Hey Esquire, not heard from you in a while.

I assume you mean the Chapter 6 PvE difficulty fixes which you were upset about?

This is when all PvE in the game went from completely solable after the NGE broke PvE difficulty to requiring a group for high end stuff.

Overall I think it was a positive change, players have adapted, groups are easy to find and grouping is fun and rewarding.

Force of habit I'm afraid, anytime I see anything that looks like a statement of a problem, I try to provide a solution.  Not sure what I can do for "Totally Unplayable" though.

I got the same feeling when I tried returning to Ultima Online about a year ago, just wasn't the same game I remembered.

So, you really understand what all these vets are saying, then?

If if that is so, why push for more game-breaking CHANGES?

Its too late  for any game breaking changes cannot undue the biggest game broken change.

In a recent poll here , most players play a MMO for community and roleplaying and with that over any other reason and with the over 200k exodus due to the NGE, need less to say SWG severely lost that important reason , its community.

Hey Badger.   Yeah, C6CD was what I was talking about along with GU-whatevers,

I can understand completely why you and other playing vets would want the difficulty back.  It's something that you lost at another game-breaking CHANGE,  However, at C6CD, most of the players that suffered the NGE were gone except for a few.  And those few were and are very vocal on the forums about what they want.  You can still see it everytime the subject comes up of 32 professions.

However, SOE just didn't go after the difficulty with C6CD.  They CHANGED the entire combat system yet again.  Agility, Precision, strenght, etc did not mean the same thing as before the patch.  It went instead to parry, parry, block, block, miss, miss in yet another attempt to "wow-ify" SWG.  They NEVER just do what they are asked, they completly CHANGE the game system to go along with it.

And with the majority of the NGE starter players, this CHANGE at C6CD was just as game-breaking as the original was for most of the people here and the population losses were consistant with the percentages that even happened at NGE.  Kauri was known as a ghost server before C6CD, after C6CD, it was known as a dead server (along with many, many others.)  This necessitated the free transfers that are happening today.

It is interesting to note that SOE Austin has pretty much reversed all the added difficulty they put in at C6CD, now.  With GU-whatever, they gave players more power, and a bunch more buffs, and with very few exceptions, you can solo pretty much everything that you could before their 3rd massive game CHANGE.  That surprised even me,  I can solo SK again.   And that really lends itself to the next question, will you, again, ask for another Chapter 6 Combat Downgrade?

1st question still stands tho,  so you do understand what these vets here are saying, then.   Nice.  After C6CD, I can too.

why did you even bother to transfer ? I see no reason to go back ever. At this point even a pre-cu server wouldnt get me to come back.

Because it was free and I did not want my toon to die on deserted Kauri. Now that I have it only confirms the status of the game even on a Preferred server. Still dying.

That will be SW:TOR . A freash start with a brand new Prima guide. Banning me for 22 months and then handing me the NGE as a bobby prize is not my idea as fun but it appears that SW:TOR will be.

Why do you continue to act like such a victim over getting banned? If you got banned, you more than likely deserved it.

So I started to walk into the water. I won't lie to you boys...I was terrified. But I pressed on, and as I made my way past the breakers, a strange calm came over me. I don't know if it was divine intervention or the kinship of all living things, but I tell you, Jerry, at that moment ... I was a marine biologist.

That is absolutely not true. One of my SWG forum accounts was permabanned just because I made a non-offensive post criticizing the NGE. SOE bans people all the time who don't deserve it.

Kind of like another site we all know and love that has grossly unfair moderation policies.

He's talking banned from the GAME, not the forums. And from what I gather, he was banned from the game for comments made on the forums. And it was WELL before the CU or NGE.

My earlier comment still stands. SOE has a long tradition of banning people from both their forums and their games for arbitrary reasons. Randomly capitalizing every letter in certain words doesn't make that untrue.

HELLLLLO - First off the whys and hows about my 22 month Premagame ban has been repeated by me too many times so instead of repeating it now I am going to remind you that you are on the internet and you should by now know how to retreive such information.

