The game released and is in a fine state.

    Define "fine state".

Useless to talk with the trolls here... guys please if you think Darkfall will fail and if you really hate the game so much, even though you havent even played it *lol* - I just suggest leaving ALL Darkfall Forums & Sections - people have already a hard time to get an account due to the underestimated high demand, I am sure they will be happy if you are not in their queue ;)

    Thank you :)

Crafting is simple but effective. It's not a mini game but does what it's supposed to do, provide items of use at the cost of gathered resources and cash. because of degredation of items, loss due to PvP etc. Crafting will we the foundation warfare and politics is built on. The clan with the best economical backbone will surly dominate their area of influence.

Beginning range of each crafting skill is about 200-600 gold. Each goblin drops about 10 gold worth of gold , trolls about 20 gold+ resorces (which may be valuable if you find the right client). I don't find using an hour pr. crafing skill too costly.

what's up with exploration?  asked about that a few times.  sure, any game can be "explored".  so what's so great about exploration in darkfall?

Exploration gives a nice experience (lots of beautiful sights), some exitement when meeting others (will they attack or not ?) and an edge due to knowing where mobs and terasurechests are located.

i understand i have the freedom to grief in a million different ways, or to be involved in fps battles which make doom2 graphics look pretty damn nice.

It's much better than doom2, are you just trolling here ?

the pvp here isn't hardcore.  not when you see posts about "we held back the naked aesir for a second wave of attacks"... seriously?  what's the point of having full loot if you've got a huge chunk of people playing naked in a city siege???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

all of those naked people OBVIOUSLY don't enjoy full looting.

A naked guy will be killed by a plated guy. It's not a valid strategy unless you are ALOT more than your advesary. Most PvP dudes I have seen are fully equipped when they are out for business.

but aside from the QQ whining that i've quoted --- give me information.  "oh it's got great stuff"... well, homemade bread has great stuff too.  the only difference is that if i ask my wife what great stuff comprises the homemade bread, she CAN and DOES elaborate instead of saying "ya know, great STUFF".  which is what darkfall players do.

One of the things with DF is the experience of discovery.  We'll not tell you because we don't want to ruin that experience.

and again, LOOK UP THE DEFINITION OF VAPORWARE,  IF YOU ARE NOT INTELLIGENT ENOUGH TO USE THE TERM CORRECLTY THEN NOTHING YOU SAY FOLLOWING SAID MISUSE WILL HOLD WATER.  and i say vaporware, because where this game is concerned, if you haven't gotten definitions of vaporware, from mutiple sites, or you're clinging to a definition that suits YOU; then again, your intelligence is going to be questioned.

oh it's not vaporware.  psshaaw, it's not vaporware if i ignore the definitions (plural) of the term and find one single definition that suits me.

Anyone who use the term Vaporware by now is either an idiot or too stubborn to admit he or she is/was wrong.

actually, you OBVIOUSLY do not know what the term vaporware means.   the correct usage of the word would be you stating "anyone who doesn't know the term vaporware will always apply to this game is either..."

several of its definitions apply and will always apply.

but hey, thanks for not being any help at all on the crafting/exploration/taming/etc question -- appreciate ya... unlike people who HAVE answered.

hi, me again, did you happen to actually read the posts i made in this thread, and the questions i had regarding crafting and such?  or, are you still obsessing over invisible trolls and wow?

information would be appreciated, unless you're just ignorant on the topics in question, in which case, - whatever.

I see that used a lot... so I'm wondering if you could tell me how many people DarkFall had signed up on their Forums 3-4 years ago?

    How about 2 years ago?

    Hmm...

I wonder if the answer to any of those is more than 10k?

The "under-estimated high demand" is just another part of the way that Aventurine markets their game.  I will give them credit for being different.  But I think it's time this sham of an "under-estimated high demand" was put to rest.

Tasos and Aventurine chose to Release with one server that AT MOST might support 10k concurrent users... probably less.  They had triple that amount on their forums ages ago.  And those were just the people that took the time to make an account and register with the web-site.

Even a 3-year old could have done a better job than Tasos at predicting that 1 server was going to be a bit less than what their fans were needing.

I give Aventurine props for Releasing... the smallest Release in MMO history.   Even with the small, controlled Release... Tasos still managed to screw it up.  They had complete control of the number of people allowed to make an account, the number allowed to login, etc.   Yet... Tasos still managed to bungle the Release.

So yeah "under-estimated" by Tasos, big surprise there.

Kinda like saying Einstein beat Homer Simpson at chess.  Wow... big surprise.

    This thread is fail.

The only thing Darkfall is is an MMO PvP and crafting game. Nothing more. There is no story, and there will be no dynamic advancement of the world. It's just PvP and who controls what land.

It's Call of Duty: Full Loot Swords and Shield.

Nah it's just too many trolls here. They were banned from the official forum and now they've come here... But tbh mmorpg.com is all about trolling so relax and get fun

Well if people fail to see that there is definately more in DF than just hardcore pvp and full loot oh well... surely you are right... especially those who haven't played the game... ridiculous...

