What game got you started into the MMO world?

    Ultima Online.  It played when it was first released and kept playing for almost 2 years.

    I had so much fun playing, I was totally addicted.  Some people say Everquest was addictive, but UO started that trend . . .

    UO since it was released... first and best MMO experience up to this day... still waiting for something that innovative. You had so much interactions with the objects and NPCs in that game. Community was great and GM events were awesome, hence even Player events were awesome. Too bad EA screwed it up for money... but still, nothing beats old school UO yet.

    Ascheron's Call I for me.

    I won a Southpark Trivia contest online. A copy of AC was one of the prizes. I remember being so disappointed that I "HAD" to play online and that there was a monthly fee, lol. I actually didnt even try it for about 3 months after I got it....Now I'm hopelessly addicted to mmorpgs.

    UO for me played for 3.5 years total . I have to agree noonther MMO has come close to the fun i had in UO but i will keep trying.

    StarWars Galaxies... so I am used to heavy bugs, lack of content, and mind numbing boredom. Buts its fun at the beginning at least.
    Still on the look out for a better game, but I did get spoiled with customizable avatars. That is still one thing you can't trash on SWG.

    Old School UO.

    It is like a brotherhood.  Among its membership, only those words need be spoken.

    DAOC was my first game which I played that was massive enough to be called a MMOG.

    Before that I was very much into BBS's when they were popular, playing the "door" games that they had against other people.. then I played MUDs for awhile.. 

    I went to mostly single player games until around 2002 or so, then tried DAOC.. since then no other genre has been able to satisfy my gaming hunger.. currently playing Eve, but I'm craving having an avatar who has a human-like form, rather than just being a spaceship.

    Next will be one of the upcoming games.. don't want to mention which one lest the thread be derailed... but I have a feeling that the one I have my eye on will catch my attention for at least a year.

    However, I don't know if you can categorize this as a MMO but it was massive and it was online at AOL like over 10 years ago called Neverwinter Nights Online. Now that would be my actual first MMORPG. Good ol Nasher's Lounge. The good ol' days.

    So, my first, first person/isometrical MMO was NwNO.

    First 2d scape view was The Realm.

    First complete 3d isometric was Ultima Online.

    First 3rd person/over the shoulder was.......Asheron's Call.

    EQ never caught my eye when all left Quake2 to go play EQ. LOL. However, EQ2 may catch my eye now :)

    My first Multiplayer game was Kingdom of Drakkar.. and I still play it.

    First MMORPG was DAoC. Still playing it too, though ready for a change after 3 years and 18 50s.

    Didn't like EQ, Shadowbane or Lineage.

    Next will be WoW. I loved the Stress test beta. Wish I could have gotten into regular beta :( Amazes me that some people did and never activated their accounts.. What an incredible waste for those of us who dream about it :/

    Yeah, I need a life :P Too bad my body won't cooperate.

    Fido Galaxies. turn-by-turn mmo. everyone make their turn in the galaxy then send the turn txt file to the server and when all players made their turn and sent it to the server, server generates updated galaxy. and it goes over and over again until you are the only one left in the galaxy. :))))

    My first was Runescape haha, didnt play it very long though.

    The first MMORPG I really loved was Anarchy Online, kinda done with it now but I still think its a great MMORPG.

    Well... hmm... my first was .... Disney's toontown ! (I was a beta tester) image

    Don't laugh ! it was really nice.

    I got eventually hooked at Diablo2 image (not really a MMO)

    Now, I am looking forward to Guild Wars

    image The Realm, man that was more than 6 years ago.i was hooked and even got most of my family hooked,now we all still play, between EQ,DAOC,and waiting on EQ2 and or WoW.ill play as long as there are mmorpg;s out there:)

    My first ever online experience was with Meridian 59 pre Renaissance, & during these days M59 had an edge over Ultima Online as a more highly ranked game in standards of gameplay and innovation.

    Since I played them first like 10 years ago.

    But graphically, Asheron's Call.


    I WANTED to try UO and Meridien 59 and EQ but hubby didn't want to buy them, the graphics weren't good enough for his tastes :p


    Of course AC complete hooked us. Been sick gamers ever since.

    Waiting patiently for WoW.
