yes, Tortage was amazing when the game first came out as well, it was after that where it became bad. But I dunno about now, left after 2-3 weeks of play. Lemme know what you think of it post 30 and i may resub

i will, maybe in a couple of days...
and honestly, i really really really hope this game is not as bad as people claim it to be... cause i dont wanna go back playing mmo's with old gen graphics.
oh and and btw, the outlaw system is what eve online is doing, and everybody is praising it for that. unless i misunderstood the new PvP of AoC, if i did then somebody plz explain
Having never played EvE, I went to read up on their flagging system...and yes, it looks almost exactly the same.
Most people complain due to the close quarters of AoC compared to a starship system, where wide playfields can affect aiding a flagged criminal or not. For example, if a player is too close to another high level and gets caught in splash damage...bam, the high level gets flagged. It has led to some gaming the system...like level 80's tagging along with level 20's into fights and getting another player flagged thanks to this system.
No PvP system is perfect, and balance is always a problem...but, of course AoC seems to get the rap due to so many hating the game in general.
It works perfectly on the RP-PvP server as the asshats are few and far between...hehe.

I guess it depends on what the meaning of "bad" is...
While I'm having my doubts at the moment, I know for certain that WAR and WoW and the similar games aren't don't have what I want. AoC is the closest I've seen. I'm just not sure if it will keep me interested and thus, resubbed.
it's obviously not normal behaviour for an average player who just didn't like the game to post so much on a game they don't even play anymore
Great.. another "expert" on human psychology
It's perfectly normal behavior to "bash" a game you don't like. Pick up a book on marketing. It's a known fact that when people get scammed they like to tell it to everyone.
These "AoC haters" are part of mmorpg.com community and have a right to voice their opinions even if they differ from yours. It's important for potential customers to hear both sides of the story.
We all know AoC had a bad launch and about 90% of gamers quit the game. What some of you don't understand is taht most of these 90% didn't quit because of technical issues, they quit because they didn't like the CORE of the game.
Like it or not, even though FC has done a lot of patching, the game is still the same. If you look at the content, basically nothing has changed. Try to understand that Ymir's Pass didn't change the game at all. It's just a new zone among the others.
What is NOT normal, is to post 20 posts a day (like our OP here) saying how amazing AoC is and how everyone should buy it. Don't you see how weird that is?
Why are these people not playing the game if it is so good? Why do they spend their free time here instead of Hyboria?
These are the questions we should be asking. Although most of us know the answer already.
So you sent questionaires to the 90% that quit asking why they did?
Thought not, another post full of Mr Moonbeam's Magical Stats.
People post how wonderful WoW is and I dont see you over there ranting.
What have they achieved in 5yrs? A carebear grindfest made for 10yr olds,WotLK was same old and the game is still the same (see a pattern here) oh and 75% of WoW players dont PvP or raid (see making up stats is easy).
What I do find funny is that your join date is so new and all you seem to post is AoC hate posts......you seem pretty clued up on how Ymir's Pass plays and yet profess to have been scammed, etc.
Why you still paying to play if you feel so wronged?
I declare shenanigans !!!!!!
Something not right with your posts tbh, probbly a WoW or EvE intern sent on a secret mission to spread malicious propaganda thru Intranet land.
Funny how you just fell into these forums and started wailing on AoC yet seem to know soooo much about it.
Tell you what....why don't you and any other AoC whiner disappear for a few months and make their own MMO and see what the results are.
We all know what the result will be dont we ................................
I want to say something about a post on one of the earlier posts. Something about raids being buggy and tank and spank fights, this is not true at all. I raid almost every day, and even at lower high levels, say mid 60's, the raid content works well. Say in amphitheater, none of the three boss fights in there are tank and spank at all! There are tactics to playing this area, as well as a lot of others. As far as the murder system, I think it sucks, but it is a punishment, I dont like jail either!
oh and and btw, the outlaw system is what eve online is doing, and everybody is praising it for that. unless i misunderstood the new PvP of AoC, if i did then somebody plz explain

