WORST RELEASE IN HISTORY?

TruthisnowTruthisnow Member Posts: 29

well lets see..

its not a weapon

its not food

its not even a toy

its a computer program

it won't blow up the world, it won't make you sick, and when you are done with it, you just have to delete it.

worst release? no

release with the most seconds used to keep rechecking the updates.

maybe because its the best release in history

allowing us to buy the game online and then play it right away...this is brilliant. i hope its a scam and i find out soon. i haven't bought it yet.

considering they already missed the 25th, what release? the game isnt out yet.

their pre-order system was the worst in history.

their account management was the worst in history.

their client updater is one of the worst in history.

their launch is by far the worst in history.

Hey, you've said this on every single topic on this forum. How about you get your mother to make you some milk and cookies so you can calm down and go to bed now? No one cares what you think.

Right now at the Funcom offices they are popping champagne bottles and cheering...

There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

Well the 25th has passed in Greece and the servers have not even come up. People have paid for the game amd were not able to get in when promised.

From that perspective it is one of the worst ever in that at least in other badly released games you could maybe at least log in.

It definitely ranks up there with Star Wars Galaxies and Anarchy Online.  You could actually create an account and play on release day for both of those launches.

You fail as a fanbot, if you were a true fanbot you'd be running on Aventurine's (Greece's) clock.

This has become pretty standard for releases as far as I can see. There have been a few good releases but even they had an incredible amount of bashing here for anything and nothing. Anyone denying this either wasn't there or is lieing, simple really.

Having said that it is still no excuse, in all honesty I believe each and everyone of these moron devs are genuinely surprised by the volumes involved, how fucking pathetic is that. How can they never learn its unbelievable. In the past I have always thought a kind of staggered release would help but it would appear it makes no difference at all.

It is not standard for companies to claim they are going to release their game on a certain day and then utterly fail to deliver.

And it was advertised as an NA release?  Hmm... I see.

(Pretty sure you are aware of how it was listed on the official boards... right?)

Face it SignusM... if you want to have your "gloating"... you have to take your lumps too.

It failed to launch.  Deal with it.  They'll get it out eventually.  To try and spin it like they meant to have it Release at 2:00am or whenever it may actually come online for Europe  (You know... the intended launch area)... just makes you look desperate.

It's not that big of a deal they've messed up the launch.  It actually makes it worse when you try and spin it.  Just deal with the fact that they messed up.  Yeah, it's probably a bit of sour grapes for you with that "gloating" post you made... but that's the way it goes when you jump the gun a bit.

In hind-sight it might have been better to save that post for next weeks sometime.

It wasn't the best but I've been in releases where they multiple charged my card and didn't release for a week after doing so.
their account management was the worst in history.
To me is part of the 'pre-order system' no? If you are talking about changing details though it has to be up there due to the piss poor connection.
their client updater is one of the worst in history.
Seeing as how nearlly all leaks during NDA and nearlly all previews since have said even if they slated the game, the only decent thing was the client, I'm guessing your just a wee bit sloooooow.
their launch is by far the worst in history.
Has yet to be seen but they have a hell of a long way to go to even catch up with some of the bigger launches, they're not even at WoW yet.

Still the 25th here it seems.

Anyone who expected them to meet the release date was living in a dream world, anyone who still thinks they can is fucking delusional at best (FYI, you know that bit in superman where he flies around the earth backwards to reverse time? well that doesn't work).

i remember the server i picked for opening day of Daoc was down for 8 hours after it came up long enough to make a character. Uo comes to mind as well constantly crashing and time warps that went on for months after release.

There are plenty of games that have botched releases.

I just want them to hurry up so i can get in and even try it lol.

After the 3 hours it took just to preorder it sounds pretty reasonable that just trying to verify everyone that is suppose to get in does get in seems reasonable to me for the delay.

i have waited this long i can wait another day if need be.

    played M59,UO,lineage,EQ,Daoc,Entropia,SWG,Horizons,Lineage2.EQ2,Vangaurd,Irth online, DarkFall,Star Trek
and many others that did not make the cut or i just plain forgetting about.

Kinda is in my experience. They chose a fucking stupid time to release, evening? wtf is that about (more alarm bells if you ask me) but if they get the server up 5 hrs after the evening deadline, they beat AoC and many many more.

I'm not defending them, I've just been here on enough releases to be getting flash backs to almost identical threads each time an MMO launches

The part that baffles me is why they did the pre-orders so close to Release.

A good portion of these problems might have been sorted out if they had started processing pre-orders a couple weeks ago.  Once they decided to do Pre-orders (Jan. 15th announcement by Tasos... they had probably decided even before that)... they should have been able to get the pre-orders up and running by no later than the 15th of Feb.

That would have given them 10 days to get all the stuff they are dealing with right now sorted out.  They might have still had to deal with some other launch day issues and any non-pre-order players purchasing and downloading the client.

But at least those that had pre-ordered would have been done, and wouldn't be adding to the the additional work-load.

Hopefully Aventurine is learning from this process and if they ever need to go through this procedure again they will have figured out a few things to do differently.
