Update from Brannoc the AV support rep

rmk70rmk70 Member UncommonPosts: 408

Brannoc (AV support person) in the stratics irc channel:

"<Brannoc> Things are going ot be fairly quiet for the next few hours in terms of updates, now is a good time to verify your account details in account management if you were a zero charge person. You should also verify with your credit card that the charge is authentic if you were a zero charge.

19:27] <Brannoc> Many cards (American cards in particular) will deny a Euro charge if it is the first you've ever done.

[19:28] <Brannoc> The emails sent to support are slowly being worked through and traiged as necessary, I have no new information on the current sync problems.

[19:28] <Brannoc> There won't be any new purchases available until all the current ones are working properly.

[19:28] <Brannoc> I'm afraid I can't provide an ETA for that. "

So looks like they're fixing preorders. Don't count on new orders for a long time now.

Not discounting all of the other problems with the borked account page, I know first hand that several US banks will intially decline European transactions. Obviously, Amazon is not a 'suspicious' charge.

For the sake of clarification, AV means AudioVisual, at least to me.  Brannoc is an Aventurine (Ave) employee.

Well AudioVisual is Aventurines supposed publishing partner, so it does get a bit confusing and he has a point.

1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

Well then kudos to Aventurine for notifying their players and account creators of this issue prior to signups. Oh wait...... And this means either they didn't communicate it or they didn't know....both of which are not good scenarios for the game.

That's the part you misunderstand, it's not the ability of the vendor (Aventurine, in this case) to know if a card is being declined for these reasons. The trouble lies in the authorizing bank.

Again, this doesn't correct their problems of not having the right back-end scripts to properly address declined transactions, but they surely have no real reason of 'warning you' that your foreign bank is going to flag a transaction.

But they also should not blame the customer for being incompetent when it comes to entering their own data. A simple "What we would ask you to do at this time is contact your card company and see if the issue was due to this reason" not say "The customers gave incomplete/inaccurate info in the account page"

Is my pre-order still a pre-order post-release if I still haven't successfully been charged even though I ordered correctly?

Also, how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Sig so that badges don't eat my posts.

So looks like they're fixing preorders. Don't count on new orders for a long time now.

No new update was posted on the Official Darkfall forums, so as it stands, the policy is still that once the pre-orders are processed (they said this would be the 'last time' they would do this procedure) new sales will be up.

If I were any of you, I would not be thinking that this IRC response means "no new sales for a few days." You may end up missing out on a chance to buy again. The reason why you are not able to buy a key right now is not because they don't have any to sell - it's because they don't want to piss off people who pre-ordered and are technically 'in line' before everyone else.

The best proof is that they delete any thread asking about it... both here and at the official forums.

I'd tell you to ask ont he official forums, but they've decided that the official Forums should be turned off in this particular stage of...

...what do we call this?  Development?  Release?

In any case, they don't want you asking.  Questions that need answers are bad!

There is no AudioVisual involved in Darkfall... they pulled out as a publisher after they play-tested the game, that is why Aventurien has to delay the game the last time, because now they, themselves had to figure out how to bill people and set up an account management software, etc...

So as another had already said STFU, because who else would we be talking about when we say AV ??

We don't know that..?  Do you see AudioVisual collecting your money?  Do you see AudioVisual when you are downloading the game..?

C'mon, even ignorant people know that Aventurine got droppd by their publisher, because you wouldn't be havng all these credit card issues if they hadn't...!

I think that was due to forum violations, such as flaming, trolling or attacks.  There have been several threads mentioning AudioVisual that are still around. Here's a great thread with links.

Regardless, I think both current and prospective customers have a right to know what the current status of Aventurine's relationships with AudioVisual, GNI and GlobalCollec are.  Each of these companies have expertise in their respective fields and that expertise lends an air of professionalism, stability and legitimacy to Aventurine and Darkfall.  If those relationships are no longer valid, but Aventurine sells or attempts to sell it's product (Darkfall) and services (subscriptions) under the pretenses that those relationships are still valid (either explicitly or implicitly, via omission) then that may constitute consumer fraud.  There's also the issue of investor fraud.