Well good news for your comment on splash damage there. Patch 1.04 has an improvement for that in fact. It got added with the 13th of Feb batch of content.
Added February 13th, 2009
GENERAL
* Made several improvements to the Warlord Repadis encounter in Xibaluku.
* Fixed some causes of crashing.
* General improvements made to encounters in the Slaughterhouse and the Cradle of Decay.
COMBAT
* When charmed by an npc, you will always move with jogspeed, regardless of crowd control abilities that slow you down.
* Players who are being knocked back will no longer be able to enter Spellweaving until they get back up.
* Necromancers will no longer automatically receive the Spellweaving buff window upon entering Spellweaving state. The chance to receive this buff window is now equal to that of all other Spellweaving classes.
GUI
* You now get a confirmation popup to verify you really want to loot bind on equip items.
* Waypoints for the new dungeon areas (Xibaluku, Slaughterhouse, Cradle of Decay) have been added to the worldmap and local maps.
PVP
* Con range has been changed to 8 (meaning that you can now attack players 8 levels lower than you without getting murder points or criminal status).
* Players' nametags should show as gray only if they DO give you murderpoints for killing them. Low level players' tags should change to red if they attack you, and back again after about a minute.
* When attacking a target with melee or spells, the damage will no longer splash to nearby targets, unless either of the following is true:
-The current target will also give murderpoints.
-The splash target has previously been attacked by you.
-The splash target will not give you murderpoints.
Thus, when being attacked by a single member of a low level group, that members' nametag should change from gray to red. During the time at which the tag is red, you can freely attack that member, and the damage should not splash to the other players in the group. If you at some point change your mind and attack other (innocent) players of the group, the damage should splash to all nearby targets and keep on doing so even if you go back to your original red-tagged target.
PVP Minigames
* Capture the Skull: It's no longer possible to overwrite the carrying skull debuff by using Last Stand.
oh and and btw, the outlaw system is what eve online is doing, and everybody is praising it for that. unless i misunderstood the new PvP of AoC, if i did then somebody plz explain

Awesome stuff. The PvP system is coming right along then. That seemed to be the main complaint and why people had issues with the new consequence system.
i dont know, you guys are making me dizy. i got the game like a week ago, my experience til lvl20 in tortage is impressive, the games runs perfect, no bugs no lags... so all the arguments about how the game is buggy are ppointless now... the game is so far great. beyond lvl20, i dont know yet, but i think thats what most people are complaining about.
Most people like Tortage but get bored of the game after that. Especially endgame in AoC is really weak. AoC endgame might become playable if Funcom survives long enough to add tons of new content.

Jesus Christianbal did u lost money u invested in funcom or something? You really have some sort of crusade againts this game lol, nice post history there
1. Raids are bugged beyond belief. The ones that work are boring tank/spank fights. Nothing has changed on this front. The big 'endgame' is stannding around chatting.
2. The pvp consequence system is terrible. Almost 75% of current subscribers said it was terrible in the recent survey. This was the biggest gameplay addition in 9 months, and it failed terribly
3. The game has 3-4 servers with populations. The rest are ghosttowns. AOC tried to launch new servers a few weeks ago, they are completely deserted and will probably be 'merged' soon. The game is less than a year old, and has lost 75% of it's servers, and another 50% of those left should be merged.
4. Worst development team. Other games are putting out patches every month. AOC has the same 'patch' lingering on it's test realm for almost 3 months now. All fans of the game can do is talk about the stuff that will be released 'soon'. The last patch that added content was months and months ago, and the content that was added was finished in a few days and then forgotten.
5. <Mod edit>
i'll believe this more then i'll ever believe the AoC is so amazing now!!! posts. especially since i stayed with this pos for months and got to endgame with every class excluding the priests i cant stand them.
i even returned to the game once cause i read a post saying its so great now! and returned to find it just as i left it LOL

Man I hate those "AoC is amazing now!" -posts. They are part of a dishonest Funcom viral marketing campaign. Goal is to get gullible people resubscribe.
Anyone who is playing the game at the moment knows that it's basically the same game it was at launch. Performance is better but other things haven't changed.
I will NOT resub to AoC regardless of how many posts there are telling us this game is now wonderful. You had your chance FC. You had my money. No more.

