If he was smart he would get the pre order information in now before he lifts the NDA. This would be today or tomorrow. He would then release the NDA sometime this week-end after he has given the people time to pre order. Once the game comes out and everyone sees how un-finished it is, they will quit, but not until after they got screwd out of $50. This is really the only way they will make a profit now.
Yes because the SECOND he lifts the NDA all these poor loyal Beta testers can finally run free and tell everyone what a crap game it is, funny that ppl who disliked the game remained so loyal to the NDA while the people who liked where apperently all leakers.
Im sure lifting the NDA will give a completly new view of the game that will contradict all the leakers imidietly...

They severly limited who could get into beta to begin with. Only the most 'fanboyish' people from the official forums were invited. At most there are 1500 total people in beta, and a ton of them were recently banned for posting negative comments on the beta forums.
I have yet to see a single beta 'leak' that said the game was ready for launch. All of them talk about 'most features' still being turned off, including such basic things as monster spawns.
And again, these are the biggest fanboys from the official forums talking... What happened to the 'press invite' that was supposed to happen the first week of January? Another Tasos lie.

Once they lift the NDA, OMG, that magical patch will be in place too and everyone will see how fucking great this revolutionary game is, and millions... no billions of people will be throwing hundred dollar bills at Tasos and be willing to pay him a thousand US dollars for the client!
The game will EASILY be worth $100, even $200, or $500!
OMG, what will all the other companies like Mythic. Turbine and Blizzard do? They should just shut down NOW and save themselves the embarrassment that will surely be upon them when Mr Tasos and mighty Aventurine Inc put them to such shame when they launch upon the world the amazing... the extraordinary... the incredible "Darkfall Online!"

Two can be sarcastic asses like you always seem to be whenever someone says anything you don't like reading about your beloved game. You never actually combat their argument, you just make some lame totally sarcastic response as if that invalidates all doubts and skepticism about Darkfall somehow.
I think the game will release on the 25th .. but only to pre-orders.
I predict the rest of us will have to wait, possibly for a month or so, while AV use the preorders for the stress test and squash the inevitable bugs.
This isn't a bad thing tho .. the fanbois get to play their game, and will love it even if it is NQR (not quite right), and us normal folk will wait a little longer and will eventually get a quality game upon the 'real release'
This is basically my take on the situation, I'm having a fairly good time with LOTRO right now and will continue even when I try out DF but I'm just not the type to play incomplete games. I don't mind not beta testing nor waiting until they get it right, but one thing is becoming a bit too evident is this game is either gonna have to delay again or release NQR as you put it.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
geez people, i might be drunk right now, but did any of you haters ever stop to think about what happens if darkfall fails? I mean, come on, we all love video games ( i say video because I'm old) and i prefer to see all games succeed because it keeps people employed, keeps gamers happy, and the world can be a better place for it. Listen, I have not kept up with the development of this game but I do hope it is successful. The more MMOs (or games in general) that succeed and the more gamers we have in the world means that most of the world's populace is becoming complacent and would rather waste their time (all activities are a waste of time) playing games than doing stupid things like joining the military and killing real life people. Yeah yeah I know I am drunk and over-simplifiying things but, geez, we should all hope that games succeed and not fail. Isn't that why we are all gamers? We love to game. So lets all play games and hope all games succeed!!!!

No I usually combat their argument.
There is no magic patch.
Most of the issues like melee swing times, blocking costing too much stam, and magic damage have already been fixed.
Apart from those balance issues, what more do u need?
Boats? Better Animations? fog?
Well thats u, I dont care about that, for my part a pvp mmo, with FFA rules and full loot, casting, melee, crafting, town building and sieging, red vs blue, faction vs faction and guild vs guild is a game I want to play.
TBH I dont the game will be delayed per se. No, I think its actually time to scrap the current DF engine and start again atop current gen technology like they did a few years ago. That way they can delay it for another 3 years!
Playing polished, lag free, feature complete games is carebear. Whining about a game you hate but still play is hardcore man!

pushing the release back or not from all the leaks ive seen i can say that, considering the hype, DF doesnt impress me at all. the "pvping" is all about who has the most stamina to keep running, the sound/graphics are not top notch but i like the athmosphere (yes im not bashing the game at all points!!1one)
theres just nothing that makes DF stand out. the full loot hardcore pvp stuff can be found in other, more polished games. as far as the subs first month will be 100-200k and 3 months after launch it will be 50k
MMOs currently playing: - About to play: Lord of the Rings Online Played: Anarchy Online (alltime favorite) and lots of f2p titles (honorable mentions: 9Dragons, Martial Heroes, Dekaron, Atlantica Online)