Lets just say that the posts that SOE had a problem were all in good roleplaying fun and only a ship of fools would take them seriously .  So goiterboy wins and kobie is still stiring ihis SOE CrockPot spoon still looking for more fanboi floaters -  bon appetit!

Thier all going that way, WOW sells items, SOE is just getting on board with this, and the new SW mmo/rpg is going to be micro transaction, same thing content for sale.

And your numbers are off, thiers 30k to 50k people still in game.    The top 3 servers have at least 7k people, looking at the math you can see at least 1500-2000 on the heavys logged in,  if you consider that only 20-30% of a server population is logged in the populations alot better than you think.

That 7,000 subscriber number was from *last* year. I'm sure it's much lower now.

Well the 7k number was allegedly hacked more than a year ago, and it was the number of people playing all at once during prime time.  Smed was asked to comment on the accuracy of the figure, in an interview.  He got really pissed off and dodged the question.  Very old news article.  You can google it probably and find it for yourself, anyone who is interested.

Here's the link for all items available in WoW.  I don't see any that are RMT on this list, at all.  If you find one, let me know though please.  If your information is accurate, I like to be enlightened.

CoH has items, but they are costume parts and travel power animations.  There is a power for sale, but it only saves your team, at the cost of your own life; therefore, it cannot give the player who purchases it a competitive advantage.  You don't make yourself more uber by spending more cash.  You only need to pay your subscription fee.

Other games have RMT, but they are free to play.  You may choose to open content or upgrade your character, but this is optional, and everyone knows this going in.

Only SOE has chosen to use an RMT model that makes it necessary to pay over and above your subscription to get the best, performance enhancing gear.  Not only is your subscription insufficient to acquire this gear, but you can't even buy it outright.  You have to purchase TCG card packs that you may not even want, just for a chance at the performance enhancing loot.

So, yes, other games have RMT, but they deliver it in a user friendly manner.  No manipulation, no deception, no gambling with real money.  Only SOE uses these kinds of tactics, and is therefore only further devaluing its brand name in the industry, which is par for the course for Smedley and his gang.

Exactly. The second WoW starts putting things that give combat buffs or other advantages in their card game I'm cancelling my subscription.

If I still had my SWG accounts they would have been canceled with the introduction of this card game scam.

Heh this thread is kind of funny when you consider the past...

You would think for someone who hates SOE so much, that it wouldnt matter what happened to their toons cause there would be no way that person would ever go back.

I guess with the new Bioware game not being the "PRECioUs" in a new shell, that you had no choice but to preserve your characters since SWG is going to be the only sandbox SW game ya get. At least in the next 10 years or so.

I dont imagine anything could be as morale breaking as waiting this long on Bioware, only to find out your playstyle wasnt wanted in the new game. Folks stompped their feet for over 3 years thinking "soon Bioware will have OUR game done". Saw many posts with essentially that very message on this forum.

Gotta be a slap in the face to see that latest post, in the Bioware forum, pertaining to game mechanics. The game appears to be everything a sim player would hate seeing in a game. Granted it may be totally wrong, but I suspect itisnt that far off the truth after playing Bioware games over the years.

I suspect a number of "vets" will be going back to SWG soon. They may still post here, with their hate, but truth be known they will be back playing on a regular basis.

Which will only make their tirades even that much more comical.

Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.

Why so serious OP? Come to lotro on brandywine. All the starting areas have a great population.  It is a great game. Free yourself from the clutches of a bad MMO company.  And return to happiness. Turbine actualy cares about their players. More so then any SOE manager or Lucas Arts yuppy milking the Star Wars name. You need a divorce!

LOTRO is a great game and that is why I played if for about a year . Its a well known franchise done right with a great community and good customer service. My only problem was soloing at higher levels which is the reason I returned to WoW as I play mostly during the day ( while I am working) then to waste my family life or my need to sleep at night.
