Don't know if it means anything but last night I created the 9677th account. Anyone create an account more recent than that to get an idea of how many people signed up (for accounts, not preorder).
Seeing as they're limiting the release, I highly doubt they allowed preorders to the full capacity yet, somewhere around 50-75%, with the rest allowing to buy on the 25th.. Aventurine hasn't released any hard numbers of customers that they are "allowing" to get into the game on release, so every number everyone posts is just opinion. Until Aventurine releases some numbers on the amount of players allowed in the release, or we get some rough estimations of server activity after release, everything is just speculation.
thier not going to give you the laughable numbers. cause they want to make it out like veryone and thier brother wants in...damand to high.. BAhahaha na its capacity overload.. But i thought for sure you could get alot more clowns in that little shinny red car!!!!
This is a good sign of good buisness practice. They are only taking as many players as they can handle but at the same time not scam the rest who are waiting out of their money.
This is AV's server room. I hear they are going to be adding a cooling system with the pre-order money that overloaded their server and burned it up, as you can see.

Good props in my eyes.

Oh I thought DF champions says the dev will give ppl a free trial b4 paying, and ...
I believe I see enough weakness in the dev not to praise them for everything they did. I just feel like watching and withholding comments till the dust settles. Many thing the dev did I found to be odd and funny. Not a good way to reinforce my faith.

This is mere trolling as they are using money to invest in newer better servers such as this,
Tasos is inside keeping the hamsters on wheels whilst he gets his passports and airplane tickets for when AV flee with gamers money to Nepal!

Excellent, is already more sold accounts then they expected and they need to makes profit ..
I am sure they could raise the prize too $150 and still would be sold out ..

One of last hat got his email got number 14500 so good luck 1 server they never tested avbove 3k peeps never tested endgame, hahaha.
It will be a disaster 15k on one server laggy like hell and fighting around 20 starter mobs for maybe 3k players area:P
Games played:AC1-Darktide'99-2000-AC2-Darktide/dawnsong2003-2005,Lineage2-2005-2006 and now Darkfall-2009..... In between WoW few months AoC few months and some f2p also all very short few weeks.
Whilst the "sold out" phrase is more marketing than anything else (they are really just "at full capacity"), I dont think they had any other option but a soft launch. It actually makes more sense given their financial situation.
They dont have the resources of EA for example, so launching massively like WAR isnt an option. And ofcourse WAR had lots of servers all of which had queues, yet they've been in server transfer and consolidation mode ever since the 2nd month and subs dropped dramatically.
Without jumping the gun I think this early massive demonstration of overwhelming demand and excitement could very well indicate the possibility that we may of finally found the WoW killer.
Will be interesting to see what happens when these 10-15k people attempt to make accounts, log in, patch, and then play Darkfall tomorrow.
Sheesh, do you guys want them to take more people in than they can hold? I mean the trolling and hating keeps getting to ridiculously high levels with each new announcement. If Aventurine had taken more than they can handle, then servers become unstable and crash, and you guys will go whining about the Aventurine scam and the game doesn't even work. But, instead of doing that, they take orders to meet what they are capable of handling so now they are something totally different and bad, liars or whatever.
Kyleran, a massive troll in the past, is at least posting something smart about this and at least has figured out why Aventurine is doing things a certain way. However, I sense some attempts in his posts to bash as well. The rest of you are just a buncha mindless chimps making grunts and screams at each other, to make yourselves feel good after you got owned in your predictions in the past.
Everything this company does gets trolled to death by misinformation or flat out lies by haters and trolls. This company, who doesn't come close to the same level as Turbine in deceit, has done nothing to warrant any of this stupidity from the haters or trolls. You all expect them to run as smoothly as a $20 - $30 mil budget studio who has released several MMOs already and has proprietary software already built and ready to go.
It's funny, Turbine gets the studio of the year award, yet have more fails in the MMO industry than any of the major developers. Yet, if you point to Turbine's flaws you are hammered hard, by many who come to DF and hammer Aventurine for their 'supposed' fail.
Seriously, I'm about done with mmorpg.com. It's like watching Idiocracy if it had no funny parts.

Of course you are making the assumption that Aventurine have only allowed the number of people they can definitely handle, some people who have previous experience of Aventurines competency and Darkfalls beta have reason to doubt that they will even be able to handle this relatively small amount adequately.
I'm quite sure even with this low number the server will still be unstable and crash, and there will be problems, and some people who have pre ordered will still be whining about being scammed and the game not even working or not being what was advertised.
And I'm quite sure people like you will still be defending Aventurine with more excuses and insults and will still be claiming you are finally done with MMORPG.com because its full of stupid idiot lying hater pre ordering trolls.

What, are you starting to get nervous that DF might not be your next MMO dev drama fix or you might be losing your MMO dev drama fix?
Have to respect Aventurine for this. A greedier company would have just grabbed the over-capacity subs and then threw their hands up in the air on the 25th.
If I recall correctly, this is what happened to Blizzard in the first week of WoW release. Waaaay too many people, queues that lasted 45-60 minutes to log in. Doubled the number of servers within a week.
Otherwise you end up with a gross overestimation of servers, and have to merge within a couple of months. Eg. PotBS, etc, etc, etc. PotBS was absolutely comical in their estimation of subs.
Aventurine may screw up a lot of things, but this was the right decision.
Thousands of online game enthusiasts were left out of pocket earlier today when it emerged that the much anticipated MMO game "Darkfall Online" was nothing more than an elaborate fraud.
FBI investigators estimate as many as 40,000 pre-orders were placed in the days leading up to the games official "release", and hopeful subscribers have lost out to the tune of over $2m. Russian trade minister Igor t'Riptoff made a brief statement in an apparent attempt to divert blame from his own government, instead pointing the finger at rogue elements within the Ukrainian Navy.
Darkfall Online had been in "development" for over 5 years, but it would seem that the huge following of fans it had acquired over that time, was nothing more than a cynical ploy to maximise their fraud. A spokesman for Visa reassured its customers that any money lost in the fraud would be refunded, however a spokesman for Paypal refused to comment.
