Only game near future that will kill world of warcraft is Warhammer 40k online reasons why:
- it's warhammer 40k
- the races!!!
- the grim that will be put it too it. I read an article and sounds like there will be heads blowing off with huge ass heavy bolters.
- if they do the gameplay right
- if the pvp is good and fun
- no instance battlegrounds
- space battles
-mobile
-aircraft
- power weapons 
- taticle
- scenary bombardments and airstrikes and you can as a player be part of the airstrikes!!!
- and collosion detection
- and shoot through walls!!!
thats why warhammer 40k will kick so much ass!!!!

I can't wait for WAR40K Online but I have one question for you.
Why is it so important for one MMO to dominate the rest? Why is it so important for one MMO to "beat" WoW?
WoW is a player generating engine, we need this for the MMO industry. WoW attracts new players daily to the industry, and are more likely to play other MMO's. If anything we need more MMO players and less games that try and dominate other games, don't you think?
Everyone has different tastes, why can't we have a lot of different MMO's out there, where people can find the game they really like.
Is it that some players want all players on one game?

O right so the fact that the image warhammer conveys to the general pop ( nerds sitting around their kitchen table playing with little figurines) is exactly what most mmorpg players are trying to avoid. Then again you might be right, 9 million peopel will subscribe to war 40k, because you can shoot through walls.
If this mmo has all it says it will, wow will probably be killed in 8-10 years when it comes out.
I dont really understand whats so exciting about making wow killer threads about a game noone's played even an alpha version of it. Then again I dont understand whats fun about curling, watching baseball sober and playing with little painted figurines on your table.

Show me your "facts", prove to us all that WoW in some future date (date would be nice) pull the plug on there own, not because it isnt making money or that some other mmo pushed it out. Listen, get your language right, you cant "prove" any such thing and nothing you say is based on "facts"

WH40K is definitely my most favorite game setting of all times but setting isn't everything as we all know from recent unfortunate examples...
I'm sure WH40K dev team is watching WAR very closely to see what works and doesn't work. That's a very good thing because they won't be forced to do a lot of trailblazing which is always a risky enterprise.
The features from WAR that I think would be very appropriate in WH40K
- Public Quests
- Class synergies
- Scenarios (in fact lots of them) - I think they would be more appropriate for infinities of space than fantasy lands... some random element might be great as well - like Space Hulk for example. Don't get me wrong - I don't like scenarios in WAR but imo in WH40K they would be cool...
- Game world configuration - zones = planets, would work even better than in WAR
- classic MMO combat. targets and everything. making it a "mmofps" wouldn't really go well imo.
- guild system, definitely - banners, levels everything
- ToK
WAR features WH40K should avoid:
- levelling in a classical sense, classes yes - levels no
- 2 faction RvR. Not appropriate at all. At least 3 factions should be available.
- linear storylines - WH40K should be more of a pure PvP/RvR thing rather than trying to squeeze a linear storyline in.
- server/realm system. Imo WH40K should be one continuous world for all players like GW or EVE.

Oh drop it..............it is not a particular IP which will kill WoW, but the right gameplay and design.
If there is an IP that can spell trouble for WoW that is Star Wars, but Bioware went for a casual approach, and that's not what the majority of who play WoW want.
So I don't think it is going to go anywhere near Blizzard game (at least in terms of subscriptions although I predict they will sell millions of boxes)

Aagh saw this thread on the main page and this stuff annoys me.
Stop comparing games solely in terms of hype or number of players. If the only way you choose what games you play is by how many other random people you don't know and never will play it then you are never ever going to find the right game for you and will never be happy. This goes for everything in life not just games.
So, what sometime in the future yeah some game is going to come along that will destroy wow, then another will destroy that and so on. Wow is growing old and it is going to be topped sometime, heck there may even be a wow 2 that beats it. But my point is that that is not the point. If all you are focusing on is how many people play a game then you are just going to be wasting your time. Sure, it may not seem like it at the time but after a while, maybe a long while you'll look back and just regret that you followed the crowd instead of doing what you wanted to do.
Choose your games through graphics, gameplay, friends etc - anything that really draws you into it, that excites you and that simply gives you the best possible gaming experience you can have.
Don't be a sheep.

