You misread that portion. They are having issues making player controlled swing actions work without latency being a serious factor in determing who is winning. FOr now hitting attack gives you a random swing animation and it will always hit at the same spot regardless of animation.

In other words, It feels like you are just trading blows with 2 or 3 animations but with the same effect.

Sadly it also reads like fluff to me also. Need to show more of this game in order to remove that labal.

I love this part:   It makes sense to be concerned about the appeal of the graphics of a game in development so long, but Darkfall looks good in the gallery.

Too bad you can't play in a gallery. Where is the quality (gallery) in game vid's.

Here sweety, click on high quality option on youtube:

    www.youtube.com/watch

And thats still shitty utube quality, look around there are more good looking vids

Nice promo demo sweety, Not great but ok. But the video is missing a few things like mobs, people. That video was empty of life. How am I to tell how the game will run at high setting with so few people and mobs in the game.

Please tell me they have something better than this video to show off the game ?

That video was from the convention. And it is almost the same, with very little people and mobs in it . And the quality of that one is not very good.

Someone Please show me a mass pvp raid with the setting set at max so I can see with my own eyes how the game play is.

Can someone tell me where these videos can be found? On youtube it seems to be hundreds of vids all edited from the same two already released. As for the rest of the Q&A it's all fluff except for the admission it will be a download.
However why have they got things set up with the publisher so late? Why even bother having a publisher now if they're going to release by DD? Where can we download the client? If it is 18 gigs and on bit torrent as alleged no -one will be playing the first day unless they put it out for DL soon, which means pre-orders!
This is all just too dodgy in my opinion, and still no system specs 1 week from launch!

This site has a few videos.  The first on the list is the new 17 minute gameplay video.  Decent quality on the movies ........ Youtube leaves a little to be desired.

No I've seen the video in the first link before, I saw it at youtube, it's old.  I found it, it was posted way back on August 2008!

Going to check the video from the second link, but I think I know which video it is.  Yes I was right I've seen this one too, and the date is right there, it's from back in October 2008.

I thought you said there are new videos, where are they?

We all knew the European launch was coming first but I never thought it would be that long before the NA servers come up. I'm not against the Europeans or anything mind you. I just would like to get a little better ping hehe.

FFXI launch in NA nearly a year after it was launched in Japan. This is nothing new. I wouldn't be suprised if it takes 6months for the company to find a publisher/distrubiter for the NA launch due to copy right laws and what not.

On another note: MMORPG Italia got to play the game and their review and video of them playing the game looks promsing. Furthermore, the vid from the athens convention looks damn good and shows most of the advertised features working the game. The only thing not shown in any vid todate is crafting, which while imprortant, doesn't require as much testing or fluff to work properly.

They have a publisher because usually it is their job to create the customer service staff, get the servers (which in this case Aventurine is handling) and distributing it to retail outlets (they've always stated a box will be available eventually).

You've obviously never downloaded a game before or are being very forgetful. You have to set up an account on some registration website and it is there you will either pay or get a free trial phase. You can't jump to the conclusion that people must pay for the game simply to or by downloading it.

    Yes.

It's been theorized for some time now that Aventurine would not be able to handle anything even close to 300k users on day one.  I'd say this post confirms that theory at this point.

No the only question remains is exactly what is meant by limited?  Just how limited?

I've been predicting for awhile now that they only want about 10-40k users upon Launch... any more than that they aren't really ready for.

I guess we'll see just how many will be able to login come the 22nd.

Yes.  That is exactly what it was.

We heard they were sending in some questions that were picked from their VIP members section quite awhile  ago... early to mid-December if I remember correctly.

Once TTH had picked the questions from their VIP members then they were sent via e-mail to Aventurine.  Aventurine has now answered them, and then TTH posted them up for us to view.

That is the extent of it.  Nothing more... nothing less.

Actually if you pay attention to these boards you will see some have already posted. Just because some of us are critical of how the game has been handled to date, does not mean we want it to fail.

It was a decent interview and much needed considering the silence of late. I am still skeptical of the 22nd release date, but the answers were more informative then usual which is a good step in the right direction.

I wonder if the people that are in the 'limited' launch will have to sign an NDA?

From the increase in information we've been getting... I think even Tasos is aware that the NDA has lived out it's usefulness.

Even with the small number of CLOSED Beta testers that DarkFall has... it was only a matter of time before the leaks started to pile up.

Unfortunately, even at this late date it seems the main point of almost every single leaker is:

Many features still not turned on/completed.

Well, i think it is very evident that the 'limited release' is going to be nothing more than a beta test.  The question is, will the people who do get in be able to actually talk about it and post videos?  Will anyone who wants in be able to get in?  And finally, how much will it cost?

Tasos has certainly done things 'his' way so far.  I wouldn't be surprised if the 'limited launch' requires people to pay and sign an NDA

I just thought the response to why there hasn't been any new videos, presentations, or info 7 days away from the the launch was a bit comical.

That's the type of response you expect to see a year before release. Not a week. I've always found the lack of direct info and presentation on Darkfall as a red flag. It doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong but it always gives you that gut feeling that many of the game features aren't up to par or as promised or many things aren't as great as they wish them to be therefore you never actually get to see anything ... just hear the same old answers to questions that have been asked time and time again.

I'm a vet MMORPG player since well before UO and I've followed the release of just about every large scale MMO to come out. As much as I want Darkfall to own I have always found the lack of info unassuring. While this interview does at least put a little new life into the forum, there should be TONS of life right now as the game is only a week away. We should already have set in stone info, shots, and videos and release info.

I know some of you are always complaining about crying - but guys - 1 week before a game release and you still have about as much info as you did 1-5 years ago - that really doesn't make you feel all that confident.

I just hope it comes out as planned and I hope it's as involving as some of the older MMORPGs. But I don't see this interview as some great leap forward, sorry.

Oh I'm sure there would be some willing to do both... I just don't think it would be legal.

And I was only joking in the other thread about them only being able to handle their 7 employees and their friends and family. It seems I may not have been far off? Even if they can get 10k players- that is only one descent server pop. Knowing that the leaked info has shown this game to be far from ready, how are they going to get enough possitive marketing to warrant multiple servers, if chances are- you will have to pay to play (they need the money badly) and probably deal with an NDA? I have a hard time imagining even 10k asians willing to do this so that they are fully bot ready when the massive release comes...

    -----------------------
Tried- L2, Ryzom, WAR, DDO, PWI, Tab Rasa, Requiem, Champs, AA, JD, PWI, SUN, Dawntide

Played- SWG (pre-cu), AoC, VG, WoW, LoTRO,CoX, EQ2, DAOC, GW, PotBS, Aion, MO,APB, NASA, Fallen Earth, DCUO, Rift

    Playing- EVE, Black Prophecy, TOR

Waiting for- Tera, Jumpgate Evo, WH40K, WWE, WOD, TSW

Thats what I mean about Tasos doing things 'his' way.  No other game would ever charge money for a game that was under an NDA..... but then again.. how many games do you know that haven't updated their website to show a release date that is 7 days away?  How many games haven't released a pricing structure or system specs a week before launch?

Everything about Darkfass is odd.. would it be a stretch to think they would also charge people to play with an NDA still up?
