QUESTS

* Atzel's Approach: Behind the Ice - Yetis will seem to get caught in the ice more often.

* The Maze: A Queen's Carapace - Quest is now correctly classified under 'The Maze'.

* Wild Lands: Devil's Pass - The Enormous Bear will now spawn when entering the Area even if the first attempt failed. Replaced Nestor's small radius with a normal waypoint.

* Wild Lands: Liniment of Pulchritude - Quest no longer breaks if the player fails to wait while Adeonus is mixing the ointment for Juverna.

* Wild Lands: The Curse of Flies - Quest is now working as intended.

WORLD DESIGN

* Xibaluku: Fixed a collision issue.

* Xibaluku: Blocked off the back of the Jal Kor boss room to avoid exploits.

For those that are not on the test server, it is really obvious they are listening to the feedback especally after a few test server raid groups and siege groups giving direct feedback. If your a current subscriber and want the game to improve or notice something you think could be done better then pop over to the Test Server forums and join the conversation - the evidence is all around that they are listening and doing what the players want.

I think that is an impressive patch Avery. I look so forward to have a go at that new guild Siege system. I also see there is yet again a good deal of bugs squished. It makes a gamers hart very happy.

I wonder how many GB this patch will be when it finally releases because of the extra content for high levels and middle levels, dx10, pvp, etc etc etc....When the patch for lotro came that only added a few dx10 optionas like shadows and lightning and not full dx10 like AoC does it was already 1.3Gb and then it didn't had all those extra content....If I make a little calculation I think it will be 7+GB cause full DX10 will need much space :P How long will it take to download and install this massive update? And will it be adden to a retail version? Like LOtro gold which contains the game and all books (updates, total around 3 GB) till book 14 (it released after this)...?

In total since December for me it has been just under 2gb.(4 updates) It will go through more optimization when released on the live servers which shouldn't be too far off.

I'm sure the retail version will be updated too probably a month or so after it has been out.

This latest patch above from the Yellow part was 326mb for me.

You'd think so, but they never did with Anarchy Online, you had to DL years of patching and do muliple restarts to update to the current version when doing a fresh install of the game, even when you were DLing the client directly from FC.

Wait....they will release it on the final servers and then do more optimizations? Bad thing if you ask me cause then people will complain again about problems with performance, things that aren't finished etc. Better finish on Test Servers and then release it in one time..

Depends. All MMOs do this, the only thing that varies is the level of severity.

Even WoW (just using the common benchmark) has bad patches, like the most recent one. I didn't read all the details, but I've seen plenty of people unhappy with the game after the patch.

Sig so that badges don't eat my posts.

I'm sorry, I mean't "even" more optimization as time goes on. It is about a 20FPS hit for me on test server at the moment.

Try EverQuest 2. If you have to reinstall that one, then you can be sure you spend a day downloading and patching lol.

great patch looks like aoc is now gonna be the killer game it should have been 8 months ago. how many servers are there now after the merges and how is the population now?

  • InzraInzra Member Posts: 679

I'd assume that the original cd's wont have added  the pathes.

Instead I think the patches will be added to the expansion cd's, unless that expansion will take unreasonable long time to release.

That's what they did in WoW anyway.

Whoa! Long list. Bookmarking and reading later. :-)

I'm bringing some friends to the game next week or the one after. I'll prepare for complaints about patching time. :-p

I go from the 50's in DX9 down to mid to low 20s FPS in DX10. E8400 OC'ed to 3.5 MhZ on a cheapass Gigabyte board, 2 gig DDR2 1066 ram,  Windows 7 32 bit, GTX260 OC'ed to 750/1150. Other games give me about the same FPS in DX10 or DX9.

Just my opinion here but a  lot of effects are still over the top and the game overall looks better in DX9. Fog effects are cool and the water is probably the best I have ever seen in a game. On the bad side lighting effects are way overblown  the  vegetation movement is awful. Combine that with the FPS hit and I really prefer the game in DX9. I tried it again last night to see how it would run post patch and found it pretty much the same as pre patch.

DX10 has a ways to go before prime time in my opinion, but then that is what test servers are for Besides the game is still gorgeous in DX9.

I know people would raise hell but if I were FC I would separate the DX10 from the rest of the patch and not release it till it was further optimized.

    I miss DAoC

I have 2 PC's that I play on depending on which one the wife pinches from me.

1st is an E8400 overclocked (varies on stability on heat (and changing my CPU cooler often lol) - mostly above 3.6ghz ) 8gb ram, 2x8800 GT OC SLI and an EVGA 780i Mobo for basic's.

2nd is Q9450 overclocked at 3.73ghz, Asus Rampage forumula II motherboard, 4870X2 and 8gb RAM.

The second one gets me better FPS I play the game on max setting both on 24inch monitor at 1900x1200 resolution.

With DX 10 on average the first machine gets me around 45 is FPS, there was a good optimization mini patch that went in the other day. On the second it is a bit higher but not to much. On DX9 max the first one is pretty much always 60 FPS plus apart from large fights same with the second machine. Although I am upgrading one of them in within the next month as some nice new parts are out and it is bonus month at work :P

I will do a video when it comes out on live servers and had it's good run on test server as it is a bit unfair to think it will end up better or worse at this point in the middle of the development cycle.

I can't launch the game in DX10 either (launching in tiny window bug).

But I also noticed that these invisible barriers are there when riding on a horse. And then you cannot jump over them.

But nonetheless... I was able to run the DX9 client on Test Live, but rather would have checked out the DX10 one hehe.

dunno if this will work for you but I get that also on the first  launch. I simply close it out and on the second try it starts fine.

Also Avery what optimization last patch. I get exactly the same FPS as before patch and even in outlying areas can't get above 30 FPS  and that would be a peak not a average - see system specs in my last post.

It looks like DX10 will be kept on the test server a bit longer so different configurations and setup of PC can be tested further. Instead we have Black Ring Citadel Wing 3.

Patch 4 still looks massive with 2 level 80 dungeons, 1 level 43-ish dungeon, and Wing 3 open up for Raids.

So maybe 2 week for patch 4 and maybe another 2 weeks after for the DX10.

now i dont play AOC but i wanted to check and see where AOC is atm as a whole. And i gotta say this is a very impressive patch, i see tons of fixes, some of them i would have benefited from back from when i used to play. That new director is taking AOC in the right direction i think.
