Ive been thinking and im wondering if all these people saying "they got a city on first day, they exploited" are people that weren't in beta and don't understand the game mechanics behind claiming a clanstone.

If i recall in beta, it was pretty easy to take over a bare city clanstone.

(I put the poll up because I was in beta but I didn't get a pre-order so I don't know whats going on ingame)

Clan shards are 10k now. Some people were exploiting but it was not widespread and it will have no lasting effects on the server. They were killing desynced mobs that just stood still. Not like people were activly looking for exploits, more the servers fault.

some clans were actually exploiting, one clan got a city after just ~1 hour

I'll just love the clans that got their city and kept going. Yes the city can be taken but who's to say they don't have enough to be able to start 5 more cities?

I don't doubt that some mobs weren't working as intended and easily exploited because the ones I was farming weren't working as intended and tremendously more difficult.   It they were bugged out and lot harder in some instances its easy to imagine the opposite occuring as well.

I didn't see one case of easier to farm mobs though but I was only in a small fraction of the overall map.

I also have to think that alot of bellyaching is being done by those who fell short of their goals as well as those who had nothing to do with the game but troll forums looking for anything they can latch onto to blast at the game.

If you were in beta you probably remember all the crybabys accusing others of hacks when they lost out to them.   I was witness to several events where people just made the stuff up because they couldn't bear losing.   It happens in every game online and in real life.

I would'v responded wtih "Holy Fck" if i saw that after just 1 hour.  With everyone crowding goblin spawns at the beginning where people should'v been, I don't think there would'v been enough gold for these guys to get that city without going out and finding those mobs just standing around.

I actually saw 3 of these npcs in beta. Got some nerve to attack them but they didnt move or react at all.

    A paradise for exploiters ?

That's why we have such defense from some fanboys. They can't do the same thing in other mmorpgs.

You can't blame people these days when it's the parents that had to teach them it.

This is a sad day where at launch the entire integrity and the balance of power is completely tainted by the sync issues.

What makes it worst is that the legitimate players are double whacked by not being able to hit mobs(1), also with guilds that are exploiting high level mobs where they are claiming the prime city plots(2).

It's like hitting the honest players and guilds while they are down on the ground...

DFO should consider a server wipe or they will have one of the worst game launches in history in their hands if they dont roll back the servers to its original balance state where everyone is on the same level field...

I'd have to agree with strongaxe on this one.. it was a few peeps/guilds that were taking "advantage" of things such as static mobs like Minotaurs that had some nice armour and gold on em (from what I've heard).  I can guarantee nearly anyone that came across this would've taken advantage and kill it, repeatedly if possible, it's not like you're going to think "hmm that Minotaur's broken maybe I should come back later when he's working so I can let him tear my arms off".

Again it was taking advantage of the server state and not really a full on exploit in its true meaning which is when someone goes out of their way to get around a working game mechanic in order to break it and gain from it.

Of course the fact that half the peeps who pre-ordered didn't even get in (myself included) just added to the fire and made a lot of them blow situation out of proportion as obviously a bit of jealousy will always creep in.

They were lucky .. we weren't so lucky. At least you'll have some cities to raid once you get in

Goblins are for newbies who don't know how to play. My clan just know location with mobs a little harder than goblins and quest that gives 200 gold if manage to kill 10 of those mobs in 1h (bonus gold if more). With 6 ppl they managed to get 8k gold in couple h.  Rest of clan was not so effictive and in other places. Still it's so damn easy to get gold for town.

Confirmed.  They are 10K and it still costs 2000 to form your guild.

I can also confim that the bugged Mobs were harvested for many hours by multiple guilds.   Either you fought active MOBs and dealt with the nasty sync probelms or you were lucky to find the Inactive MOBs and bashed them down like Pinatas and made HUGE amounts of gold and got tons of great gear too.

