its a fx5700le
thanks bro
what do i need to run it on high?
Buy another stick of 512 ram, that is critical if you want to play the game with out throwing it against the wall when in combat. You can live with running EQ2 on low graphics, just start saving for a Geforce 6800 GT, 400-500 bucks. I like BFG's if you want to have it overclocked out of the box, but that is around 500 bucks.

what setting are you running eq2 on? and what if i just buy a stick of 1gb ram insteas, will it run even better?
You can run it on Very high performance with your current computer(2nd lowest setting).
Only upgrade if you want it to look better.

Well according to everyone i met that owns a FX6800ultra or X800XT the setting of extreme (which is the current highest setting they have given to gamers) is unplayble in combat mode.
It permits movement with some stutter in crowd free areas(to a playable degree) but in crowded places it stutters badly and in crowded and combat it is not playable .
So must of them play on high to very high quality depending on the situation.
Now this is as good as you can buy in the current market of Gcards.
The EQ2 engine is made with cinematic/hollywood style stuff and can be pushed even further. then extreme setting if they wished. This extreme setting was added recently just to show people who can actually even view this setting that the engine has more to offer .
This is why i opted to wait for the next generation of card which should make extreme setting quite playable(fingers crossed) at the high end range of the next gen cards.
Now why am i stating this,is because you seems to want to run the game on all it has to offer and this means loads of upgrades and you still will not get the maximum setting with whats avaliable atm(and SoE said they could push it more then whats considered maximum now ).
Now to your Gcard i actually know this card well as it is what my friend uses for farcry.FX5700LE is a good card for its price but sits just a step above the horrible FX5200 and below the normal FX5700/5600 series.
Basically its an ok card but like someone mentioned you may have to be content with very high perfomance at best with the occasional push to high perfomance(step higher then very high) when in off peak times.
But it WILL run EQ2 fine.If you are to spent anything try spending on 256RAM at least preferable 512RAM more.
It will be pointless getting a new card with only 512RAM as this game demands more.Though with recent memory leaks fixed the game does not need 1GB anymore but it sure needs at least 700mb.
You can run on High/Very High.
I have:
P4 2.4 ghz
1.25 gig ddr ram 2700
120 gig HD 7200 rpm
ge force 5200 fx 128 mb ram
I can run on High with no lag at all. You can do very well for High and if you upgrade your DDR ram you could be Very High easy.
You are running basicly the same computer as me and I am in beta...no lag at all you should be okay, might upgrade the ram a little though.
If you want a good mid range video card, get a Nvida 6800. It has 12 pipelines and 5 vertex processing units. I payed only $269 for mine. I got a score of 3880 on 3D Mark05, but that with it overclocked at 400/900.
I miss DAoC
The game would run like crap if you set it to high on that vid card. High performance maybe?
I have an a64 3500+, 1 gig ram, and a 6800. My friend has a p4 3.4ghz, 1 gig ram, and a 6800gt and we both play on high. If you set it to highest or the top one combat isn't very fluid.
can someone tell me what type of video card i need to buy that would be better please?

uh... It does not run like crap. I have my graphics set to HIGH. Don't try to tell me how my own computer works when you don't even know. I have been playing on that setting since I started playing. It works perfectly. I custom built this computer and it's made for gaming. So don't try to tell me how my stuff works unless you're at my house watching me play.
edit:
rawr.
Try this EQ2 site out to scan your system and provide some minimum requirements. It will help lead you to what you need.
Cheers.

Hmm, you bought a 5200 for your 'gaming' pc...
that tells me all I need to know.
that tells me all I need to know.
Are you a freakin child or something? YES I bought that because it works very well and I'm not made of money. Why do you have such a big problem with my graphics card? Wanna make yourself feel better? Sure. Go ahead. Laugh because I can't immediately upgrade to your superior god-like system. Pfft. I suppose my head needs to be as big as yours too?
seems like we gots some equipment nazis.....
anyways, i wouldnt mind playing with all the settings turned all the way down as graphics arent that important to me.... but i will be buying a gig of ram and a new card for this game.... maybe motherboard/cpu as well...
and i think i might just get a 80 dollar gforce 5200 instead of a 440 dollar Uberwixorgraphiksblaster 1053830293489 1024mb Ultra....
hell, i could get like 2.5 gigs of ram for the cost of that card.... and imo ram > graphics card
17 days and counting............................
I don't have a problem with your graphics card. I have a problem with you spreading unrealistic expectations for the performance of EQ2 on people's systems.
If you actually monitored the fps that you are playing at, I bet you would be suprised.
