I was thinking the exact same thing.  I know NCSoft is only using this pricing scheme for Korea because of the law... for now.  But a lot of people here seem willing to accept these terms in NA/EU for no apparent reason.  It's not about the time, it's the principle.  Why are people willing to make small concessions out of apathy?

ISP's are already talking about charging by bandwidth usage.  Before you know it cable companies are going to be charging by the hour to watch TV.

ok let me get this straight...I DONT PLAY 10hours a day!! but you all guys miss my point!!!

what im saying is that why the hell they implementing this kind of restriction while other more successfull mmo doesnt? right? if they make 300 hours restriction...it only means they are more expensive than any p2p mmo game. its not that il play more than 10 hours a day, but just the thought of making it a p2p with tim limit is just too much.... Are they really that confident about this game??? ncsoft never made any awesome game....all are garbage

Huge logical fallacy is a huge logical fallacy.

I say put the 300 hour limit on all of our MMOs that don't have a good reason to keep the client open all day long. We don't need people getting insanely addicted to MMOs to the point that it affects their health and well being.

What if there are player shops? I know when i'm playing the game i wont have a shop open but when i go to sleep i leave the game on all night to sell the stuff i got while playing. Now with this info on 300 hour limit is true and going to also happen on the US side of the game then i myself also just saved $50 and the monthly fee. I don't buy games that have a set limit of time i am able to play. Imagine you just bought a Single Player RPG or something and you are restricted to a limit of time you are able to play that game would you buy it still? I know i sure as hell did'nt.

People leave the client open for many reasons and to be restricted after paying for the game and paying a monthly fee just seems like a bunch of BS to me. Well again now i just wont purchase this game due to this one fact I'm paying to play this game i should have unlimited time. Now before you past judgement on me i never even play any MMO more then 100 hours a month or even combined time between MMO's. I do have a real life but having a set limit of time is just wrong wrong wrong.

I really hope they don't go through with this on the US side because it will just stray a lot of people away from a game that could very well be the best game that has come out since WoW.

While I don't really see any sense in having a "10 hour a day" limit I can see why people are upset about it. It's a bit like some telcos here selling you "flat fee" plans, only to have you find out that you can actually only call for 5000 minutes a month. Yes, that's 208 hours of phone time and I can hardly imagine using more than 2 thereof, I do consider everyone who feels the need to spend about 7 hours a day on the phone to have serious issues, but still, when you SELL something, at least stick to it. And when I pay for a monthly subscription, I expect to be allowed to play for however long I want to play within this time frame, i.e. this month. Either sell a monthly subscription or sell it hourly, mixing it usually means you as a customer are losing out.

How do they calculate it anyway? Is it 10 hours a day or is it 300 hours a month? Can I play not at all today and 20 hours tomorrow (just in case I have neither a life nor a halfway decent sleep cycle), or will they cut me off after 10 hours and the 10 hours I didn't play the day before are "lost"?

Anyway. Either or. Sell me days or sell me hours, but don't lump it together.

FACT #1 Its Korean release ONLY !

FACT #2 Korean have laws restricting how much time you can play on-line.

FACT #3 NC puts limits on play time because of Fact #2

FACT #4 This thread needs to be locked, its just baching a good game for no reason.

log on lineage 2 and read the stuff in the server select window that talks about relax servers, yet they never made a relax server on na/eu servers even though people wanted em too help with botting problems. stop crying there wont be a limit on play timeeven if you really wanted one and petitioned everyday.

    /agree.

People are stupid. They jump to conclusions about a game because of one moronic post. They don't bother to read the countless threads saying that this 300 hour limit per month is for KOREA only. They just jump the gun and assume that it will be released in NA/EU that way when I'm sure NcSoft knows that would be like a death sentence to the game in the western market. Seriously, give the company some credit for intelligence.

And for all the people who say they won't be playing the game now because of this pricing plan; Good riddance. We don't need idiots like you cluttering up the servers anyway.

man people are stupid, this is the korean price and time setup just like every game in korea even WoW has a time limit, they do it because people play to much alot of other places in aisa do it also

Since MMORPGs are considered a: Heart-attack-waiting-to-happen-health-hazards. I wouldn't be surprised if every government around the world implement the same law and limit game time. I'm sure it will happen eventually.

Exactly! Don't waste your breath. They have anti-addiction systems in place in most southeast Asian MMOs. This has nothing to do with North America. Please educate yourselves about things before spouting off about imaginary situations that will never exist in North America.

Yo guys, listen up, there is a thread making fun of the retardedness of this threads OP, check it. It clears up EVERYTHING, even the answer to life.

  • CyntheCynthe Member UncommonPosts: 1,414

What? The answer to life isn't 42?

That's the Korean pricing, and that might not even be accurate.

  • TheRedPillTheRedPill Member Posts: 114

Beyond the FACT that this was CLEARLY stated as the terms for the Korean market... Beyond the FACT that, whatever our opinion is of these terms, its a legal requirement over there... Beyond the FACT that NCSoft has not said they will limit North American hours...

Now, if they do, I wouldn't be surprised, as this limitation is bound to seep into the gaming industry from the communications industry, wherein SOME internet providers now limit the bandwidth a RESIDENTIAL account can use the internet. The amount of bandwidth permitted is still ridiculously high [to quote Sean Connery from the movie Entrapment, "What can you do with seven billion dollars that you can't do with four?]  but not high enough to support an online business. Should NCSoft decide to limit hours for Aion here in North America, it would only prove that the gaming industry is getting wise to the idea that finite usage may curb abusive exploits (including remaining signed into the game all night while you sleep to man a trading booth or log hours in-game toward the acquisition of a goodie, not to mention using bots and offering RMT services.)

So here is what I suggest for all of you IF in FACT your gaming time is ever cut off:  return to the real world long enough to write your congressman.

  • -aLpHa--aLpHa- Member UncommonPosts: 852

Cool down, the 300 hour limit only apply to Korea since they have a law that states the company's are not allowed to let MMORPG players play more then 300 hours a month.

  • orionworionw Member UncommonPosts: 17

I'd prefer a 300h timelimit to US/EU too tbh, but only because it reduces the amount of bots. It's not like there's a huge amount of players that play 10h+ every single day of the month, probably 0.1% of the playerbase.

I was not aware of the time limit on the game.  Thank you OP you just saved me $50.

Umm do you really play any MMO 10 hours a day everyday?! ie average month 30 x 10 hours = 300.

If so I'd have to assume you only play one MMO at a time ever.

Wow , some post are just ucked up

10 hours a day with a cost of less than 50 cents a day to play is WHAT???  too much money and not enough hours??,

SHEESH some people have way too much time and have NO concept of how alot of other people around the world struggle just to live and are lucky to get 1 hour free time let alone 10

Are we sooo greedy now that it comes to posts like this, maybe some things should thought but not printed.