The problems you have just listed still exists and were never fixed. Also the game is not Red verses Blue, in its current state it is more like Blue runs infront of another Blue, turns grey, other blue and his friends kill said Blue, or my personal favorite big tower of death shoots you.
Due to the travel times most people just kill their own race, due to the highly exploitible alignment system there is no risk, ARAC are very popular due to this. Dont even get me started on the exploits surrounding the tower.
The games not really free for all either theres a lot of safe zones caused by said towers. Crafting is a grindfest atm, ill sum up sieging for you, the other day a guild took a clan stone using mana missiles and bows in a few minutes. Yes epic sieging you have there.
This makes city building in its current state pretty pointless due to the amount of effort you put into building it, only to have it taken away by the very easy to do 3 am raids. Moreover its just as easy to take it back with this problem.
The games clan verses clan, not faction verses faction in the current state of the game.
Full loot is useless, because there is no risk in losing your gear, it is easily obtainable, theres universal banks, and eventually crafters will be shitting out sets of gear for you. All gear has very little difference in stats, you can run around destroying people as a naked noob so to speak.
And lastly zerging > anything in this game due to the terrible combat system, and due to the above listed problem with no risk.
Sorry to rain on your parade but that is the true state of the game and unless they push it back it will fail miserably.

wrong, u should really check up on the latest patchnotes.

Yeah UO was like that as well, in the very beginning of a character advancement, typical noob zone tactic, noone will fall for it after playing a few days.
Due to the travel times most people just kill their own race, due to the highly exploitible alignment system there is no risk, ARAC are very popular due to this. Dont even get me started on the exploits surrounding the tower.
Once again, with no guildies around to protect you, yeah u will be attacked by everyone, sorry.
And new MMOs have bugs, hopefully bugs and exploits wil be fixed, no reason to assume it will not.
The games not really free for all either theres a lot of safe zones caused by said towers.
They are not safe zones, a grey or a red isn't safe there.
And having guarded areas around banks makes perfect sense, I always laugh when i hear ppl thinking it wasn't going to be this way. Ultima Online has a MUCH strickter guard system around every town and moongate.
Crafting is a grindfest atm, ill sum up sieging for you, the other day a guild took a clan stone using mana missiles and bows in a few minutes. Yes epic sieging you have there.

I completly agree, this is one part of the game they need to shape up. The raid system needs to mirror Shadowbane. From what I can gather thou its a pretty unanimous consenus among the playerbase that this needs to change, so hopefully they will get around to it.
The games clan verses clan, not faction verses faction in the current state of the game.
I dont think so, i think due to the nature of the alignement system there will always be plenty of ppl looking for faction kills.
In any case Guild vs guild is where its all at, that IMO is the BEST part of pvp.
Full loot is useless, because there is no risk in losing your gear, it is easily obtainable, theres universal banks, and eventually crafters will be shitting out sets of gear for you. All gear has very little difference in stats, you can run around destroying people as a naked noob so to speak.
Thats fine, never expected gear to be worth that much in the early stages of the game, if at all.
And lastly zerging > anything in this game due to the terrible combat system, and due to the above listed problem with no risk.
I disagree, i think that since u can miss and hit ur own teammates with both melee and spells it allows for some interesting tactics in group vs group. And a well organized group can use that to their advantage defeating a lesser organized Zerg attack. Ofcourse it will take time for people to get good at the way combat works.
Sorry to rain on your parade but that is the true state of the game and unless they push it back it will fail miserably.
nono, thats fine, no need to apologize, if uve got any insight at all please feel free to share it.
I understand that Darkfall is not for everyone, and from what u have said I dont think u would enjoy a game like darkfall in any situation, but Im not like you, so anything u can tell us about the game I would appreciate.
Darkstar if it is not apparent already I am in the beta and can see with my own eyes what this game is and what it isnt. Right now the majority of people in the beta are in agreement that this game needs a hell of a lot more time for the reasons that I have listed.
It is unlikely however that anything will be or can be done in such a short period of time, it is also un-likely that they will lift the NDA hence why I am breaking it.
Right now I think Darkfall only has 2 things going for it assuming it is released on the 25th, and they dont delay. 1. it is by far the best designed gameworld I have seen, everywhere you go there is something to see. And second if they overhaul the combat system and fix the obvious exploits it is very likely they will be a successful for an indy company because this game is fairly solid. I have had no problems with stability playing the game but theres only around 2000 people I would say in game, so they seriously need to stress the servers.
However it is very obvious they will not do any of that any time soon, and you will most likely be playing a very alphaish game if you choose to play it at launch, I dont see why anyone should pay for its potential and not only that at a higher fee than everyone else at launch.
Ive actually just unistalled the game today, I doubt theres really any more testing that can be done to help them with a week to go so I did not really see the point of playing anymore.
I will say however despite all its flaws if they fixed the games combat system, and fixed the alignment system with its associated issues. I would quite happily buy the game, it deffinatly is not for everyone which is true, but it will I believe appeal to those looking for a good clan verses clan game if they fix the afformentioned problems. Btw I did not say I dont like this game, I am saying it is not ready for release because its fundemental mechanics are not working correctly, and thus they need to fix them.
Btw I think I came off as an arsehole in my last post, sorry about that.

