Put it into perspective. If you are entertained for a year for only $100 or whatever, wouldn't you consider that a screamin' deal? I sure would.
Erhm......... almost every new MMORPG costs 15 bucks/month now
Examples:
Anarchy Online (not that new but a good game) , Lineage 2, Star Wars Galaxies,City of Heroes, EVE Online i think, Saga of Ryzom..........
I think WOW will charge the same........Every new SOE and NC MMORPGs will cost $15/month.
SO no, its not weird.....ya know how money influence everything......lets hope they wont charge you $20 in the future....
Buy the game and play for a month. Consider the purchase like any other single-player game you'd probably tire of in a month. After playing, if you can justify the $15 to play another month then do so. Otherwise, just don't renew! It's a real simple equation.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
To be honest it was a sign of relief for me.
SoE is always first to hike prices and i thought they use EQ2 as a chance to do it again.
I am going for the all access pass though because i plan to keep planetside and it works out cheaper that way.
Yes, true....but consider this.
If you play a ton of EQ2, you won't be going anywhere. So you save money on the gas, by playing EQ2.
I mean, if you consider that...can you really afford not to play?

If it cost 20 dollars a month I would still do it. the amount of time I put into these games is insane and 15 dollars a month probably works out to be like a 5 cents an hour with the amount I play.
So the more you play, the more your getting out of your money.
15 a month is nothing, a kid on a paper route can afford that.
Err... Big ones?
I thought Big Ones were $1,000 or at least $100 (for the small fry)
I can manage 15 small ones, np. I was afraid they'd want $19.95 myself, at least they didn't increase the going rate.
I got over the 'Ohmygawd 15 dollars!' when I played Lineage 2. Although, I don't think I'd pay $10 a month for that game. They can't even PAY me to play that game anymore. Anyways...
Ya it's $14.99, but you can't just release the best game ever and charge prices from 3 years ago. That's only $2 more a month, less than .07 cents a day, $24 dollars a year. If you can't afford that kind of extra money, then you must be eating mac and cheese everyday (been there done that).
Ugh, this sucks. It's going to be around 21 dollars for Canadian citizens. I won't be buying EQ2 anyways though. Whenever i buy an SOE product a part of me dies a little inside. Maybe it's my diginity that rots away, not too sure.
Has WoW confirmed their monthly fee? I HOPE it's 12.95 a month. I have a feeling it will be.

would it make you feel better if it were "$15 small ones a month?"

Ok, so why don't you just not waste the money on their crappy game? They charge what they do because they know the EQ fanboys will sell their homes and kidneys in order to play if they have to.
And obviously you're not all that convinced in their product, otherwise you wouldn't be complaining about the price. It's not like it's all that different from any other new MMORPG that hits the market.

Yeah, put me in the group who doesn't understand what the heck the fuss is over.
It's $15! Sheesh! I know everyone easily spends that amount or more a month on junk food or other things that they don't absolutley need. Buy 1 less CD a month. Take 2-3 less trips to McDonalds a month. Buy a t-shirt from Wal-Mart instead of Old Navy. Heck, for kids, offer to do a chore or two around the house for the $15. If your parents aren't willing to see that you are willing to work for something you really want and reward you for it, well......I don't envy you and I would offer to help a neighbor with something (mow grass, take out garbage, etc.). If you want it, you can make it happen.
Also, for those who say they are kids or in school and can't afford it, how do you think the rest of us do? We have jobs. We go out and do some task/chore so that someone pays us. We may not like our jobs, but we do them anyway because we have stuff we want to buy, bills to pay and games to play. Might as well start doing it now because unless you win the lottery or a rich relative dies and leaves you in the will, you're going to have to do it sooner or later.
"Many nights, my friend... Many nights I've put a blade to your throat while you were sleeping. Glad I never killed you, Steve. You're alright..."
Chavez y Chavez
I'd rather spend $15 to spend one night out at a crappy movie and eat stale popcorn while the people behind me talk through the only good parts, and then miss the end because the annoyingly bubbly concessionist convinced me to buy a large drink instead of a small one, causing more bathroom trips......
Oh, wait, no--I'd rather play EQ2 for an entire month.
hahahaha, I like your perspective.
Heh. It's $15 a month. I don't even have to go to work for an hour to cover that. Hell, just going to see a movie with a friend costs me that and at best that's two hours worth of entertainment.
It'll be the cheapest monthly bill that I pay and I can live with that:)
I miss DAoC
Hehe...then "Flush, its a memory"...hehe...too funny
Anyone else actually hear a toilet flush in their heads when they read that?
Anyone?.....

While I see the point in encouraging price hikes by accepting them easily, I have to bring up an old cliche: "Choose your battles..."
Gas is one thing, but Everquest is quite another. Gas prices involve the economy, questionable politics, and dubious Middle-Eastern countries. An MMORPG involves what you are going to do tonight.
Fight the battle to bring gas prices down, because you would be doing so much more than paying less for gas. As far as EQ2, what will you really cause by refusing to buy a game that is a couple bucks more than the last one you played? Because one, it just isn't that expensive; and two, it is really quite trivial for you to do so (and you will miss out on so much). These guys have to pay for their expenses too. I'd imagine it's quite a risk to start an MMORPG and there are so many alternatives, I am sure they try to be quite competitive. Gas is a whole different story.
