Why has blizzard censored WoW so dang much, first it was the new naming policy, then they tookout anything religious sounding in the priest profession, and now I just heard that they remodel the way the female night elfs look giving then a breast reduction lol. I'm starting to belive that blizz is trying to go after a younger target audience. I mean I hope that blizz isn't going to start catering to every single organization now. Geeze PETA probably tell them to nerf taurens in general cause it's cruelty to animals lol. I understand that they don't want to offend anyone, but I think they are taking it too far.

I havnt played to to many mmorpg's before but i did play final fantasy 11 and city of heroes....and swg(which i hated) but from what ive seen wow isnt nearly as fairy looking as ffxi, no tarus or fighting vegetables in this game, and in the undercity there are gnomes and other alliance locked in cages in a seller with pieces of body parts all over, then running through the woods by undercity every once in a while you see a body hanging from a rope in a tree....this stuff isnt to hardcore or any thing but it isnt as watered down as you make it sound.It is pleasing to older players and younger players alike from what ive seen. I only played the game for like 8 days thow on the stress test, but i explored alot of the world.

I'd have to agree with Nimrod. The naming policy is great, and video games is deffinitely not a place for religion. Personally I have been a church going Protestant since I was born... HOWEVER while I love to hear my pastor preach about the good Lord on Sunday morning I'LL be DAMNED if I'm gonna want to deal with religious undertones in WoW. I pay my $15 every Sunday at church to hear my pastor talk... And in the same token I am willing to pay my $15 a month to play WoW and not worry about religious differences!
Hope I didn't Offend anyone BTW, if I did you have my honest appology. It's just the $0.02 of some nut case anyway don't take it personal...

wow, i didnt know that. the rating doesnt bother me. I think mmorpgs should be Teen. I think its stupid if they are mature tho. I think blizzard is trying to get young and adults to play. They dont want to cator to any paticular type of person.
At least its not like Lineage 2 that they made elfs so you can see up their skirts. Horny Koreans!!!

I agree with Khas and Nimrod... to an extent. A game that we play for entertainment certainly is no place for religious expressions, etc. Nevertheless, taking the word "holy" out of the priest line of spells, and switching it out with "power" is pretty freakin' lame. So we now have priests that worship no deities whatsoever. Even EQ isn't that pathetic, as they've made up gods for the different races etc. and those are the deities from which their clerics and paladins derive their abilities.
It's like they're trying to take out anything that is even remotely un-PC. It's bad enough that we live in a watered-down world where you walk on eggshells and pray to (oops, my bad) and hope that you don't offend anyone by accident, without having to game in such a nonsensical environment.
NOTE: I would be more than happy to forgive them for this if they'd institute a PVE death penalty.

I wouldn't mind a MMO that cators to an older age group but then you'd still get the annoying kiddies running around ruining it anyway. As far as the breast reduction..as long as the NE don't look like they are 12 in the chest is fine. I think realistic is fine...oversize is stupid...but too small is horrible.

Ya in second life their would be kids running around asking if they can have sex. Really made the game lame with all these 12 years olds learning that you can have sex in a game.

It's not just lame, it's scary. It means that they've gotten complaints from the mothers of the children that are going to play it. It reminds me of the DnD hoopla that said that people that play DnD worship Satan/Idols.
It just means that someones religious convictions just got in the way of a game.
Wow that really pisses me off, makes me think of not playing it. Are they that afraid of being sued? That really makes me made to take the word "holy" out. Its not like it is a cuss word.

I don't know that it pisses me off enough to not play, but I can't help but wonder how good this game is gonna be if the devs are that uptight and anal about everything. I think they should be concentrating on much more pressing issues- such as getting the damned game out before the end of the year and saving Vivendi's worthless hide.
Seriously though, WTF kinda priests don't worship a deity? Are they priests of Atheism of something?
It's not like the priests had spells called "Jesus Saves" or "Shield of Allah". Give me an f-ing break.
I mean, if this is the way they're trying to go, shouldn't they be concerned about getting sued by Pamela Anderson and Anna Nicole Smith for discriminating against females with large breasts?

In response to them taking out swear words or working on their filter or taking out religions words...if it makes you feel any better it is 99% most likely NOT the dev's fault. They wanted them in there and thus they put them in. Later the QA department most likely had a list of flag words that the company has QA look for. QA bugged these for legal issues and management most likely forced a change. Working in QA I can tell you this is most likely what happened.

Religion being the single most superstitious, archaic, irrational and destructive force on the planet I can handle, but when it affects World of Warcraft, we have a problem! This lunacy has to stop!!

Hmmm.... I think if you had a problem with people "saying what they think about religion" you would have reprimanded khas (further up in the thread) for mentioning he's a church-going protestant, but of course that's not what it's about.
Sorry if you consider my opinion ignorant. I'm guessing at the age of 14 you probably have a lot more experience than someone more than twice your age who's studied religion for years.
Back on topic. WoW is a fantasy MMORPG, and since religion is all based entirely on unquantifiable fantasy I can't see the problem with using the word "Holy" in certain spells. Many other RPGs have used the word, why not this one?
What next? Are they gonna change the name of "Priests" to "Buffers" so as not to offend anyone?
lol, this is a post on wow being a pg game, not a religion opinions post. At twice the age of me you should know how to read.
Also I never read Khas's post. I wouldnt have commented on his post at all anyways, whether I agree with him or not. But when you go as far as to bash religion and make it as if it is for mindless ppl.