Yeah coz u can be a big space marine with a great big gun that goes bang bang lots and it has great big explosions and its amazing and you can fly spaceships and use tactics and drop bombs and blow things up and use big artillery guns that blow buildings up and its warhammer 40k and everyone loves warhammer 40k and you can be an orc or an eldar and its all new and amazing cos it has loads of races and we have never seen a game with loads of races in it and you can fly in space and shoot things with your big laser guns and blow up other ships and it will look amazing because its warhammer 40k so it will definately be the best and it will all be grim and dark and everyone loves grim and dark stuff cos that means its cool and you can be a terminator and be better than everyone else and survive for ages because no-one else will be as tough as you because you are the toughest and the best and you will have a big cannon that will be better than anything in wow and this game wont be anything like wow because you will be able to do anything and go anywhere and it will be the perfect mmo and the entire world will play it and everyone will leave wow and no-one will be playing it anymore because they will all be playing warhammer 40k cos everyone loves warhammer 40k with its grim dark world and big explosions and spaceships and dreadnaughts and war stuff that never ends it will be non-stop war thats amazing fun and im so excited thinking about it but I must go now cos my mum is calling me and telling my tea is ready but before I go I must tell you that this game will be the best game ever made because it will have the best graphics and the best sound and the best playability and the best game design and it will have lots of quests and raiding and end game content and classes and skills and gear and races and even more stuff that I cant even think of right now oh ok my mum is getting really angry now so I must go or my tea will get cold and I will get told off but this game will kill wow cos it will be the best and everyone will only want to play the best game and wont want to play wow any more because it wont be as good and warhammer 40k will have loads of features that have never ever been seen in any mmo oh gotta go bye

WOW will die of old age. much like Everquest did.... well, it's sitting on its deathbed, barely hanging on with the few hardcore raiders that still play the game. kinda sad, kinda inspiring.
Uhm... i dont need my new mmorpg to kill wow... just need it to keep being fun to play, and give me a hype...
IMHO, Startcraft Online would destroy WH40k. Yes, most of WoW's success comes from Asia, and they are still having $$$$ tournaments for the orignal Starcraft. So if you classify sucessful as 10 million people playing, then look somewhere else because I don't think Asians are gonna be playing table-top warhammer by the millions any time soon.... I do know that WH40k has been semi-announced and startcraft 2 is in the works, but it's been said 100 times. The only WoW-Killer is/will be Blizzard's next MMO.

WoW will dominate the MMO world for quite a long time, there's not doubt about it. People who buys into the hype about a game that hasnt even come out, and makes a comment about it being a "Wow" killer just dont want their "game" to fail is all.

When I see a game that is actually out and has more subscribers than WoW, I'll be a believer.

Ok I'm sick of hearing "WoW killer" and OMG this game sounds great on paper, I'm not actually gonna play this game I'll just tell people what I read.
Here's some facts:
1. WoW won't die, it will only be replaced by blizzard with another new and improved game. *cgh Diablo online*
2. We here of these game killers, so far this is what has actually been happening. AOC failed at everything, even life. Currently Warhammer isn't doing all that well either, right now EA is spending WAY more money than they are making trying to pull in wow players. Which may I remind you are all gonna ditch warhammer when Wrath comes out cause they're most likely playing Warhammer BECAUSE it's senseless to play wow right now when wrath is so close to launch.
3. You are all noobs, now back away from the mouse and go get some fresh air so smoke some weed to get your mind off of how much of a noob you really are.
4. Warhammer 40k, Starcraft online. IMO will both be epic fails, and why do you ask. Sure the launch will be great, like most MMO's but than you play them and OMG, it's the same F#$#ING game you've allready spent half your life playing allready just different pictures, different toys. Same grind, Same farming, Same questing, etc etc etc. People will get sick of it, and there's allready space mmo's which mind you aren't doing that great. Eve online for instance, is a great game but even their users are leaving. Space has no place in MMO's.

When you're 30 you'll ask yourself where your life went, than you turn on your comp and realise. wow will end when the players decide it ends, not when blizzard decides it..the players will kill wow.
