Servers came back up, assuming to test everything, and the sync issues are compeltely gone and its back to how it was in beta....silky silky smooth.
They brought the servers down to address account issues, annoying as hell but if its what they need to do, especially to help get more people in game, then so be it.
These guys have been working around the clock to fix their mistakes...good dev team that just got a little over their head.
Little hiccup with launch, but proof that they can solve their problems. No mmo is perfect at the start...what matters is if they can fix it.
The sync was a gamebreaking issues that they tackled....cant wait to get back in full time!

While it does all crack me up, i mean they did un-update the webpage which cracked me up, I will give these guys credit for working around the clock. There can't be many of them at all and I wouldent be suprised if they were sleeping in shifts in the office, so Yah, they are putting there heart into things and i give them credit there but man....unupdating the webpage lol...

Since I guessed when they would come back up correctly, I'll speculate and say 45mins to an hour.

They AREN'T a big company. In fact, they're a small Indie company located in Greece. I wouldn't expect more than 35 people including forum admins working on it right now. I wouldn't doubt that they could very well be working around the clock. While the game is imperfect (No game at release is, and it will never be that way), at least they show a fierce dedication to the game that isn't so evident in a highly populated MMO such as WoW. They admit their fuck-ups, and immediately attempt to fix them and apologize, and I highly respect that with the devs.

Bye bye sleep!
they fixed synch bug?
thats awesome. maybe later today they will properly launch the game.
My blog:
Yup, knew they could do it as beat was fine and it isnt an issue of more players in game....and they got it done in a decent time frame considering they also were dealing with billing and the issue was rather large.
Doesnt excuse them being unprepared, but they are making up for it with free gameplay...and you cant argue with that.

Stands to reason this is like any other business. Opening is money day, fall on your ass and the legacy will haunt you.
heh i'm kinda glad i didn't get a pre order now. I'll play but this is kinda entertaining.
so "no game ever has a great release day" and the ignorance of definition of the word "vaporware" are two crazy inaccurate statements that keep floating around on this forum.
why? i don't know.
sorry, yes, some mmos actually have great beta testing sessions and have great launches. i know it sounds crazy; but, it's true.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
I can't think of one, could you name one?
Sorry if your mmo sucks.
Not sure how inferred that..but..my current MMO doesn't suck or I wouldn't play it (LOTRO).
I want to see a good MMO sandbox, so I am certainly not hoping DF to fail, quite the opposite.
However, it is clear from your avatar, and signature you are not an unbiased observer..a superfan as it were. Fine, that's cool.
But don't post a Washington-style spin on the facts and expect to be taken at your word.
You're spinning the facts to your very slanted view, that's all.
I can't think of one, could you name one?
Lotro was pretty good if i remember correctly...but the statement is accurate especially since damian is misquoting to an extent.
The point is how fast they recover, and aventurine seems to be doing a good job. While others like vanguard never got it together...and AoC...well...was AoC.
WoW had similar issues and got their act together fast, and the fact that the core gameplay was good carried it.
Darkfall will be the same just on a smaller scale due to the niche market it targets.

Not really...but thanks for the bump!
edit: after reading my OP again, there is nothing being spun there...there is just a lack of haterade in there.
what "Facts" are you refering to?
They are working hard...uh true they are hardly sleeping.
Sync was the issue that needed to be fixed before anything else...and it got fixed....uh true, not much spin there as its just true.
Fun as hell? well subjective, but plenty of people besides me seem to think so...so......
They brought the server down intentiionally....true
And they did it to fix accoutn issues....true

Didn't try LoTRO at launch, thanks for the info. Looking back my post may be misconstrued. That really was a question of curiousity not argumentation.
I don't know what people are talking about me and my wife where there at AoC ,war and even cox launchs and i don't ever remember the servers being down for 2 days and fourms too. few kicks and maybe a hour but nothing bad..
Now take those games' budgets divide it by a very, very large number. You now have AV's budget. Seriously, cut them a little slack, they've been on the clock a lot lately trying with very little manpower/resources.
ya but this game has a small crew wroking on it so give them a break i mean come on ya 10 mil in 8 years but how many games have five times more money and 100 times more people working on it.. i just hope this game is fun i don't care about bugs hell i played SwG when it started and that was a beta game for the 1st year.
I can't think of one, could you name one?
LOTRO - flawless as can be.
WAR - yes, I know that they had some problems with the EU version but the EU version is ran by a different company. US lauch was flawless. I was there.
WoW - while some servers had problems, most of them were just fine. With the exception of the "loot lag" which was a minor inconvenience compared to DF launch. I was there too.
CoH - I was there starting with the head start, also flawless launch.
AoC had a decent launch also as far as server stability goes, however the other problems with the client overshadowed the server stability.
You know why these games had relatively smooth launches? They all had stress tests.
There are others but I can't recall them. Fact of the matter is that there are a lot of MMOs that are released relatively stable and ready to go. People just remember the really horrible launches like AO, Vanguard and AoC and associate them with the whole genre.
Edit: I do remember one niche game which had a horrible launch - they released an unfinished and unstable client because they ran out of money - it was some game about a colony on another planet, can't remember the name now. Guess where that game is now? It doesn't exist anymore, eventhough it had a cult following and most of the fans bought the client knowing that it was unfinished.
Just food for thought.
That is a good point about the determination of the devs for this game. Even if they have some problems communicating, Ive seen some very promising signs for the future of this game. The dev team is not afraid to man up to mistakes, listen, and work hard on fixing issues.
Right now those issues are just with running the game so its easy to not give them as much credit. But think about when this dedication transfers to more complex gameplay issues where instead of it being fixing servers its balanceing skills or combat. In an instance where the answer is not so black and white but isntead is trying to further the enjoyment of the game its comforting to know these devs would be behind it.
Other, bigname companies (which i dont even have to name) have tend to use smoke and mirrior tatics to get around gameplay issues, sidestepping them instead of solving the problem. Which results in a game thats just had its gameplay patched up (pun intended) but realy its just broken fixes over broken issues and never solves anything.
Im optomistic... and apparently also bored
Yup AoC launch will go down in history as the best launch ever....
....
....................
Launches can be bad in different ways, DF is obviously having a bad launch, but to say they fail because of it is ridiculous as they are hardly the first to do it. What matters is how fast and efficiently they rebound.

Then stop all the crap talk about other all other mmo had bad launches , is not true, but av is small and should be given slack .. fine.. o wait why they charge the same price as all the others and people have pre paid.. but you are right that people that bought should have known this was going to happen from a new< use that lightly> and first time dev team..

That's actually a very good point. They are a small company and don't have a huge budget, however, they do charge as much as a AAA title and as such should be held to the same standards. In my opinion anyway.
It's like this, if KIA starts to charge the same amount for their cars as BMW, I would hold them to the same standard. Aventurine charges the same as the big boys, they should be treated like the big boys.

excellent point. Big or small company is no excuse for fucking up a game at launch. I wont cut any company any slack unless they have had a long history of performing, making good games, meeting deadlines without a glitch...a company that does that and then makes a mistake; sure I'll cut them some slack.
There are some very small game developers out there that make some good games on a small budget, it seems AV doesn't fall into this category. I'm sure one day in a few months this game will be finished and it might be good then, I wonder how it will compete with Mortal Online when it launches. AV could have their work cut out for thim if that game pulls off the impossible and releases a quality MMO
