if this is the case there are no "credible" developers anymore.

Based on what I've seen of late (not Darkfall, though), I think I could live with that.

After any game has a rocky release, people like to run with the "well, WoW had a horrible release" which makes me wonder if any of these people actually played at the release.. WoW's problem was over-loaded servers for the first month.. BUT after the first week (the servers were UP more then down) they opened new servers.. If you moved from one of the "release" servers to one of the new servers, you did not experience the lag, and server crashes that plagued the release servers.  Also, Blizzard never shut down their support/ forums, and there was even a support number to call for billing issues.  Not to mention, compensated gametime was given to the players..  The servers were not down for days/weeks, sure, the lag was pretty bad at times, but there were servers that didn't suffer nearly as much as others.  There were even servers with barely any queue time..

Despite getting off to a shaky start, the servers are running pretty well now and I've been thoroughly enjoying my time ingame. Clans are grabbing up cities, the arms race for supremacy is underway... yup this is a sandbox world.

If people don't find Darkfall polished or fluffed up enough, then maybe they should go play another full loot, seamless world, sandbox MMO. Oh wait, that game doesn't exist? Maybe that's why DF doesn't need to advertise ;)

The game is great, any true PvPer will see that.

Myself I'm desperate to at least try it and having been left out in the whole preorder fiasco as I couldn't get onto the site even though I had already downloaded the client and created an account.
Right now it seems unlikely that thousands of people who have followed this game through years of development will ever get to play it as it will be killed before they can even open up sales again.
What a shame, seemed to have so much potential.
Not giving an ETA on new sales just confirms that they are months away from that. They have some money from the willing beta testers that they hope can keep them afloat for another few months before the geniune release but I doubt it wil be enough. Unfortunately for aventurine now they have declated this a release they can't hold back any reviews or label them as beta... it's released product now and it's going to be absolutely slated for it.

Nosense, the first two days was exactly what everyone expected, a mess.

Its over now, and they game runs exellent.

Oh please dark dont even start. NOBODY expected to see what happened the 1st 2 days and a half (remember its later over there)

Even from you we heard the phrase " the game is ready for launch " yada yada. We got it from Tasos himself that they game was more than ready, it was in better conditions than other mmos.

Now imagine all that stuff being thrown in our faces. Fans saying how this game was going to have the most flawless launch in mmo history and so on.

This is a Pime example why fanboys are better off just Keeping tight lips on exaggerations and lies. Yes its ok to defend the game you like because its features appeal you. But thats what you defend, the sole reason why the you like the game because of x and y feature. No one cannot deny that

But the darn moment you come babbling how this game will be the best game of them all, How other games suck compared to it. how this game  will launch flawlessly and how perfect it is when you can play it. Your doping more damage than good.

    learn from him seriously.

NO one expected a messed up launch save the haters.

You will notice i play middle ground here, I do have my interests in the game but i do hate when from both sides they spread crap like the op does and lies that you do.

Get it right and instead of spewing 1liners  defend your favorite pastime correctly. And btw where the heck did you go, someone who been spamming these froums all these days, bad start and you go into hiding just to come back now to do the same.

I got a friend who has a girlfriend who has a dog who's previous owner has a teenage daughter with a boyfriend who has a father who works at Wallmart where he talked to a customer who has a wife that told him that she knows a old girlfriend from school who dated a girl once who is now married to a guy who works at Microsoft and on that department works a guy who plays games and chats regularly to other players and one of those players told him he knew a nice girl which was engaged to a boy who's former girlfriend once saw Bill Gates talking to a guy so she asked that guy what they were talking about and he said that that girlfriend of your friend was talking crap and she should shut her mouth.

gameinformer has the most acuerate review team imo they also spend the longest to review things (it took like 3 months for Warhammer) the only thing they do i dont like is give WoW like 9.5/10 or a 9.75/10 every time.

they gave AoC around a 7

    Warhammer 8

    mines of moria 8.5

    and Wotlk 9.5

if i dont get it by the time they review it (if they review it) i will listen to them only

OMG,  Please GOD  NO !!!  Umm wait a minute who...  PC Zone,   phew  I though it was a magazine people actually read.