Why people posting in this forum if they just bash a game but mostly know nothing anything about it? Shouldn't it be that a forum is there to discuss things, instead of posting useless assumptions etc....

You should stick to your heavily self moderated forum if you don't like to read negative opinions, lorddevil, because here everybody has the right to express his opinion.

More than one month after release. The company is still 24/7 (or so they say) on basic bugfixing, since they didn't have a proper beta. After that they could start with finishing the basic game mechanics and populating the world. Or should they first do another attempt at stopping cheats and exploits? Then there is the point that the game is still not properly released, since nobody can buy it. They seemingly don't have the capacity to open more servers, since the infastructure is oh so complex.

So the 10.000 or so die hard fans who actually took the labour to press F5 for hours and hours are in. And even from them the reviews are VERY mixed. Guess what happens if people without pink glasses start to test it. If someone is eager to pay 50€ + monthly fee for grinding hours and hours and hours and macroing (attended or not) it is very fine with me, but trying to sell that as "fun" in the common sense of the word is a bit far fetched.

I definitely won't touch DF until at least 75% of the advertised features are in, so definitely not this year . And besides it being a shadow only of what it was supposed to be it will have a really hard time to survive until next year with the sheer amount of incompetence concentrated in the developing company and quite some alternatives upcoming.

I really wonder what they did in all these years, when they still struggle with the basic game mechanics like the outcome of a siege being dependent on the connection of a single person (the shardholder). This is so abysmally stupid...

Now I really have to laugh I didnt know we have censored anything on our forums, nor is it heavily moderated... sorry if you are basing everything on just assumptions - now I know whats happening here too... you opened my eyes...

Oh and if you would look a bit deeper I have never said anything bad nor did I have anything against negative opinions etc.! Actually thats what discussions are for... I just brought up some discussions, but I guess mmorpg.com seems to be the wrong place here...

    Ridiculous...

I really have to disagree here... but its up to you if you play it or not that for sure...

My own experiences are  a bit different from you tell here.. sure the people who just want to play the game to be the best ganker or hardcorer pvp or whatever, maybe they need to press some macro buttons all day long in order to be most leet person - dont know....

And exactly thats why I say it also caters to a the complete opposite of people... luckily more than I have though are actually in this game too - not just RPer but very friendly people who make a good balance between the different people...

Some people say its so boring to gather stuff by just clicking... but in DF for me at least its actually a great thing... since you need to take care of yourself and death actually is something you should avoid.... you will have much more excitement at gathering than in most other mmorpgs.... ! Also since spawn points deplete so fast you always have to move out more and more thus leaving any protection and being always a fresh meat to the gankers etc. - which against bring back the heartbeat feeling... then the fact that you cant look back while mining etc.... well what shalls its just my own experiences... but I have a blast so far :)

and all the lies inbetween to scare of any new potential df player that would be slichtly interested.
why destroy a game other people like to play? because thats what you trolls are trying to do, and when you succeeded you say: see i told you so the game... (Insert lie here).

No one here can "destroy" the game. Only AV can do that. IF DFO has issues that has cast it into a negative light, and caused people like me from blindly leaping in to buy the game, that alone should give you pause, and perhaps...then...you will try to understand that people will be critical of a product before they invest in it. Fact is it was the numerous fanboys that were so rabid about the game that probably did more damage to the game once thier lies were revealed. Its too bad honesty was so rare in the duscussions here prior to the release. BTW is it still beta? Or offically released? :} :} :} Oh im also curious about those large battles people are talking about, seems not only that you cant stay connected in these fights but your frame rate is like watching mud flow downhill, even DAOC did a better job...

This isnt the official DFO forums last time I checked. You say tomato, I say TAMATO...see how that works? Your view on the discussion here is summed up with your choice of words "bashing". Where did you ever assume that a discussion regarding the merits and failures or...to please you, potential failures of a product should in turn only be discussions about merits? Where is the debate then?

I suggest a change of venue for you. Perhaps the official DFO forums are more suited to your view on discussions regarding DFO.

Personally I love coming here to discuss what DFO can offer, like Prestige classes, roaming and vibrant wildlife that actually migrates, dynamic weather, caravans, etc etc. Wait...that content isnt in is it? Anyway im sure you are bored with all the discos and queue times thus your posts here. Its understandable.

    Discuss...

useless assumptions?  like the incredibly large list (and high percentage) of features (STILL listed on the official website), which simply did not make it into the game?

over one HUNDRED prestige classes... just cut, completely gone... wtf???

pets and hirelings that can do combat and/or harvest and such for you?   they are ... where?

seriously, if you'd stop ignoring the HUGE list of cut features and just r-e-a-d the official website...

that is what a REASONABLE person would expect from an online game only available thru digital download.  when 9 year olds get class projects that involve editing webpages; is it UNreasonable to expect a professional, multi-million dollar game to have SOMEONE that has 5 minutes a day to update text on a website?  or to produce patch notes?  or anything else a REASONABLE person would expect?

    wow.  just wow.
