Plus requiring components is going to be great. Just like not having unlimited arrows people will need to keep track of their ammo or get caught short. It will suck trying to get off that last spell or arrow only to find out your empty and get a mace to the head for your troubles.
Yes i agree. I was close to giving up MMOs all together while in the Vanguard forum someone said that having to have spell components and actually having to buy/make arrows (i.e. not unlimited) was just a time sink.
So true, "Wasting time" is the new term for "Immersion" apparently.

Having no limit on arrows and no reagents required for spells would make it one step closer to a theme-park carebear fest. I'm sorry but if you can't handle needing to restock on arrows, then you will have a problem with full loot.

Exactly the reason why this game needs to release and gain some ground on the MMO market. So other developers can see there is still a player base for these things in online gaming. Man all this talk about this just has UO memories flooding back into my mind.

And EQ memories as well.
I just want that same rush that EQ gave you when it came to dungeon crawling. Every time I went into a dungeon in EQ I feared for my life. Now adays with games like WoW and LoTro you can run into a dungeon kill a few enemies before a group of five or six jump in and then haul ass back to the instance and escape death with ease. In a "Real" dungeon you would be hard pressed to find less then four people going in at once, and you can damn well bet ifthey ran into trouble they better have a damn good back up plan or some fast feet.

It's just telling us about a few features, giving us some screenies, and showing us how some things are implimented. So I agree, I wouldn't form an opinion on the game based on this, but it gives more information on it.

I agree 100% Depending on commercial gaming site reviews is pretty naive - they are little more than glowing advertisements to generate site ad revenue. these tend to be overly positive or overly negative, and IMO, rarely accurate. bloggers are the best, followed by player reviews on forum sites, taken with a grain of salt.
me, i'm well rich enough to just buy the game and decide for myself, which i would even if initial reports are lukewarm anyway, because i strongly believe the MMO genre needs more Darkfalls, and secondly that Darkfall is the kind of game that could be crappy at the beginning and still grow into an awesome game, because of its sandbox nature.
Just an observation, but DF is looking more and more to be similar to an online version of Oblivion to me. ....
You can't really compare single-player games to MMOs, because the technical limitations on the 2 genres are worlds apart (intentional mini-pun). MMOs will always be a long way behind single-player games in graphics to minimise/control lag when many players gather in one place, *unless* MMOs introduce limitations like lots of instancing and zone caps, like AoC tried, and failed miserably at.
like WOW, DF's graphics have been deliberatly kept low res to make large battles possible.
First off she's not Tasos's girlfriend but she is a friend of his. How close of a friend we don't really know for sure. Second she's not really hyping the game when she's just explaining what she's doing while playing. About the only thing she has said that was even remotely hype was that personally she is having fun while playing and she almost seemed like she didn't want to admit it. She hasn't once said that it's the greatest game ever or that it's going to rock your world or any of that type of general shameless plugs that you saw the D&L so called "testers" saying.
I swear that some of you will make anything into what you want to try to make your points. She's just reporting what the game is like and that is it... no shamless plugs... no grand claims... no blowing smoke... just what she personally is experiencing while playing. Give the girl a break as she is just trying to help us get a little taste of what the game is like. You all should be thanking her instead of trying to rip her apart.

Your argument might have some weight if she was making grand claims of greatness about the game but she is not so your whole position on this falls flat on it's face. The only thing that is "fucktastically dumb" as you put it is seeing grand schemes in this when it's obvious to anyone with common sense that there is none.

One might think the normal way to put your production to test and show the results to the world is to choose the best well respected and non-related reveiwer you can find. But of course Darkfall does everything differently.

I actually see this Gianna as a way more reliable source then any big website out there.
Big websites have a way to deliver good previews and reviews to the large computer companies that feed them.
Gianna is a very trustworthy choice of a preview deliverer as i see it, way better then IGN and gamespot with their biased reviews. Warhammer got a 9/10 on IGN.

Too funny how many lemmings are coming out of the proverbial wood work to jump on the Darkfall wagon.
You all complain about getting burned by overhyped games, then turn around and overhype Darkfall. What a crock.
Go ahead, continue to make excuses for Darkfalls every failing, make up more reasons why this game is going to revolutionize the very essence of mankind.
Until this game releases and we can actually play it ourselves, I wish theyd stop using nobodies from who who the fuck knows where to spread just enough Darkfall goodness for the lemmings to continue frothing about.
Really all the fanbois are an insult to the intellegence of the MMORPG community. Blindly eating out of Tasos' hand after such debacles as Vanguard, DnL, AoC, and most recently WAR. And yet even though history has taught us not to be too hopeful, you still sit around making like circus seals for good ole Tasos.
Get real already, learn from your past mistakes, and dont set yourself up for another disappointing MMO.

Actually most fans following Darkfall back their statements with facts.
Trolls usually do just the opposite.
And think of this abit - how can someone not interested in the game waste time on that games forum?
Im not wasting my time on Warhammer forum or Aion forum.

Thats when we can start talk about stupidity.
Lets see, better funded companies with larger budgets, who actually HAVE game developing experience have all created flops as of late.
Now, as for stupid, I think stupid is assuming a no name company with no game development experience is going to revolutionize the entire genre, even after weve all been burned time and time again.
Stupid is setting yourself up just like the super fans of all these other failed games did.

damn, trolling quality has dropped alot as of late.

The only thing that is "fucktastically dumb" as you put it is seeing grand schemes in this when it's obvious to anyone with common sense that there is none.

so the company or the dev team decides that the best thing to do is to release some information, and the best way to do it is through a common friend who works for a know nothing blog called thenoobcomic? I fail to see the genius here but maybe they just have good hearts
again, i could be wrong.. but it seems fucktastically dumb

One might think the normal way to put your production to test and show the results to the world is to choose the best well respected and non-related reveiwer you can find. But of course Darkfall does everything differently.

Just when you think you have all the answers, I change the questions.

Warhammer got a 9/10 on IGN.
http://pc.ign.com/objects/748/748723.html
Age of Conan got 8.5/10 on gamespot.
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/ageofconanhyborianadventures/review.html
Nah, Gianna is a good and trustful source, way better then the big websites.

I totally agree.
I find it incredible that people buy that this is the preview of the game 5 weeks before "launch" !!!
This is such idiocy

Actually most fans following Darkfall back their statements with facts.
Trolls usually do just the opposite.
And think of this abit - how can someone not interested in the game waste time on that games forum?
Im not wasting my time on Warhammer forum or Aion forum.
Thats when we can start talk about stupidity.
You mean you want an updated preview.

Stupid indeed.
