So.. I guess this means the client for the stress test won't work?
Bah.. I can't even start to download the one posted on the website. It won't let me log in with my user name from stress test and the page to sign up won't load.

What i gather is that the only link available is the "Open Beta" link, but that there will be another stress test before that, which we dont have a link to so that even downloading the open beta client in meaningless now, though it is the only downlaod available, which doesnt seem to be working. . .crystal clear?
Blizzard's spilled the beans. Here are their plans:
The final stress test begins today. People with a FilePlanet Subscription will be able to get a final stress test key. The final stress test will last, on estimate, 5-7 days. Following that, open beta begins and anyone (through both FP standard accounts and Blizzard.com) can sign up for the open beta.
I'm still not sure why they need ANOTHER stress test, won't OB be even more of a ST than a closed ST? Go figure.
Originally posted by Zmerik Wrong client....it's only 2.5g and the CB i have now is over 3g's....installer is right but it points to the wrong client....remember Blizz is going to have OB sign ups before the actual OB begins.
Sorry but it is real. Your current wow folder is that big due to the fact that Blizzard had it so each patch stacked in the folder. So yes you are wrong, and this is the current client. I don't think Caydiem would lie on the forums when she says this is the current. Learn to read buddy thanks.

Thats because the upload speed strangles the download speed. If your upload speed is being overused, it can't send out the little messages to other machines to tell its received downloaded chunks, so your download speed drops. Its like trying to shout to someone through a noisy crowd - they're not likely to notice. Open up a bit of space and the target can hear.
You usually get a 'set max upload speed' setting on these things, so you can save a few Kb/s to allow the downloads through, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.
It's for OB, not final stress test, but I do think you should try to DL this because in the official Open Beta FAQ it said they were killing the dl after they reach their limit for OB. So then there's the mad dash for account creation.
Cool thanks for the heads up nitakrn. I guess I'l wait through this slowww download. I'd arther wait for that than not be able to play OB though. Thanks again.
If I cancel the download, will I be able to restart it from where I left off? Other people want to use the computer tomorrow when I'm not home so I don't want to be a greedy bastard. Damn I fell like a "noob".

Ive not read every post yet as Im damn too tired but I think you are wasting your time downloading the open beta client for the non closed beta testers....
My theory is they are letting the closed beta testers to play open beta already before anyone else while others will play stress test, once stress test will be over the stress test accounts will be taken over the open beta where u will be able to play with ur old friend the closed beta testers...
EDIT : This is why closed beta tester have got to log in to download the client to make sure the other ppl don't waste their time downloading the wrong client! As mentioned the open beta client won't be able to see the stress test server and vice-versa.

Problem is that Blizzard said that except for the BIG patch that the stress test IS open beta as nothing is to change except for that patch before OB so it actually is.
Due to the lack of that LAST patch they can't open it yet to the public.

Think you missed the ball, we are not downloading for the stress test, it's for the open beta, as the installer clearly says. I'd rather get it early than waiting a whole other day after open beta signups begin. Even even this isn't the right client, it could be deleted, no mass castastrophe here.
If you wish to continue your CB account, you NEED the latest (read: both open beta AND stress test) client; these are the same clients, and is labeled as the open beta client. Blizzard will release a patch just in time for OB, so everyone (CB, ST and OB alike) will have the same client and patch.
Currently, ST and CB are segregated. I'd imagine, from what Caydiem said recently, that since CB and ST are segregrated, OB and CB will be as well. Since ST will undoubtedly run on the same servers as OB, I'm thinking ST will become OB, everyone will play together, but CB will STILL be segregated. This will likely be pushed into retail, where CB servers are test servers, like people want.
The last part is purely conjecture. However, my point stands. If you want to continue your CB character, you MUST dl this client. The version differs from what everyone has with CB, and you can't connect to the servers without it.

Is this downlaod useless since only fileplanet subscribers get to play in the stress test?

Wow, I'm averaging 75 Kbs DL and 45 Kbs UL, and only have around 8 hours to go...and then the long, long wait for OB to actually START...

argh, ok now I'm perplexed. I'll deal with this when open beta signups begin.
For those of you who were not closed beta tester and downloading the link to open beta client....cancel now.
1) You won't be able to play on the stress test server
2) You won't be able to login as you need a closed beta account.
Hope this help !
Excuse me if I do it anyway... like I got anything else to do.
