Warhammer Online: 1 million subscribers

It was just announced that WAR has 1 million CURRENT SUBSCRIBERS. This does not include any canceled/banned accounts or accounts in their first free month. This only includes accounts which have been subscribed after their free month and are as of the announcement, still active.

I am Pro WAR and even I won't beleive this without a link.

It is a great game though and deserves to reach 1 mil someday, I just doubt it has yet.

Not the most outrageous lie i've heard about the game, but nearly.

If it's true he can post a link, I find it difficult to believe MJ was still using the 750k+ accounts created remark last week yet they would have over 1mill "active" subs this week (with people who actually cancel etc that would mean like 1.25 million accounts created at the very least)

I play WAR and I'm agreeing with everyone telling the OP post a link.

Don't make claims you can't back up.

  • PheacePheace Member Posts: 2,408

Just realized the OP is a total troll.

He says the number does *not* include anyone in their free month...

That would mean there would have to have been 1 million people who started their game 1 month ago, which simply isn't true as Mark has stated with his 750k accounts created remark.

    The End.

I dont care why it matters??? I dont see why fanbois care how many subs the game gets?? Sub numbers doesnt show how good or bad a game is. Look at WOW, pretty bad game all those subscribers.

Low sub numbers doesnt make it a bad game. Eve online has a fraction of Wows subs yet its 10 time sbetter a game.... so who cares

Who cares if its fake or not? I'd rather see posts like this than what the rest of you are saying. You must all be the bullied kids from high school ( or are still in high school ) that never got to fight back and nows your chance? Get a life!

(you have to scroll down about 5 posts but you'll see the large Mark Jacobs in red letters)

For those to lazy to click:

    "Folks,

As everyone knows today was the end of the 30 days trial period for WAR. No MMORPG, not even WoW, has had 100% of the people who buy the box then sign up to play the game. For a good reference check, when DAoC first launched it had one of the highest conversion rates (those who buy the box and then become paying customers) at the time when in it's first month it had 72%. Of course, most industry people (including myself) think WoW's conversion rate was much higher than that. Thus, it is expected that you will lose some people when you first switch to billing (unless you don't sell well the first few weeks). In our case, we sold exceptionally well and so we expected our peak numbers to go down a little bit. While I can't disclose the exact numbers (and neither does WoW, EQ, etc.) for reasons I've talked about before (public company, financial disclosure), I can say that as of five minutes ago our peak server population was only about 3% lower than yesterday's peak numbers. Considering that this was our first billing day (well second actually but the first was very small) and that our competitor is certainly trying to attract people back this weekend, I'm extremely happy with that number. Also, it is pretty standard for all MMOs that the number of people who miss their billing day, start to trickle back within the next few days to enter their CC information and resub. In the case of DAoC, we gained about 5% from each billing day as customers reactivated their accounts.

So, I'm sorry to disappoint some of you but the sky is not falling (again), unless you expected that we'd have a 100% conversion rate in which case, I'd love to sell you some oceanfront property in Arizona.

Edit: And yes, we did raise the server caps as well not too long ago.

They didn't have 1 million subs before the end of the first month.. they didn't have 100% retention rate (according to Mark Jacobs).

They they gained over 250,000 subscriptions from the last stated total... that had a complete month already but weren't subscribed ...  (according to the OP)

    *hint*

You have to have over a million subscriptions in order to retain after 30 days 1 million subscriptions.  The retention rate would dictate the amount past 1 million you would need to still have a million.

Where was the 1 million subscription mark announcement?  I remember the 750,000 one..

Oh I'm sorry I didn't use Xfire.. I figure a Mark Jacobs post on Warhammer VN boards might be as good tho.

Oh and btw.. an 80% retention rate would be pretty high.  Even with an 80% rate (with no banned accounts etc) you would need close to 1.3 million accounts.. to retain 1 million after the first 30 days.  Just as an example..

  • AzrileAzrile Member Posts: 2,582

The reason the population did not drop after the free month was over is exactly what I said back in September.  People, like myself, quit playing well before our time was over.  You saw 20% drop after the first week, and about 15% drop every week after that.  The 50% drop from the second week until the day after the resub date is the one that indicates the players that didn't resubscribe, not the 3% drop the day of resubs.

As I said before.. players who decided the game was not for them were not going to grind scenarios until the very last minute.  They were long gone.

Congratz. The game does have flaws but it's taking a nice path.

It's a troll, don't your get it. Why can't MJ just tell us how many that have subscription live now? They know it and I am sure they would tell us if they were >500 000. MJ this is not very nice of you. You trick people to buy a game that has ghost town servers by spreading misleading information. You should rather focus on  working your ass off on the game and win subs back like that than spreading funny information that kind of can be interpreted as "hey we are doing great". You are not doing great, there is an obvious lack of people in your game. Considering the people I see ingame, I would guess WAR is more likely to have 250 000-300 000 subs than 500 000.

  • NewhopesNewhopes Member Posts: 458

If they had a million subscribers MJ would be boasting on the VN boards at how good his game is but since they haven't posted any more figures yet my guess is they've fallen below the 750k by now.