I was actually thinking about investing in Funcom back in 2007. Then I got accepted into beta and changed my mind I can guarantee that nobody in beta bought one single Funcom stock
No crusade. I just think the game is boring and there is no MMO feeling to it.

So do all the customers in your restaurant play Conan???
Is this where the 90% magic stats come into it?
Order a rare steak and get a free AoC questionaire?
Most people dont give a rat's ass about your tiresome rantings so back to the grill Burgerman....
Apologies....90% of people (weeee stats is fun).
Come on be a man, tell us the real reason you are on a crusade, did Funcom turn you down for a job?
Must be something hidden under the surface because you seem quite intent to expose conspiracies left, right and centre.
So step up and post the real reason behind your incessant drivel.....
It's not going to work. I will NOT resub to AoC regardless of how many posts there are telling us this game is now wonderful. You had your chance FC. You had my money. No more.
at least one honest post.
you are angry with Fancom (which is very understandable by the way) and you just dont wanna give them your money anymore. that is good and thats a personal choice at least better than making up lies after lies about the game like some angry players are doing.
from my side, i rather give my money to a Company who has been and still in hardship in order to provide ME with a top notch product than to give my money to a company like Blizzard who dindt actually even update the graphoics engine of WOW IN FREAKING 5 YEARS ! OMG i cant believe that !
as long as Funcom are ready to work hard, acknowledge and fix their bugs, then its ok with me, yes they screwed up big time first, but they fired half the staf and they will be hiring new guys soon.
I was actually thinking about investing in Funcom back in 2007. Then I got accepted into beta and changed my mind I can guarantee that nobody in beta bought one single Funcom stock

Actually like I have said before, I have never paid one cent of subscription fees. My subs were a gift from Funcom and other sources.

Awesome stuff. The PvP system is coming right along then. That seemed to be the main complaint and why people had issues with the new consequence system.
Thanks for the notes....and cheers!
Most people like Tortage but get bored of the game after that. Especially endgame in AoC is really weak. AoC endgame might become playable if Funcom survives long enough to add tons of new content.

It's not going to work.
I will NOT resub to AoC regardless of how many posts there are telling us this game is now wonderful. You had your chance FC. You had my money. No more.

I was actually thinking about investing in Funcom back in 2007. Then I got accepted into beta and changed my mind I can guarantee that nobody in beta bought one single Funcom stock
No crusade. I just think the game is boring and there is no MMO feeling to it.

Makes sense to keep paying to play it for 9 months then!
Great.. another "expert" on human psychology
Do you really beleive that WoW and EVE are sweating AOC?

Gaming since 1985 and still going strong.
at least one honest post.
you are angry with Fancom (which is very understandable by the way) and you just dont wanna give them your money anymore. that is good and thats a personal choice at least better than making up lies after lies about the game like some angry players are doing.
from my side, i rather give my money to a Company who has been and still in hardship in order to provide ME with a top notch product than to give my money to a company like Blizzard who dindt actually even update the graphoics engine of WOW IN FREAKING 5 YEARS ! OMG i cant believe that !
as long as Funcom are ready to work hard, acknowledge and fix their bugs, then its ok with me, yes they screwed up big time first, but they fired half the staf and they will be hiring new guys soon.
so cheers

Actually like I have said before, I have never paid one cent of subscription fees. My subs were a gift from Funcom and other sources.
problem with age of conan is that funcom told lots and lots of lies and i dont trust liars with my money.
