Hackers are getting banned

dark-merlindark-merlin Member Posts: 314

We have been receiving reports on the main Fora' that GMs are taking care of business and at least 3-4 people have already been banned.

Now most companies would post this on the main Newspage and state they will keep the game clean, give out the names of banned players etc.

AV does not even show us the various patches in which they actualy introduce new content (like coordinates on map for party) that were not ingame and just show up the next day

My point is: Stfu about it already with the hacks and aimbots and other "OMFG SKY IS FALLING" theories....AV is doing what they said they would and they are not kidding around, cheating is NOT TOLERATED

    What a douche...

You fail to see the sarcasm in the OP's post.

There isn't scarcasm. Every post I've seen by the OP is in defense of DFO. Now, its not problem solved, but what it does show is that they are actively fighting the hackers if it is true which is a damn good start considering they don't know how many people will actually buy the game and stay with it longer than a month.

You can say....whatever the hell you want.  What does Vanguard have to do with DF banning people hacking?  Just curious.

Why on earth YOU would be receiving reports is beyond me, but ok.

But.. You are just kidding yourself. ALL pvp games have cheaters and hacks. ALL OF THEM! The ones that cheat are the ones that come on these forums and talk about how HARDCORE they are. Then, they call everyone else carebears. That's why pvp games in general, don't work.

But... If you think the cheating will stop, you're fooling yourself. It will get much, much worse. During the very first day, you had several guilds admit on this very forum how they got guild cities already, GUILD CITIES were gotten in the very first hour of the game. Now, that wasn't a hack, but they exploited the heck out the rules in the very first hour!

These are the kinds of low-life people you get in a FFA/PVP game, and that's why it will get worse.

Don't blame me, I didn't invent it. But, in every pvp game I ever played, there were tons of cheaters. It goes with the territory, and if you make it EASY to manipulate the code, you're really asking for it.

After VG was bought by SOE they had the security to give a shit. The last 10 years of the DF devs lives were put into this game and the next 10 are probably banking on its sucess. They wont let it go down that easily.

I was in the game, there were no guild cities bought the first hour of gameplay.   I think you are reading too much BS on forums like this one.    We got our guild city in one day and the mobs we fought were broken but much harder as they were invisible.

Alot of people whining about the first couple days in game really have no clue.    There were some guilds that found and farmed mobs that were stuck in place.   I didn't see any of these mobs myself but if I did, you damn sure bet I would have killed them too.    Any of you MMO players who sit here and try to say that you would just leave a stuck mob be, I would have to call a liar.

There's a big difference between finding and killing a mob that is stuck in place and hacking the game client.

Some of you really need to get off your high horse and look at yourself in the mirror and quit exaggerating all this made up BS you are reading on the forums.

This is good news - a step in the right direction at least.

Ignore the trolls.  They are just desperate for attention, but sadly have nothing interesting to say.

Some people actually believe that a game company is going to 'ban' a player who is willingly paying to use their product?

Riiiiiiiiight.  Recurring revenue is the holy grail of any technical service industry, and companies aren't going to say 'please stop paying us' because little Johnny is using AutoIt or his G15.

And yeah, I know, Aventurine is made up of gamers, and they only care about making the game they want to play and profit doesn't matter to them, riiiiiiiiiight.

    Lol.

Despite your sarcasm and disbelief, its actually quite rational for them to ban hackers.

If they don't, hacks will kill the game.

Banning the cheaters is their only chance to survive.

I don't see why that is so hard to believe/understand..

You were doing o.k. up until that part.

You do realize this is not the official forums (anymore)... right?

Given the history of DarkFall with mmorpg.com do you think that statement will make it better?

This forum is for all opinions of DarkFall.  Good, bad, fanboy, troll, and anything in-between.

As far as other MMO's posting that kind of stuff on the main News page AND give out the names of the banned players... please.    Show just one example of a mainstream MMO doing that.  It's comments like that, that make it really tough to give credibility to the other stuff you type.

Happens all the time in MMO's, Blizzard are quite good at banning ppl so is Square Enix, yet ppl still flock to their games because they understand that the developers will get rid of the minority that continue to break the rules that have been laid down to ensure everyone has an enjoyable gaming experience.

    Ha!

Also: for one thing there is no link to an offical announcement, just a nebulous "4-5" people... and there is no way to know if these were actually hackers, or just botters...

As said before, macros/bots are MUCH easier to catch, and will be the vast bulk of any bans, if any are actually given... and of course this could be a PR stunt either way, but that would mean AV has a clue what "P" and "R" stand for when next to each other.

What kind of annoucement are you looking for?  They already stated they would be banned.

The speedhacker I fought and fraps was banned.  That's a good start to me.

Proof? We are to just take their word for it?

If they are deleting reviews and legitment complaint threads on their forum ,why should we believe them? Not counting the lies and empty promises from Talos?

  • tombear81tombear81 Member Posts: 810

My god.. is this the first time AV have ever thought about BEING SEEN to do something. As opposed to changing the border on the website and spurting out some Tasos quality bullshit and doing passive agressive interviews with MMO sites ?

Hmmm... actually I think given teh offical forums are in uproar and its pretty widespread from the sound of things (well so much the fanbois are back in defense mode)... were going to to have to wait and see for how long term an affect this has. 4 or 5 a day ? Well given no one can get in the game and there is maximum 5000 people playing.. suppose its a start. Cookie for AV !

    Sneak Preview :

Next week AV starting giving false positives for hacking... just like there billing system

are GMs paid employees? or, are they volunteers who play with their normal characters on the same server (which if they're volunteers would have to be the case with a single server).

if they're volunteers... that is the most idiotic thing to do... it was horrible when UO did it with people from OTHER servers than what they would GM on... and then the corruption was still horrible.

it's hard for paid employees to not be corrupt dipwads (eve anyone?), much less volunteers.

volunteer GM staff is a game breaker for anyone of intelligence in a clan that has rivals (perish the thought in a pvp game).

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

It might be a matter of degree, sort of like comparing burglary with murder, but both are still criminal acts and wrong.

I recall one time when I was playing VG, I realized that by running reptitively over one spot I could level my stealth skill (or something).  After I got it up to a 100, I reported myself, and told them where I had started.  They fixed the bug, and my stealth skill was reset to the level I told them.

Yah, I'm a paladin in real life.

But I'm glad to see Aventurine taking action against cheating, because nothing will damage this game more than a reputation that nothing will be done.

And heck, as hard as it is to buy DF subs right now, a ban really hurts.

And the reason for this post is?

for starters every game will have people banned for cheating and for using a hack or 3rd party program that is against the tos.

However only the stupid people get caught. The good hacker/ cheaters dont let people know what they are doing. A good speed hack user will not use it in a fight. they will use it to travel quickly to places ect.

You make it sound like the company did somthing no other company has done before. Please name me a game where hacks were allowed n tolerated. Of course people will be banned when caught thats a no brainer.

In the same way they no doubt wanted to ensure a smooth launch, and sell as many copies on launch day as possible - in order to protect their long term investment.

That didn't happen.  No matter their desires, they haven't exactly proven to be the most competent or capable company.  Given the client-side nature of the game, it might be a lot harder to accomplish than they have the ability to do.