An honest review of the game isn't going to do much for the fate of DarkFall.   The game has had a horrible launch and was wracked with bugs, but it is a game design to serve the PvP niche that has been ignored by most MMOs for the last 8 years.   Even with the bugs and extreme downtime it is a great game, the only game available where PvP matters and where PvP hurts and there are thousands of gamers htting F5 every few minutes for the last week just waiting to pay money to play.

The only folks that will be driven away by a review are the WoW kids that got confused and thought that DarkFall was another McDonald's themepark MMO, and honestly it is probably for the best because I don't think they could handle getting stabbed in the back and looted while trying to complete the first " Kill 4 Goblins quest".

    No...sorry...it...didn't...

WoW had 80 servers online at launch and only 20 of them were down 50% of the time for about a week. And they had MILLIONS playing.

Aventurine server can't even handle a measly 10k people.

This game is done for because it has no content to offer beyond a bad combat system and some crappy crafting system... people will be bored REAL fast.

not sure if that true or not ,but I do know my server was down constantly (Doomhammer). it was down constantly for the whole fist month ,maybe some of you remember getting a free month because of this. (everyone that was there at launch should remember this.)

moving on,..wow is old and people are looking for something new and interesting. AV and DF are generating so much hate especially by all you wow people take a chill, wow was fun but for many it just isnt worth it to play anymore.

So...you think some magazine is going to hurt Aventurine's reputation moreso than the company has already done to itself? That's impossible, and I highly doubt that some article will really detract anyone from playing. The people who want to play will play, regardless. This has never been a mass-market game, and it won't ever be. The people in the niche-genre of FFA ass whooping will play, because thats what the game has. I repeat: as long as I can freely kill whoever I please in a skill based MMO world, I will be playing Darkfall. That's it. That's the draw.

Another thing I don't get is why a bunch of people are openely hating the game, but still wanting to play? I seriously think half the people who bash it are STILL going to buy and play. It may not be the greatest thing ever, but take a look at what Darkfall is doing. It's bringing back the FFA/skill based sub-genre. There is already a DF clone coming out called Mortal Online. Heck, Mortal will probably stomp the living crap out of Darkfall, but THATS THE POINT. Darkfall is the first step into the new wave, IMO. And I'm happy.

  • rageagainstrageagainst Member Posts: 618

yup, the mmo review system is serverly flawed, they review on an mmorpg's weakest time and don't give an mmo, a game that evolves, a second chance. Look at Vangaurd, great game currently, but NO ONE PLAYS, partly because it sucked at launch and got horrible reviews.

The same will happen to Darkfall, us in beta BEGGED them to delay because the game was ALMOST done but releasing in the current state would be the biggest mistake they would ever do. But they released, and they deserve nothing less than bankruptcy.

this, fundamentals of the game are flawed. With just a little tweaking they could be great, but atm, the game sucks. Melee is less deep than GW melee, seroiusly, its just "CS knife fighting online". The crafting system is deep but its atleast 10x the grind it is in WoW.

Yea, right, expecting to play the game we paid for 5 mins is just rediclous! Outrageous! I have no problem with bugs, I have no problem with server fixes, I do have a problem with taking my money and giving 0 support whatsoever.

Didn't you get three days added to your playtime? I understand how players would be frustrated at not getting to play when they have been told to, especially when they have waited for years and on top of that given Adventurine cash, but to a veteran mmo player, this shit is to be expected.

Yet players act like Adventurine killed their family dog.

If they don't get their shit together after a while though, I can understand how people would get really frustrated.

wtf are you talking about, how does 3 days added to playtime help me when I cant get into the game?

You know, there is a big difference between a "Game Review" and a "launch Review" and any respected magazine will repsect that difference or they'll lose credibility. So if the game is indeed good  they can fuck up another few days and still get a good review. Beside the accounts that arent fixed yet, all of which now seem to be done piece by piece if I scrape every piece of information together, they are not fucking up anymore right now.

And yes for those unlucky ones that sucsk bad. Just like it sucks for the unlucky ones who haven't bought it yet, like myself. But  if you cant look beyond such delays when reading a review you wont get far in the game either, I think.

    It's finished, just accept it.

I've just been talking it over with a couple of guild buddys and told them not to bother coming across so were all going to stick with runescape for the next 6 months until Star trek online comes out.
