I could not agree more. AoC combat is the funnest combat of any MMO game.
I guess that is a matter of opinion. If they had delivered what was promised. See this video about 2 minutes and 50 secs in www.youtube.com/watch it would have been awesome. Too bad that by release it is nothing more than a macroable series of standard combos. LoTRO's Warden and Runekeepers classes offers much more skill and challenge than any of AoC's classes judging from my experiance [/quote]
Well if you dont like to PvP then LOTRO is really good choice otherwise ...
As for macroable part well you are off as with macros you imidiatlly shoot yourself in the foot each miss is less damage so whoever use it will always loose against skilled player. One double tap dogging and you can say goodbye to your combo.
As for the old system that was mentioned well i was in beta and the major problem was you really could not take the control of combos as they would trigger based on your hits there was no combo reset or something in the long run it would not work and on that combo system people would really use macros and even with negative damage would be still easier.
In beta lots of players supported other way then funcom choose to do. We wanted to have 1 combo button that would put you in combo mode and then you do the flow as that would give you some kind of control.
Little update. I have family in so I'm not playing as much as I would like to. I probably won't be until next week. Anyways, I am really enjoying Age Of Conan. The story line is alot of fun. Sure, it may get boring to some after level 20, I'm only level 6. So far though, it's really enjoyable. Questing is so enjoyable on Age Of Conan. Goes into theatre mode and really takes you into the game and makes you want to quest more. I don't quest much in other games but questing in this game is fun. Really enjoying it so far.
If you like that style of questing you should try LoTRO. Those cinematic storyline quests continue all the way to max lvl. They even have some new instanced session quests where you play as another character from the storyline temporarily. The other night I had to figure out how to play as a lvl 60 dwarf in the last stand of Balin's dwarves in Moria from the books. Took me 5 tries to figure that one out but it was so much fun I could do it over and over.
To be honest with you, I hated LOTRO. The movement in the game didn't feel comfortable. I felt out of place when I played it and hated I wasted money buying it. =/
Alright, So guys little update again. I joined a guild and am now BOOGYING. I jumped on yesterday and went from 22 to 30 last night with 9 hours playtime yesterday, LOL. I'm loving this game. This is the 1st time playing a game that I've enjoyed since wow open beta (have tried over 20 since then). Finally, a game where it feels different. A game based off of something. The game just feel s good. With bloody scenes to make you feel like you're playing Requiem to doing a Fatality with a skill as the last shot. The fatalities in the game are so cool. I'm loving the questing. You can tell before 20 that they took more time working on the questing. The NPC's talk before 20, then after 20 they do here and there. There are so many quests, though.
I can say before AOC I never enjoyed Questing. Now, I'm looking for quests. I'm level 30 with SO MANY more quests to do. I hit level 29 last night, went and turned in around 8 quests and hit 30 right after hitting 29, lol. Everyone in the guild was like holy shit that was fast, haha. It was funny. I'm loving it.
It's a breath of fresh air and I'll keep updating as I level. Now level 30 and going to keep going. Can't wait to ride my mammoth at 40. Learning so much day to day. I wonder how Darkfall will be in January-February. I'm ready for it as well. AOC feels real. That's what I like about it. It's a change, a good change.
Threre is a big population boom happeneing atm (Lots of new players) ...+ they are merging server soon so pop will not be a problem for the next Year.
I just Bought this game at the end of 2008 , Loged in And i really feel im loving this game. Iv not felt this way in a long long time.
Ok so its mature rating so players are not shy. But at least everyones functional. My biggess probleme in the last 500 million Mmos iv played is 17 and yougher playerss just really not being up to par (especially in pvp) and frustrating the crap out of me. (thus I have no fun and cancel)
Yes some yough players still get on here but its a much more limited #.
You dont get the anus retentive folks eather, the ones that are so snub and think there so importent , and above others that will go out of there way to correct your spelling. you know thos Univercity trash that look down at everyone. Good ridence. (wish that was true)
I Did not buy this game at launch knowing (had a feeling) it would bust in some way. I did have to deal with a few bugs the moment i loged on but found ways to fix them myself fairly quickly.
The first 20 lvl are a challenge. Really well made, and is worth much more then the 40$ i payed for the game in my opinion. I bought the game with intention to play 30 days with it and cancel. Looking like im going to stay though HA!!!!
So today I went from 30-38. I eperienced my first powerleveling of the game, lol. Some guildies decided to take me to east ruins to kill 74's (where alot of pvp was going on, always pvp going on in this game). Wow, I went from 30 to 36 in NO TIME, an hour maybe? It was amazing. I'm so glad I'm in a good guild that's very active on the tyranny server and has ventrilo. I'm loving it. The fact that you can get power-leveled makes the game even more casual. It's a great game for Adults too cause not many kids play it because it's not about Shiny armor, oh it's just...fun. Well off to bed, been on AOC for 6 hours, lol.
Got work tomorrow but plan on being 45-50 by Sunday. Friend of mine in our guild went from 31 yesterday to 50 today, he's been on off and on. But, the fact that he could get 31-50 so fast...wow....that's insane.

