Thats odd..My graphic card is a Nvidia 1GB 9800 GTX and a Athalon 64 Quad core processor, my game seems to run smooth with no problems at all. Well some game side problems I assume like Some Texture poping all over the place when an area first loads but I have a feeling everyone is getting this so its probably normal for the game.
Also ground Textures take a bit of time to load like 2-3 seconds after Im able to move everything looks good and sturdy like it should.
My computer has a great Graphics card and processor but I think it really lacks in the Ram department. With only 2 gigs of ram.
Still so far everything in the game short of DX10 is maxed and I have not experienced a single problem.
To all of you saying you have NEVER had a game that "corrupted itself" (required full scans): I NEVER had a bad stick of ram...until I got Vista. Same *good* ram, new OS, same *good* ram is now *bad* ram. The reason being that Vista addresses different parts of the ram that were never used before by the previous software. I am actually glad it did, now I have new, fully-functional ram. That being said, it's possible that a new piece of software will do things differently on your machine, and it does not necessarily mean it is an error with the software.
I'm not using Vista.
But a simple sense of deduction will tell you, that if you have some 10+ games on your system, and have had probably 100's of games on that system at one time or another, and only ONE game gets file corruption, it's probably the game.
That rule should apply whether you use Vista or not.
File corruption and patch problems in general only happens with FC products. It has never happen with other games that I have played. I do not find it hard to understand that some people actually questions the quality of FC's products, when errors appear at this time after launch.

Playing: FFXIV Future: wishing for SWG 2, World of Warcraft Classic Played: Most current and extinct MMO's - 18 Years in....
I resubscribed to this game and patched again. It took 6 hours. played for 3 hours logged off. Got up this morning, received an error, now it's patching again, only this time it's a different patch that's taking 9 hours. I'm not playing a game that's still buggy over six months after release. Maybe I'll come back in two years when they fix their patcher. My recomendation, play Warhammer or even WoW... they aren't as frustrating or horribly produced. Funcom, they make SOE look compitent.
Do a full reinstall. Uninstall, wipe the folder, and reinstall.
Nvidia also has released 2 drivers in the past week as well. Make sure they are updated, as after two crashes I know that is what it is.

Buggy? Like I've said in other posts, I've only been playing for a couple of weeks and the game is faultless so far. I haven't had any problems. The initial patching is large (yes it took me a while) but once you have to fully patched the game runs like a dream.

hmmm i would but there are a couple of issues :
- im a little too old for WoW
-my computer is a little too good for WoW
-2009 is alittle too new for WoW
-Blizzard is a little tooo greedy not to make a REAL expantion

People need to stop blaming AoC for everything.

Well, the gaming companies need to realize that the very first thing that a new player comes in contact with is the game patcher. If the game patcher is screwed up then the new player will have a bad perception of the game before they even play it. There are even some new players who will just say "Screw It" and find another game to play instead of spending all their time troubleshooting the patching system. If Funcom is having complaints regarding their patcher then they need to get that finetuned as best they can or they will lose potential players without those people even playing the game.

Maybe those people need to develop some patience. The patcher works ok for me. If it doesn't for them then it might take them a bit longer. The problem is that everyone wants everything 'now'!
Well, perhaps so. A little patience is always a benefit. However, the younger crowd has been raised on console games as well as other "Instant Gratification" situations. When they want something, they always want it that instant and they dont care to wait. What they want is to just plug something in and have it work. I dont mean to overly generalize here because I know quite a few young players are more than willing to wait patiently. But all of this doesnt really matter. Funcom wants/needs new players for AOC. New players dont want to wait for everything to run smoothly. New players dont need to play AOC as there are many other games on the market. Funcom needs the new player's money, but the new players dont need to give up their cash to play a game that doesnt seem to suit them and their instant gratification desires. Why are soo many of the recent MMOs out there starting out with HUGH amounts of pre-orders/regular orderseven before the game launches only to have all of those hundreds of thousands of players to leave the MMO after a month or so? Because the avarage player these days want a game launch which is bug-free, perfectly balanced game with a lot of content, and when they realise that these MMOs arent launched with all of this then they jump ship to try out something else.
People may disagree with how I view this topic and thats fine. It still wont change the fact that if a company wants a person's business then they will offer that person what they are looking for and not just what the company is willing to put out there and expect everyone to settle for it. The MMO indusrty has grown ALOT recently and the market is very competitive.

I've been subscribed since my pre-order. I guess I have just been amazingly lucky, I have had just about zero issues with the game.
As in, I have not had a single game crash, patcher issue, graphical error, corrupt file warning, or any other issue that stopped me from playing and fully enjoying the game.
I can definitely understand the OP's frustration with the patcher; however, I note that s/he doesn't mention a single actual bug they encountered during the three hours they played.
So my next question is; what type of connection do they have? Because even with the largest patch, on cable broadband I normally only wait eight minutes or so.
Then again, I'm not installing and updating from zero, like the poster. So perhaps the OP just needs to have patience if they are starting over from scratch on a slow connection.

Just to let you know, I did finally get the game going after someone told me I could skip the patch by filechecking. I played for about a week and a half before I left. The main reason, the game is still too BUGGY. I can't play the game at low setting and I exceed the suggested requirements. In the last two weeks I've reported four quest bugs, had only half of them resolved. I also had an issue with moving in the city and I can't see my head in the model on the inventory screen. It looks like someone chopped it off. I know alot of people are happy with it, but for me, it's still not something I want to play. Right now there aren't that many games out there that seem to run smoothly, the exception being World of Warcraft and Everquest.... don't even get me started on Warhammer.

I recommend that you get a console, something like a PS3 or Wii as you had problems with downloading the game and then a few bugs in some quests and a missing head in a non functional part of game tipped you over the edge.
If you complain about things like that, and describe them as "too BUGGY" i do really believe PC gaming is not for you, and i am not even talking about MMOs, as i doubt you will be able to get on with single player PC games as they too need patching and are released with bugs.
For a bug free experience go for a console...................
Its funny how these things work, I play Lotro and have some hitching problems, I play aoc downloads perfectly and runs perfectly on my computer at high specs-now it seems to me that aoc should not run as smoothly as Lotro but it runs much better than Lotro? About 20% of the Lotro population have problems with hitching and the other 80% think we are nuts. So I dont know weather its the game or the cpu or gpu or sondcard or defrag, etc, etc-but some people just have problems with certain games. AOC has done a great job optimizing there system and games like loltro and vanguard have not as far as i can tell. Anyone else notice these things or am i just crazy?

No, i experienced the same yesterday, I tired to get WAR to run smoothly and i could only do it by drastically comprimising my graphical quality. After that i launched AoC and it ran really smooth, even though the graphics were more detailed.
I would have expected that WAR would run better than AoC, but as you say it is down to the optimisation.
This i think is also resonsible for a smoother run at higher textures and detail settings than at lower setting, which does not sound logical.
I think that there has been so much focus for AOC on engine optimization that it actually does run better than games like WAR and LOTRO, even on high settings for many. On my M1730 XPS lap top they all run fine but on my desk top, which is actually more powerful, WAR runs the "least" well with LOTRO and AOC running fine. It all depends on your components and what you have running in the background. I did find that AOC does not like Trend Micro PC- cilling anti virus software at all.
It causing zones to take longer to load and lag. I turn it off and all is well. I recommend doing some tinkering with those types of things. You would be suprised how big an impact it can have. AND for those running vista, you should still defrag.
