandwagon that may or may not exist.

I'm still a bit careful about this game, at least until the beta is running and we got a real release date.

Right now my hopes are in Spellborn (and Guildwars 2, but thats more based on the programming team there, their past games talks for themselves, GW, Warcraft 3, Diablo 1).

Anyone knows any games the DF guys or some of them worked on before?  Usually hints on how well they van program a game.

I would not call DF vaporware but Im always careful...
