Just curious Tenspotting... What got under your skin so much about this game that you've become obsessed with something you claim to hate?

Is it something about PvP and skill opposed to the same MMO garbage rehashed?

You think just because people code their own software that it's going to be bug free?
Let me give you a reality check.
THERE WILL BE BUGS IN THIS GAME AND TONS OF THEM
LIKE IN EVERY OTHER GAME RELEASED EVER! Wow, i'm sorry that Aventurine can't deliver a 100% bug free game for you, sir.
This is not my personal opinion - this is 100% FACT.
Haha, like i haven't heard that before about the video, about the PR, about the beta...
And in reality (not in Darkfall fanboy dream land) (i c wut u did thar) this game will have even more bugs and issues than one that was built using proven / tested tech like Hero Engine or Big World.
The technology these guys built is totally unproven in every single aspect.
You "CANNOT" test a piece of software for bugs and issues that is basically on the same scale as an operating system and is meant to be used by thousands of people with a handful of people sitting in some office room somewhere.
Because through all those years they haven't ever tested their technology or fixed cruical bugs and are leaving the first tests for the Open Beta? All the people in the fights in the latest video were multi-boxers in Tasos' basement i guess. But no wait, it was actually all made with a cheap simulation program since the game is so buggy it can't actually run!
The total ignorance and blind optimistic following this game has is completely dumbfounding.  The fans of this game have totally lost all common sense and reason because they want this thing to succeed so badly.
Did we by accident sacrifice your dog to Tasos in one of our midnight rituals? I'm sorry if we did, but it was for The Greater Good.
Your just setting yourselves up for some major let downs with this way of thinking.
Let down or not, Darkfall atleast proved that there's a market for this type of MMOs. Plus, Forumfall is better than any MMO out there atm.

Also, GEAR and anything similar will not work in Darkfall.  If you studied the game at all you would know this - one of the Devs was Black Rose from Darktide on Asheron's Call (you should know this since apaprently you still play it) and one of the biggest problems with that game was all the gearing going on.  It is specifically being programmed so that such exploits will not function.

You have a superiority complex.  Seek help.

Saying "Gear and such will not work in Darkfall".. And also talking about programing shows.. you don't get it yourself.   Black Rose don't play Darktide anymore.  Were you referring to Black Rose Noble?  Did you even play Asheron's Call?  How would you know what the biggest problem was?..

And Bugs WILL be found.  It doesn't matter how meticulous you are,  people will find a way to use soemthing that you never thought of.

Release delays are to be expected when trying to produce something as complex as a MMORPG.

I would think the followers of this game would be pleading for Aventurine to take all the time they need with a fully-sized beta and not just rely on their 'professional beta-testers' (aka Internal QA department)   We've seen too many MMORPGs fail miserably because they had short betas and relied too much only on internal testing.

It's better to release a game late than push it out just to meet a deadline.

Of course, the beta has yet to start in spite of false claims roaming around that it has.   Aventurine has until the end of the month and there's far less excuse to delay the beta.

I kinda like the mystery factor but people wont fork out $60 with no beta reviews or videos.

You such uninformed or you like spread lies.

There is official announcement in official news section with

    TRY BEFORE BUY  !

This will ensure you don't have to pay anything EVEN if you not participated in whatever beta or read opinions of others.

Better read up official forums before making things up, eh ?

So I am assuming that DF will somehow manage to complete the following list before the end of the year without any issues:
    1. Announce an actual date for a public Beta to start which they do not even have yet 3 months from a supposed commercial launch which in itself is beyond hilarious but......moving on.
    2. Meet that Beta date and actually start a Beta.
    3. Fix any issues that may a pop up during that Beta.  This game and it's tech have NEVER been tested in a real world environment yet with thousands of concurrent outside connections.
    3. Announce an actual date for commercial launch.
    4. Meet that date and launch.
All in the next 3 months. Sounds funny. Yes?
I'll let you imagine the type of madness that will ensue when / if they actually finally decide to grow a pair and allow thousands of people from the public to play test this and write their reviews.
I'll be here with my pop corn when that happens.

