Yes, actually we got attacked by a clan that had a few people hacking.
Reported them to the GMs (which by the way took less then 20 seconds to respond), supplied fraps proof, and BAM, haven't seen them in game since.

EVE started out with around the same capital as an indy company, and they're able to effectively deal with hacking. There's no reason why DF shouldn't be able to do the same. Client side or not, which I'm sure EVE is quite a bit client side reliant as well.

Sure you can find hacks for other games, but larger game companies have the resourses and talent to keep it under control. That's not even the big issue when it comes to Darkfall. Darkfall will suffer more from this because this is a FFA PvP game. If people start using things that give them an unfair advantage over other people, then eventually eveyone will be using them just to keep up. A speed hack in a PvE game doesn't have the same impact as it does in a PvP game.
I don't want to see Darkfall fail. I'm glad to see indie companies jumping into the MMO market, given the domiance of WoW it's great to see people trying to break the mold. At the same time you have to be able to step back and be honest with yourself when you see something that could do great harm to the game.

Hacking, and cheating in general, is probably one of the most disturbing things about the game right now.

The majority of the players I have met understand that its not perfect and that it needs work. Most of them know of hacks, but that also it is being blown out of porportion.

Denial is bliss untill it slaps you personally in the face. Wait until your first encounter with a speedhacker.
Then wipe out your entire guild party of 8 people in a matter of two or three mins. You can't hit them because they move so fast they are generally always bouncing in and out among people. Try and run away and two mins later there right behind you killing you by yourself.
So just digg you a little hole and stick your head in it and say theres no speed hacks. Its not there and just maybe..
Fraps it and/or gm_help it and get the dudes account banned in about 10 minutes. He got to loot your corpse. You got to loot his wallet of 50 USD.
Of course... you don't actually get that money... but, ya know what I mean.

If the Report results in the ban of a hacker .... you get a set amount of in-game gold.

(With having the false-positive cost in place, it should limit the amount of players reporting others for hacking as a grief tactic).

I am not saying that hackers don't exist, I am sure they do as they do in all MMOs. That being said, I have been playing Darkfall since Feb 2nd minus the 1 week when it transitioned to release, and I have yet to see anyone hacking. By the amount of hack posts on the forums you would think there are people flying through the air like superman everywhere you go shooting lazers from their eyes. I think the entire thing has been over exagerated to a degree.

As for them being dishonest, that's a matter of opinion. Personally, I think they're overwhelmed, inexperienced and in over their heads. I hope they get their act together, though, because having a successful indie title would be cool, not just for them, but for the industry and players, overall.

While I hope that's the case, I think hacking is probably pretty prevalent, but kept under wraps. As an example, the most well known speedhack has a mode that lets you run at normal sprint speeds, but without losing stamina. This would be pretty hard to detect, visually. It's only when somebody cheats so egregiously (speeding massively faster than normal sprint speeds) that they're going to be reported by other players. Those instances will be far less common than the cheaters that never get caught, becuase they cheat smart.
Do the same search for "world of warcraft speed hack". Then do that same search for every mmo you've ever loved. Hacking won't be more rampant in this game than in any other mmo. Period.

I'm going to go along with this report. Seems fair and balanced, and while I'm sure there's some hacking, its probably not to the degree some folks make it out to be.

Disonesty is present in DF and Aventurine since the beginning, I dont find strange the fact that disonesty is even among players.

You stated it as a matter of fact followed up by "as someone said". At minimum, you're spreading rumors, which is just as bad as stating it as fact. Saying "as someone said" doesn't excuse it. As for them being dishonest, that's a matter of opinion. Personally, I think they're overwhelmed, inexperienced and in over their heads. I hope they get their act together, though, because having a successful indie title would be cool, not just for them, but for the industry and players, overall.

While I hope that's the case, I think hacking is probably pretty prevalent, but kept under wraps. As an example, the most well known speedhack has a mode that lets you run at normal sprint speeds, but without losing stamina. This would be pretty hard to detect, visually. It's only when somebody cheats so egregiously (speeding massively faster than normal sprint speeds) that they're going to be reported by other players. Those instances will be far less common than the cheaters that never get caught, becuase they cheat smart.

I love your labels! "Fanatic"; a "Paradise" for hackers; I never denied hacking exists in darkfall. It does exist. There are youtube videos. What I'm saying is... has ANYONE SEEN A HACKER FIRST HAND? If not, then this is probably not the problem people are blowing it up to be.
A couple of youtube videos on hacking exist for every MMO out there after all.

Is it a rumor? Is it the truth, I really dont care, as I said, I was not the one who came up with this info.
Why I dont care? Because Aventurine showed disrespect enough against players and other online game companies to show us we should not care.
The sucess of DF wont change anything, the sucess of honesty and creative indie companies maybe, the fact aventurine is a indie company doesnt allow them do do what they have been doing for years.
