Guild Taxes: What % is reasonable?

I run a small guild. 30-40 active players, most of us are under level 20.

What is an okay % to have as tax for a normal guild like this in your opinion? I currently have 1% but we did some calculations and was thinking to increase to 5%. Bad part is as i started with such a low tax this change going to seem huge for the members. Have talked to some and none really see 5 as a bad % to tax on, but want to hear what the public says about things like this.

Of course this varies on what type of guild you are in and what the goals of the guild are.

What does the Guild need taxes for in Warhammer? Other games I can see it but havn't seen where money is really an issue in War.

For us in our guild its used for rvr stuff, standards and the like so individuals dont have to pay when the guild goes to war.

We use 5%, that works perfectly. You hardly notice it and guild gets enough coins also.

Considering how easy it is to make money in this game without having to put forth to much effort, I would probably say 5%-6% is a reasonable level given the size of the guild. The trash loot you receive just randomly killing things nets a decent profit in a short amount of time. In just 2 days of playing made 25g on just random armor to the AH and vendor junk.

Considering its only from looted corpses which don't give much anyway 50+%

i have never believed in guild taxes or forcing people to pay them if you do have them but i guess it would be different in WAR, in other games money gets built up for the guild from raiding, not sure how else a guild in WAR would have money unless people pitched in.

Our guild has it set at 2%, and the individual can set there tithe.  I have my tithe set at 15%, I think some other guildies have their tithe at 25 to 30%

    NO MORE NEW TAXES!!!

  • NeikoNeiko Member UncommonPosts: 626

Our guild is at 5% and you can set the tithe to something high if you really want to contribute that way to your guild. We have at least 2 G just from that 5% and some tithe on a few of our members.

100% Haha. Nah joke aside, I wouldn't charge more than 15%

Think im gonna go with 5% for now, its not bad and can revise that later on if we notice guild needs more money.

It is a huge factor in in Warhammer online.  Damn keeps along are 5 gold an hour to claim.  What's the need for taxes?  lol goodluck keeping that keep or castel if you aren't taxing your guildmates :)

I voted 5%, that's what our guild uses and I think that's fair.

My guild charges 15% i didnt realise at first and when i found out how much i was a bit miffed at how much they where taking, when i quized with what will the guild be spending it on i was met with blank faces..'don't know, but I am sure it will be expensive' strange as it sounds i was pleasently suprised that they did not try to lie about what to get and felt more relaxed that eventually the money would be put to more use somewhere.

But what completely relaxed me was when i saw that a mount cost 15gold at lvl 20 and at level 15 i currently have 17 gold even after taxes, so i dont see how the tax is an issue yet.

Once you get to level 11 money really starts to come in and you have a lot more money then what you really need at that time.  By level 20 I had 30 GP, well 29 and some odd silver.  That was with a 20% tax.

It costs 6g per hour to hold the keep, can your guild afford it? Do you want to be in a guild that cannot afford to capture a keep?

QFT... and thats for a T3 Keep the T4's are more than that.  I don't have my finger on the exact number at the moment, but we ran around claiming Keeps in T3 when the guild hit rank 15 I believe and quickly saw our Guild bank account go to zero in no time flat.  We agreed to set it at 50% and then I also add 20% tithe because it only comes from looted mobs and not vender sales or quest rewards and after you have your rather cheap mount, what do you really need it for? Crafting mats maybe...but I don't craft and i can still afford that off piece of gear out of the AH if i need it.

  • GuddigGuddig Member Posts: 8

We're looking at 10% here.  That's enough in my mind to force people to pay, anyone can add to that with the tithe, a nice system.

  • Taxes only apply to looted money.  By far the majoity of money gotten by quests and selling stuff.

100% taxes do not cover eveyone.  Also it depends because you could just have higher levels Tithe and have 0% taxes so that lowbies are not burdened

Note: tithes are currently bugged and will inconsistently work or not work after certain events and require constant resetting.

Any guild charging less than 50% doesn't understand the cost of caputring and holding a keep.  That being said, our tax is 70% and no one has had any problem with gold.  As others have said, it's only on looted bodies.

  • ZertyrZertyr Member UncommonPosts: 263

I will just keep it at 5% until we become more steady and people realise the money that will be needed for keeps. Thanks for your input people!

I voted the 1-5% range because our guild charges 5%.  We have 66 members currently and we make a decent amount of coin for the guild at 5%.  Honestly they could raise it to 10% and I would still be happy.  I would accept up to 20% even as we all gain lvls.  For a new guild with few members and/or a lot of low lvl toons I think 5% is a good start.
