And while the game is fun, it feels like it's just missing something IMHO. While the gameplay is interesting I simply do not find myself pulled into the world at all. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not just bashing EQ2 for the sake of bashing it, I understand it appeals to a certain variety of Gamer and unfortunatly that's just not me. On the outside the game appears to be very epic, beautiful graphics, this that and the other thing. But try as I might, it's just not for me. Man what I wouldn't do to turn my EQ2 beta account for a WoW one, even if there's only a few weeks left of closed. In my eyes it would be worth it.

I chose to state my opinion here, because the EQ2 boards have a tendency to rip apart anyone and anything that states they dislike eq2, regardless of reasons.

OK well i tested it and tbh IT SUCKED.

I hated the graphics that everyone praised, i couldn't get involved in the world at all and the whole trade system seemed overcomplicated to me.

If I had a penny for every person who said "I gave away Beta X cause it sucked", I'd be a millionaire.

...it's probably right along the lines of "My friend is a developer for mmorpg company brand X and he says it sucks..."

both quotes used quite heavily to combat opposing games. It's interesting to see it migrated to the battlefield of WoW vs EQ now

No, it's nothing like that in the slightest... These guys aren't saying "A friend told me EQ2 sucks", they're saying "In my personal opinion, based on first-hand knowledge, EQ2 sucks".

never said i hated it. it just is not for me. to bad the guy i gave the account to cant use it because its tied to my station account. i just like wow better and yes i tried wow in the stress test.

Can you be more specific on what you didn't like? Was it just "the feel?"

You absolutely have the right to your opinion, but the "missing something" is too vague to really help people. The downside of saying A, B or C was bad - is people will try and argue that A is really good, and B is better than B' than WoW uses... etc.

Nonetheless, anything more specific would be nice - you'll just have to ignore the idiots that attack it.

hehe well the fact is i gave it away to a friend... Luckily i dont own an EQ or SWG account as it also gets linked to the station.com account. My friend really likes it and is pretty much addicted.

To me i just dont like the colours :P. Its as simple as that for me. I couldn't get immersed in the game. The world didn't feel vibrant enough and the goblins in the newb town were definately retarded as they walked all funnily. Then again that was a month ago when the first UK beta places where sent out (i was quite lucky ) .

But i can pretty much describe what i did in the noob part of the game before being sent to the evil place (i was Dark Elf so i could only speak to the evil guy).

You start in an area where goblins are continually 'raiding' the city. Thats one of the quests if i remember right kill a certain amount of them. Then you can proceed further up the area to raid some supply chests i think cept a goblin type is protecting it,

Also theres a workshop down below in the tower in the centre of the main area where you have to re align all the furniture so you can actually use the workshop, the workshop is a seperate load area. At the top of the tower are 3 mages (at the bottom was the guy who asks you to clear the workshop). Generally by the see are crab creatures and you can also swim under the water and kill the fish. Theres also a confusing amount of raw material strewn across the place.... confusing for a noob EQ player like me... why it put me off really... too much too fast.

Before that the tutorial area is on a ship where you have to kill some rats and then a goblin that escapes. A monster attacks the ship i think at some point altho as its along time ago i cant remember what happens... either u get shipwrecked or the monster attacking causes the goblin to get free. Either way each part is triggered by speaking to the captain or the general guy at the front of the ship.

Convinced? Or you still think i didn't actually test EQ2 beta? I never spoke till now cause there was an NDA :P.

I have the EQ2 beta but I haven't touched it in a week. I try to keep playing it because I feel like i'm missing out or something. But once i get into the game, I just think to myself "Hmm... I should be having fun, but i'm not, what the heck is wrong with me?" I don't know what it is, but something is missing. I can see why some people like it, but for me I just can't play this.

My point exactly its too hard for me to be immersed... that feeling you get when you dont see the game or the pc you are in the world. I just never get into the world it just feels unrealistic... sounds weird huh?.

I think the graphics and the land is what gave it away. I felt REALLY immersed in the city, but once i got outside the whole game fell apart.

I'm sorry, are you confusing me with someone else? Where have I ever bashed EQ2?? I never once said EQ2 was a bad game, I only said that WoW was my first choice. I really wish there was some sort of way I could see an archive of my posts to see the bashing that you speak of.

I am serious when I say I would love to test out EQ2. I don't think that game is a joke at all. I think they did a good job on it, from what I have seen so far. I would just like a taste of the gameplay myself. Wow, I am lost for words and very confused of your accusation.

ADDED: If you look around the EQ2 forums a bit and do a little research I am sure you might come across some threads where I was standing up for EQ2 and against the WoW fanboi's bashing the game of their choice. That is childish, polite bashing or being rude, I am against it all.