I don't believe you're in the beta.
And if you are, shouldn't you be banned from this site for breaking NDA?
So the game takes like 2 decades to develop and people scream it's vaporware because of it. Now that it's obviously going to release those same people are screaming it's not ready, delay.
Personally I don't think that 99.9% of you know what your talking about anyways. I'm also of the opinion that people that release leaks from beta don't care about testing and shouldn't be in the beta to begin with. They're there for thier free trial, and those that release negative comments about a beta aren't likely to like the game no matter how well it is.
There is, after all, a reason software companies don't do reviews during beta.
I'll have to disagree. Tasos himself told this site just last week there's no truth to the rumors that there would be a delay, (yes , I know, when did I start believing him?) however I also think they've hit the bottom of the well when it comes to cash and they need to get some coming in now. (understandable of course) Their limited launch will enable them to control the influx of players, and the pent up demand should actually work to their favor, especially if most folks playing really enjoy it. Of course, I could be wrong, but that's the fun of DF, always trying outguess that sly fox Tasos.
kyleran hits the nail on the head again.
plus in a leaked dev statements to beta community it was basically saying they know the game isn't perfect (so it can't have been tasos), and sounded like they just want to release anyway.
so all the people who like mmo's getting delayed because they prefer thick layers of polish should probably stay clear of the game for a while. but for impatient bastards like me who want to play the game now even if it should really be still in beta, its good news.

I really dont care if you dont believe me at the end of the day I have played the game which is the release canditate and therefore I can make an informed decision on if I play the game or not. Whether you or anyone buys it without taking in what I or others say or not is not my problem is it?
Besides in all likely hood the game will release soon and everyone can see for themselves what the game is like which is of course the best way to see if you like the game.
And yes I probably will be banned, but I rarely visit anymore anyway so it is not much of a loss.

Alright fair enough.
Thanks for ur assesment anyway.
Can I have ur Beta key?
If ur done playing the game I would like a chance to try it out, even if its only for a few days.

No you haven't played the release canditate; nor can you make an informed decision.
I've beta tested a couple MMO's and each one had a release patch, and features activated that weren't on for general testing.
It's not the release canditate till it's actually released, or the devs state the the they are testing all features of the release canditate.

And I have played a lot of betas and a hell of a lot of mmos, I know for a fact that there is very rarely if ever a miracle patch that fixes the biggests flaws for the game. And yes this is the release candidate according to the developers on the beta test forums, in fact most of the features are turned on.
All that is likely to happen in this short time is the exploits being fixed, which is fair enough. But it is highly unlikely they will change or add new mechanics this close to release.
Anyway I dont want to get in to petty arguments I am sure you can wait for a couple of days and see with your own eyes what this game is.
edit: To Darkstar: No offence but I am not going to PM someone my account information. They are inviting around 30 to 50 people a day, so I would just stay active on their forums and you might get picked if you are lucky.

/end sarcasm
Two can be sarcastic asses like you always seem to be whenever someone says anything you don't like reading about your beloved game. You never actually combat their argument, you just make some lame totally sarcastic response as if that invalidates all doubts and skepticism about Darkfall somehow.

Of course Tacos delayed it again. You can't break old habits?
If the game isn't ready then why doesn't he just stop saying it is then delaying it again...and again...and..of course again.
Way to go, Tacos.
Can't we just all get along? >D

Darkfall = Epic fail.
Omfg...You read my mind. : O

pushing the release back or not from all the leaks ive seen i can say that, considering the hype, DF doesnt impress me at all. the "pvping" is all about who has the most stamina to keep running, the sound/graphics are not top notch but i like the athmosphere (yes im not bashing the game at all points!!1one)
theres just nothing that makes DF stand out. the full loot hardcore pvp stuff can be found in other, more polished games. as far as the subs first month will be 100-200k and 3 months after launch it will be 50k
MMOs currently playing: -
About to play: Lord of the Rings Online
Played: Anarchy Online (alltime favorite) and lots of f2p titles (honorable mentions: 9Dragons, Martial Heroes, Dekaron, Atlantica Online)

There is, after all, a reason software companies don't do reviews during beta.
kyleran hits the nail on the head again.
plus in a leaked dev statements to beta community it was basically saying they know the game isn't perfect (so it can't have been tasos), and sounded like they just want to release anyway.
so all the people who like mmo's getting delayed because they prefer thick layers of polish should probably stay clear of the game for a while. but for impatient bastards like me who want to play the game now even if it should really be still in beta, its good news.
My blog:

So we should ban this guy right? Or..... could they still delay it....... dun dun dun