The percentage of valuable beta testers, compared to freeloaders and exploiters, is probably very small.  In my opinion, most players use beta as a way to play the cool new game for free.  Others use beta as a way to find exploits and bugs, not to report them and make the game better, but to identify which ones can be used to give them an advantage, especially when the game goes live.

As far as understanding "game mechanics", it should be obvious that some of these clans knew exactly where to go and what to do in order to earn maximum rewards for minimum risk, due to exploiting game mechanics. At minimum, if everything they accomplished was intentionally allowed "by design", then that design is flawed, because nobody should be able gather that much gold and establish strangleholds on strategic locations within hours of launch. Furthermore, that undermines Tasos' statement "We considered offering early access to the pre-orders, but decided against this due to the competitive nature of the game". * I have a hard time believing that allowing that much advantage so quickly is intentional design.

    ~Ripper

    * Although Tasos stated that they decided against allowing pre-orders early access to the game, that's effectively what has happened.  Nobody else is able to purchase the game, therefore, pre-order players will have advantages.  Regardless, the whole staged launch contradicted that statement.  After all, if you don't want to let players in early, becuase it will give them an unfair advantage, then how do you justify a staged release?  When the server has been satisfactorily stabilized and account managerment is under control, Aventurine should do a server wipe, IMO.

Even with the sync issues, I made over 300 gold on start quests and killing newbie mobs right outside the city in under 2 hours.  That means if you were fighting the mobs that drop 20-50g a kill with 10 people, you could have this cash in 1 day without breaking a sweat.

Yeah if they are 10k then the servers need to be wiped....

That's puts everyone who could not find these static spawning/statue mobs that dropped 50-100 gold days behind.....

Much less all the good city spots claimed from the exploit....

Damn I need to update my sig and chit. Been a long time since I posted over here....lol

    It truly is.

And I hate to harp on this, because I've said it many times before, but no one obviously cares.

This type of behavior stems from all the children we have playing these days. The majority of these idiots posting here are no more than 9 - 15 years old. They have NO honor or integrity, and don't even fully comprehend what those words mean. This is the said state of MMO gaming these days, and it's unfortunately not going to get better anytime soon.

    Thank you for being honest.

    My question is this though.

What's the point in it being soooooooooo easy to put up a clan city. In the end, if it's this easy to do, cities will have absolutely NO meaning at all. Thus, losing a city won't really matter that much.

So in the end, the cities will be as meaningfull as taking keeps in WAR. It will mean nothing.

You see my point. This game mechanic, whether exploited or not, needs to be revised ASAP.

This is not true.  The guilds in question knew in advance which high level mobs would bug out because of terrain issues.  The entire guild is there killing mobs that don't respond which they KNEW in beta wouldn't respond.

Casually coming across a bugged mob is one thing, but having your entire guild kill a high level mob that you purposefully 'bug' is another thing.  And then having the same mob respawn in 8 seconds at the exact same place.

Yes, there are players that randomly find bugged mobs.  But the guilds that are building endgame cities right now aren't just 'randomly' finding bugged mobs.

I have to completely disagree with you man. Exploiting small to medium mobs getting them to "stick" with no sync issues is one thing, exploiting epic mobs who do not move/attack AND spawn in the exact same place with massive sync issues is a totally totally totally unfair advantage....

Oh well. W/out a wipe, the EURO server is officially hosed....lol

Better reason not to take all this that serious until a US server is launched. Euro's got fuct though by this....big time....

    see you fail!

you dont claim a city for 10 k

you claim a city stone where you can BUILD your city. when you claim the terrotory you dont have anything more then a bindstone and a bank. from there you need to Build yout city up.

its easy to claim a terretory but its hard to build up your city and KEEP your terretory/city

There are more things to exploit than just stuck mobs.  I can pretty much assure you that the bigger clans found exploits and didn't report them during beta so they could use them to their advantage.

There was very nearly a dupe bug that made it to release, too.  Someone reported it days before the release date.