I have two 80's on AOC. I found the end game was kinda boring, but i stopped playing before the pvp patch was installed. So it might be totaly diffent now.
It's not different. Endgame is still the same old boring ganking in Kheshatta. Unless you want to start a new character, there is no point in going back.
I really wish Funcom would have implemented guild ladder system or something similar. I don't understand why they left endgame so unfinished? MMOs should be built around endgame, not the first 20 levels.
Maybe they just ran out of time and decided to make at least Tortage finished in order to get good initial sales and hopefully fix the game before people notice and quit.

Ohhh, I'd love more endgame too, but let it be clear there is already a lot of endgame in place. I have not managed to take down all Raid Bosses still. WHich of the bosses have you managed to take down so fare?
If you're tired of grinding don't buy it. If you'd like to grind so more with nice graphics, then buy it.
Got news for you, sure it's a long grind but it's a fun grind and what makes this games grind enjoyable is the fact you can be powerleveled. You can be mentored which means someone can basically "teach" you, when a higher level does that you become near their level. Yes, that's right. You can mentor players to get them great fast XP. They will be getting 200xp per kill when you're getting 200 xp per kill. Except, that 200 exp they are getting is for say their really level 20 character which only has 25,000 xp to get. That's just an example.
Also, higher levels can invite you to their group and powerlevel you. Kill 80's while you're 30-40's or higher. I was 30 yesterday and went to 38 in like 1 hour because someone was powerleveling me running around aoeing tons of 74's. It was great. This game is worth a try if you want something fresh. Very challenging.
Ohhh, I'd love more endgame too, but let it be clear there is already a lot of endgame in place. I have not managed to take down all Raid Bosses still. WHich of the bosses have you managed to take down so fare?
I'm more of a pvp player and I don't do much raids but out of boredom I have done out of most of the raids in AoC. But it's just too difficult to find a group of good players nowadays since so many people have quit and pug teams are waste of time.

Even in WoW, you'll never find a pug to do a raid boss unless its easy mode team set up.
PvP shuold always be about making your own fun and never about min game grind or PvP exp. Once AoC implemented exp (basically a title) people started duling and doing massive GvG battles. Thankfully tho, this has changed recently.

You cannot decide what pvp should or shouldn't be. Different people like different things. This "making your own fun" that you talk about is complete opposite of what I'm looking for.
I'm looking more structured type of pvp with guild ladders, titles, etc. And I know a lot of people that are looking for the same thing. AoC doesn't have that which is a big shame.
Right now pvp in AoC is basically ganking or zerging. No thanks.
I don't understand why they left endgame so unfinished?
Age Of Conan went threw multiple revamps, features and mechanics were slashed wholesale and re-done multiple times. Many folks who actualy Alpha tested the game over the years were constantly saying WTF?
AoC is another example of a washed up Head Developer who had made one good game, is given Carte Blanche by a company, tries to 'innovate', but ends up launching an incomplete pile of Junk and than leaves the MMO industry.
McQuaid did it Garriot did it and Godager did it. Doubt either 3 care, they all 'retired' with a fat paycheck.
I too hope to someday get a job that I can completely fail at and get paid millions to leave, so the management can claim its all better now that I am gone.

