Personally I think the worst launch was EverQuest. Launch day had bad billing issues, and was fixed a week later. Major lag issues the first 2weeks to a month after launch. They only had one T3 line going through one major router which bogged the game. People would die, lose exp and levels. It was very rocky the first month, but they did extremely well.
EQ May have been like that only got there after 1 year, but to them you must give they where one of the first of the kind and it was new, not the same with AV.. thoguh i might agree with you Tasos thought they could do no wrong and didn't bother to look up past mistakes
I agree they could have handled things better, but assuming the whole lifespan of the game will be represented by the launch is just stupid.
Seems like you were really butthurt about the game not having prancing unicorns that you can have virtually sex with or some other highly unrealistic idea. Then proceeds to want the world to come to an end.

Face it all games have problems when starting up. I would think many of the long time mmorpg players would realise this by now. I agree they shouldn't but they do.

If you read the earlier interviews with the actual devs like Claus, you can see a totally different tone and approach to the game. Those dev interviews show a couple of guys who were trying their hardest to make a game on a very tight budget. And they were excited about it. They loved talking about what they want to do and how they would try to accomplish it.
Then Tasos started talking.
People rarely saw anything from the others and only got to see what Tasos had to say. Unfortunatly he was more interested in hyping up the players with grand statements and vague talking points (which I assume his posts were aimed more toward the investor than the fan).
Hopefully the game will be a great game as soon as the kinks are worked out, but I think most people are to hung up on what Tasos said/did over the years to give the game itself a fair chance.

Many many many many of the trolls that post saying the game is a complete scam and a lie and is missing X feature, always list a feature that was never supposed to be in the game, or was cut 3 years ago, just to get their "point" across.
There are a few missing features that I am very sad about not seeing, like the roaming mob AI, but every single core feature is in the game.

If you read the earlier interviews with the actual devs like Claus, you can see a totally different tone and approach to the game. Those dev interviews show a couple of guys who were trying their hardest to make a game on a very tight budget. And they were excited about it. They loved talking about what they want to do and how they would try to accomplish it.
Then Tasos started talking.
People rarely saw anything from the others and only got to see what Tasos had to say. Unfortunatly he was more interested in hyping up the players with grand statements and vague talking points (which I assume his posts were aimed more toward the investor than the fan).
Hopefully the game will be a great game as soon as the kinks are worked out, but I think most people are to hung up on what Tasos said/did over the years to give the game itself a fair chance.
There are 3 types of people in the world.

2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
1. First of all, you fail because trolling is not OK. Well informed criticism is fine, but there has been none of that around here in a long time.
2. You deserve to gloat? Why? It's only a matter of time before the server is fixed and more servers brought up... How can you possibly think the server going down on launch day means failure? You must be new to MMOs. And what is there to gloat about? The game is real, it's not a scam, it has the main features that make it what it is....so maybe you are just dumb, no?
3. How is this game "bad"? Server problems have nothing to do with the game itself. If you had a brain, you'd realize pretty much everyone who actually has played the game has liked it.
4. How can you go around telling people to stop preaching? You and the other million trolls are trying as hard as you can to make sure people don't like this game. Whether or not it is the best game ever is not in question, but it is certainly a game with most of the promised features implemented. Seriously, you trolls are grasping at anything. What will it be next? Darkfall = fail because "Aventurine" doesn't have a "D" in it!!!!111!1one
I find it funny how much stupidity is around here. In a week or two, when the launch issues are long forgotten, what will you say then? People will be in game enjoying it, and as more servers are opened, more and more will play it. I'm willing to bet that most of you butthurt trolls will play it, get ganked, cry, and go play WoW.

paid-to-play beta would kinda mean the timer is still rolling and adding to the definitions of 'vaporware' which apply to darkfall...
but hey, enjoy the invisible mobs, the not being able to see if your buddy is moving or not, cuz you're out of sync with him AND the mobs... maybe take advantage of the mob exploits (do they really run around in acid and get stuck in place when they hit water?)...
me, i like playing games that are ready for retail. i guess those advanced AIs and paid beta testers did a bang up job on stress testing and finding all those exploits... a year+ ago.

Many many many many of the trolls that post saying the game is a complete scam and a lie and is missing X feature, always list a feature that was never supposed to be in the game, or was cut 3 years ago, just to get their "point" across.
There are a few missing features that I am very sad about not seeing, like the roaming mob AI, but every single core feature is in the game.
