Nope, the game was a let down for me. I don't like instanced PvP which seems to be the bigger part of the game but in fact isn't - actually there are around only 16 battlegrounds and around 36 keeps in the game (more than the double). I don't find any of the classes really interesting me and there isn't much content in the game even compared to other MMOs on launch day there is still locked content (capital rank), maybe you don't know what you're talking about(no, doing the same scenarios and PQs over and over again doesn't count as content) 22 chapters x 3 = 66 PQs per race. That is 66x3 + 4 (capital's PQs) = 202 PQs per faction. So why do the same PQs "over and over" again? 404 PQs doesn't count as content?. Siege weapons are pretty crummy too compared to DAoCs siege weapons I agree completely. Eh, I could nitpick at the game all day long, but that wont solve anything. Bottom line is that the game isn't what I had hoped it to be. It's just AoC all over again for me. Hopefully you other guys can enjoy the game.
I really really wanted open battlegrounds instead of instanced ones. I'd even prefer if they took the battlegrounds off and just left the RvR areas instead - way too many people are just doing battlegrounds all day and leaving the RvR field empty.

its alright but the game is empty and feels barren. everything is like a card board box too, go this way, go that way, i liked teh openess of wow a bit more.

This is just factualy incorrect. WAR has one of the most crowded, overfilled game worlds of any MMO. There isn't a single spot that is empty or barren. If it isn't filled with a PQ, its packed with roving mobs and quest points, or NPCs, or open world RvR capture points.
At least play the game before you start attacking it.

Its more then i expected.Im not a fanboy and didnt expect much i just knew you were supposed to be able to level and gte gear through pvp and thats all i cared about.I loved WoW but didnt have the time to invest due to family and work.I just wanted to be able to compete on a level playing field gear wise without having to raid and it did that for me so far.Im having fun thats all that matters.
Although, looking at your xfire signature...
you've already racked up 39 hours on it this week? you must not like your family and work
But same here, loving the gameand resubbing and hell, even GOA is doing ok too...
Yeah, good assessments of WAR's prospects based on what I've seen. I think, based on the kind of grip good world PvP has on people, they'll capture a lot of players who just want WoW with better PvP. Add some casual players who like the PQs and the smaller winged dungeons, some of the folks who want WoW without the ZOMGESPORTS and a smattering of Warhammer TT freaks, and they're good to go.
I don't know though, I think there may be more casuals who have spent
their time getting bored of BGs in WoW, itching for some new game with PvP
than people expect. Accepted wisdom, of course, says any PvP game is going to be in a niche of a niche.
War might sell a million or two, but I doubt they'll break old EQ level subs of 4-5 hundred K after launch settles out. I think Mythic should be happy with that, though - they're a fairly small company and $7 Mil a month in sub fees is nothing to scoff at.
Its pretty much what I expected, and I based my expectations on how I was told it would be by Mythic. I never hyped up the game in my mind past what I was told. A game rather than a virtual world, epic scale, pvp advancement, fun from lvl 1 rather than starting at endgame, 100+ person siege battles, rock paper scissors class balance, stylish graphics but not mindblowing, playable on mid and high end rigs. As far as I can tell, this is exactly how it turned out. So thumbs up for them telling the truth about whats in their game and what isn't.
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence. Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.
i enjoy the game but i wish it were more like daoc. the rvr skills, amount of positionals, chain combos, not needing a siege pad, keep wall breaking and ability to repair made the game alot more fun and interesting.
Pretty much what I expected. It is a great game, exceeding most of my preconceptions, especially with PvE which is utterly great. Yes, it is - the PQs combined with open groups are an absolute godsend and I can't really fathom how I managed to torture myself into all that LFG-ing and 2-hr trash cleaning sessions.
Additionally class synergies and customizations from mid level onwards are a very pleasant surprise. Group play is a joy in this game because almost any 2-class combination is viable and almost unique in playstyle. Scenario design is very imaginative and really very well thought out (except the infamous Tor Amroc that is )
On the other hand I didn't expect that world RvR is going to be so lackluster. However this is mainly due to bad scenario/world xp gain rate which is easily fixed. When the devs put some better rewards for open RvR this game will be just about perfect for me.
The poll isn't a suprise to me. I've suspected that about half of the geniouses writing to these forums aren't playing any game, just disgussing about them. This poll somewhat confirms that thought.
im subscribed to L2 and WoW atm, your accusations/suspicions were wrong. And the people who said they arent staying subscribed, doesnt mean they arent playing another game.
65.9% of the people who answered the poll are subscribing for another month
34.1% are leaving...
the results are pretty interesting, these numbers are almost what i expected them to be.

You have to keep in mind that a large majority of the people here that talk trash about war only played the free beta week, and never had any intentions of playing warhammer.
There is a small portion of the current subscribers that will 100% go back to wow when the expansion is released.
Aside from that, a majority of the subscibers want a solid RvR game, and war delivers that quite well.
Really on these forums you see about 10% actuall players and 50% who tried the free week. The remaining 40% never played and never plan to, but think their opinion will sway people away from war and to what ever game they support (usualy AoC, Darkfall, WoW, or Eve)
in fact i would put money that about 15-20% of the people who voted that they are leaving dont even play...thats how mature these forums are.
So WoW is actually a AC2 clone and nothing more. Suck on that!
B-but I actually liked AC2. It had a unique alien world with odd races and awesome classes. WoW is just a big compilation of everything we've seen since Tolkien.

Yes but do you recognise the UI?

Nop, we can indeed.
Because we're not judging what they'll change, it's the core mechanics we're accusing.

Let me guess, your accusations go a little something like this.....
RvR is Bland.
PvE is Boring.
PQs are cool, but Boring.
No one Chats.
STOP WHINING!
i think that would be the "no, but im going to give it another month" option.
The poll is very balanced, kind of surprising.
Yes, clever poll
I THINK i would have continued playing if it wasn't for the bland PvP and the non-stop go and fetch me testicles kind of quests
It absolutely fails in giving me an experience different from WoW, it feels and plays like another clone, AoC, Lotro, Tabula rasa, EQ2.
eq2 is not a wow clone, its the outher way around.. wow is a eq clone
Well, since EQ 2 and WOW both launched about the same time, I guess they are both EQ clones

Yup, so far the only descriptive judgement I've seen from most is the chat system is bad. Other than that, nothing but generalizations. No detail.

It really has exceeded my expectations. I haven't had this much fun, with such a desire to log in, since old EQ.
Will certainly stay subbed.

I was expecting huge battles with hudreds of players struggling on each side.
What I got was a Arathi Basin and Warsong Gultch grind fest.
None of the scenarios even came close to matching AV.
No, finding it hard to keep playing but im going to try and stay until the end game to see if thats fun.

eq2 is not a wow clone, its the outher way around.. wow is a eq clone
Sure, WoW took stuff from EQ, but EQ2 took stuff from WoW. Basically... the quests system and the whole interface.
No, WoW took most of its stuff from the forgotten Asheron's Call 2 (the UI and the quests) nothing from EQ and EQ2.
EQ2 is a unique game, it didn't even resemble the first EQ which migh explain why it faired so poorly in the eyes of the fans.
So WoW is actually a AC2 clone and nothing more.
Suck on that!
On the topic... I expected more from Warhammer than I got, perhaps the first game studio would have done a better job if they hadn't ran out of money?
B-but I actually liked AC2. It had a unique alien world with odd races and awesome classes. WoW is just a big compilation of everything we've seen since Tolkien.