I think you'd like Guild Wars.
That's the only MMO I know of that has what you're asking for.

Guild Wars is not an MMO its a CoOP RPG. And yes, GW is the only game were numbers aren't important.
I'm now level 47 almost 48. Wow, over 50 hours play time last week! I'm loving it and I'm following the quest line slowly, but surely. I'm also being powerleveld by guildies here and there. We had 15 guildies last night in the east ruins powerleveling us, lmfao. That was fun.
This game is alot of fun if you get in the right guild. DELIVERANCE TYRANNY SERVER, booya!

I'm now level 56. Let me say, I'm having a blast. Although, I would love to be getting powerleveled by a 80 TOS or something in East Ruins to get to 60 tonight, lol. But, loving the game non the less. It's so enjoyable.
I think the main issue is everyone who came in on launch and got burned, and have attitudes as long as California, just won't budge and give the company a chance.
Thanks to Craigs position, I think this game will flourish, and is already better and getting more of what I like about an MMO. Action, Visual quality and beautiful sound, all rolled into a fun combat system.
You are rocking. Thanks for updating us. I heard alot of things were different when it was released. Such as, when you took fall damage your spells were reset and you had to rebuff. That's been fixed.
Murder points at 80, I hear there is no way to get them off. Is this true? I think if it is they need to fix it. When you kill level 80 shit every 30 level 80 kills or so = -1 murder point. You can get them off but still teach lowbies a lesson if you don't want murder points and really hate someone that is a lowbie.
I'm hoping to get to 60 soon. I'm loving the Ranger class. It's alot of fun. Combat in Age Of Conan takes skill and I love the mechanics. From riding on a horse and jumping and sprinting on the horse and looking so realistic as it does it, to riding on a mammoth and knocking mobs to their feet (It was fun when I was being powerleveled in east ruins and as the TOS was rounding them up, I would knock all the mobs over and do 300 to each with my mammoth at level 41 for the TOS). The game just feels so real. I just love Fatalities too. Especially doing them on a player. I didn't know how to play the game until about level 35 (Ye, I'll admit). I wasn't doing my combos right. I would click salvo and wonder why it wasn't working. Now, I realize how to do them. Salvo, Upper left attack, 2 middle attacks, and bam it triggers the combo. Combat in AOC is so fun because it's not like the boring combat in other games and it has bonuses to add on to the combat. Not only that but the gear isn't AMAZING, it just has stats on it and it looks cool. If I'm 80 and see an 80 ranger coming up, most people wouldn't know he's wearing purple gear. Why? Because it's not all glowy. So they will fight him, but get their ass handed to them. In a game like World Of Warcraft, when a hunter comes up with tier gear on, people run. I'm just saying, it's nice not knowing what people are exactly wearing. Oh and tracking on this game as a ranger is SO FUN. My pvp is now 121 - 52. Not great but already got 2,000+ pvp xp.
I can't wait to hit 80 and help my brother who I also got in this game powerlevel low guys in our guild. Our guild is a great guild. Powerleveling, PVPing, and always on ventrilo. We have over 200 members with great guys and I'm so glad me and my brother got in a good guild. Btw, he's now a level 50 TOS. He started a day after me. We've been leveling together and both are really enjoying the game.

No thanks.

Bam!
I signed up for faceofmankind when I found out it's coming back a month ago. I can't wait. Players control the world and it's one of a kind!

Another update,
I'm now level 47 almost 48.
Sounds like your having fun
Ymir's Pass is coming up soon!
Small Update,
I'm now level 56. Let me say, I'm having a blast. Although, I would love to be getting powerleveled by a 80 TOS or something in East Ruins to get to 60 tonight, lol. But, loving the game non the less. It's so enjoyable.

You are rocking. Thanks for updating us.
Cheers