The keyword here brought out by the OP is "assuming". For the love of god, stop ASSUMING! Seriously, the OP and everyone else needs to stop their whining and crying. Aventurine will have Darkfall in beta and release the game when they are good and ready, period.

Unil then, shut up about it and wait patiently, like the rest of us. Sitting here posting nonsense like this isnt going to force Aventurine to release it any faster. No matter what you think, its not! So just shut up already!

They will release the game when they are ready. I have been watching this game for years so don't expect it to come out this year. It will definately be released in 2009 and it might be released in 2008. It all depends on when they are ready to release.

I have a superiority complex....odd thing to say.  I wonder what part of my discussion of pragramming suggests I don't get it?  You'd be hard pressed to find a professional programmer who did not understand exactly what I was trying to convey to you.

I played AC back when the mercs KoC, Mikey, DD, BR, Blood, etc. etc. played and then picked it back up a couple times after that.  I was in Black Rose's (yes, Noble) clan for a period.  I'm not going to ask when you started or how long you've played because frankly I don't care.  I played before gear, watched it evolve, and played after it came to its final accepted state and well beyond.  Many players left when gearing and a host of other issues muddied up the game, and Black Rose (yes, Noble) was one such disillusioned player now turned Darkfall developer.  One of the primary reasons he became so dissatisfied with that and other games, and thus so motivated to create Darkfall, were those exact shortcomings.  He has stated this himself.  How many other games can you find where the Devs specifically went out to create the game because they themselves were gamers fed up with other game's exploits?  It's not something you see because the MMORPG industry is generally run by giant corporate moguls these days.

I have never said "bugs will not be found."  All I said is that there will be fewer and they will be remedied with greater ease and speed than many comparable games.

Yes, i actually think this is possible. I have been following darkfall for quite some time, and they are near-feature complete. once closed beta begins, it should only last a few weeks, then open beta stress testing begings. yeat again, this should only take a few weeks.

    i see no problem

The question is WILL THIS GAME BE OUT IN 3 MONTHS.

That answer is NO.  NO WAY IN HELL.  MMORPG didn't just make up a date (or a year)..

Talk about releasing a game late?? This game has been in development for YEARS.. The thing is, they had screen shots (and a video?) back in 2002 or 2003..

NO WAY IN HELL! I DON'T LIKE THE IDEA OF THIS GAME! GAMES I DON'T LIKE CAN'T BE RELEASED IN 2008! I AM THE MASTER OF TIME AND SPACE!

Stop typing in caps. Also, stop being reactionary. The game's going to be released this year. AoC was doing bug tests and hardware tests in open beta, getting crappy results from the masses, and released 2 weeks later. It was fail, but it released.

Servers have been setting up across the N.A. and Europe for a while, all they have to do is throw the thing in stress tests, ensure proper networking, and go with it.

    Oh good, I like ketchup.

Honestly if open beta starts soon as many claim I don't care when official launch is.

    (EDIT)

Oh and looking back at it you weren't really abusing the all caps thing. Sorry for getting on your case for it.

I feel sorry for the darkfall fans.

I doubt this game is coming out until it goes gold. Is there a light at the end of this long tunnel?

Im wondering how the investors feel.........

Played : WOW, LOTRO, COH/COV, EQ2, SWG, and WAR.
    Playing EVE Online and AOC.
    Wtg for SW:TOR and WOD

You're welcome to ask the government of Greece how it feels.

Meanwhile, you're absolutely right. In fact, the game can only come out after it has gone gold. A = A, nice logic work there.

Definition: When a game is said to have "gone gold," it means that the code has been finalized and is ready to be duplicated for distribution. The term goes back to the days when recordable CDs were manufactured using gold film, leading the source CD to be called the "golden master." Unlike the music industry, it is not a reference to the number of copies sold. It will typically take several weeks for a game to ship to stores and become available to consumers after it has gone gold.
