Sloppy Seconds ???

sanedorsanedor Member Posts: 485

So now that the game has launched and is aging well in the east , we westerns get sloppy seconds by next year ???

Sure, let let them get the first expansion done for them too, then we get  beta i guess.. think by the time we see it, this  game will be pretty worn .. they should of launched everywhere and let all have first take on it.. but hey i am sure there are a few that like those sloppy  well worn games...

well stay i would not expect you to say anything bad against it anyway, but what i mean is that by the time the west see this game they will have the first expansion out for the east and we will still have to wait a year for that too.

Not fun when longtitude related delays work this way around, eh? lol

I like to think of it as additional testing before I get my grubby mitts on it.

er.... True, sort of parallels release plan of Lineage 1, and 2 actually.  Didn't hurt us to wait then, won't hurt us now.

No reason to be upset because the "west" isn't the initial target market for this game.  They are a Korean company after all.

And how does that effect people in the west playing the game for the first time (it will all be new to them).  Who cares if people in the east play the game first !!!! big deal.

When you open up a new box of ice cream, must you have the first one or do you get mad when someone else gets it. Does it really matter as long as everyone gets a sample.

Games made in the west are played by us first before they are launched in the east (it works both ways).

I'm not flaming on ya, i'm just trying to understand your thought process on this topic.

( I have posted here and other places on things that I do not like about aion but that's another story for another post)

I wouldn't consider it sloppy seconds. It will be new to MOST of the players that play it in the west.

I actually am glad it is out in Korea before being released here. It gives us westerners an idea of the game, if its complete crap or not. I am mostly glad that it is not being rushed to released as an unfinished piece of shit like the last 3 mmorpgs I have tried.

what is a "well worn game" in MMO terms?  Do you not play games that are older than a year?  Besides, it will be fresh when it releases in the west.

IT's still going to be the most bad-ass game out there on the western market when it DOES come out ;)

  • sanedorsanedor Member Posts: 485

Better way to state this is , every game has a time on it. Now with us a year or more behind when they decide to shut down the servers they will kill ALL, not hey we are closing this game but since we started in NA later we will hold them there for another year >>NOT so by the time we see it, if the east decides to move on to the next they may move on to another project.. we loose. why not launch to the major market at once then we all can enjoy it..and don't say these big companies don't close down games Tabula Rasa gone , Auto Assault gone so big buget games can die fast..I just think with the bad launches we have had this game could have hit the market and took over a nice part, but by the time it hits we will have more mmo ready and the player base for this will loose..

    just my 3 cents...

Your cents don't make sense.  Here's why...

Talking about the server close of a game before it's released is nothing short of an uneducated guess.  That's like trying to guess how many jelly beans are inside a jar you cannot see.  LineageII has been out for like what 5-6 years?  If I get that much play time out of Aion I'm sure I'll be ready to move to something newer and better by then.

Tabula Rasa and Auto Assult were painful lessons for NCSoft and I'm pretty sure it taught them a thing or two not to do.  Sure it's the same company, but this is a completely different game.  NCSoft also made Guildwars and that one's not shut down.  Aion reminds me of a combination of Guildwars and LineageII.  And if it's anything near that I don't think you need to worry about it vanishing after a month.  It will take a dedicated player base from both of those games.

yeah you dont make sence. So what the game is out in korea and its comming out here. Is it the 1st game to do that . No. Square brought ffxi over here 1 full year after it came out in japan. When we got it here we got the 1st expantion right on the 1st day the game was live. Unlike new mmorpgs that came out it was bugfree and polished for us becase it was ironed out overseas.

The only Hige difference Aion will have when it comes over here is we will NOT be on the same servers like the players of ffxi had to share with the japanese players thus giving the japanese a full year advantage to the na players. WE will get fresh servers which means we will  get to explore it all, there will be NO players maxed out at start ect.

Following OPs logic nobody would play MGS, Tekken, FF or so many other imported games from Asia. Following OPs logic, Asians wouldn't play western made games, following OPs logic, European people shouldn't have played WoW.

All the year delay means to me is that when it does become available in NA, chances are good that I'll get it the day it becomes available. Having the game being played in Korea for a year should mean they get most of the major bugs eradicated. So we won't have to play a broken, incomplete game here, or wait six months or a year before we try it.

I really don't understand what the rush is for some people? Would you rather it be on the shelves now, in Korean? Would you rather it be a rushed out buggy piece of crap? Havevn't there been enough of those?

You do realize the game wasn't made for western people, sure they added the western feel so that western players could play down the road but honestly, stating that Aion neglected it's major market...that's just dumb. Aion's major market is asia BTW in case you didn't already notice.

I would just like to say that the majority of MMOs come from Korea and most of the time they've been released in Korea for a year or more before they're even mentioned here in the US.  Granted the time between the release in Korea and the release in the US for a lot of games is growing shorter.

  • NarishmaNarishma Member UncommonPosts: 74

They can take as long as they want as far as I'm concerned.  The more polished the game the better it will do when it is released to the english community.  There is always space on my hdd for NCSoft games.

the point of launching date problem is not dalay

the point of launching date problem is localizing, content

    why so long delay?

because aion is 'light' fairytale fantasy NOT realistic dungeon and dragon style hunting fantasy

besides ,you(who is play aion in korean or chinese retail) feel that, lack of playable content, game managing, more game style... and so on

and aion make comfortable to 'major' mmorpg player

that mean... follow the most mmorpg player to fit Aion game (level design, some patch to they like...)

    fastest launching mean fastest failure

p.s this launching gap period has shorten every-year.

    play MMO 32hours in week
    my favorite game is
    z9star,Tenvi,Alka(1000vs1000 pvp lol),mabinogi(play almost 6year)

I do understand OPs point of view, it sucks that they get to try it before us by 1 year and I kinda lost the interest in this game by that reason, however thats how they decided to launch the game, although in my opnion is very unfair to us western players because they should've launch the game worldwide like many Big MMO's, but thats how they decided to launch the game.

I also think in a way is better for us because usually when they launch an MMO's is full of bugs and is very rough, so probably we will be able to play a very polish version of the game.

And it also sucks because Worldwide the first person to hit cap lvl probably Eastern player, the first person to kill X boss worldwide probably Eastern player and that sucks. :P

BTW stop defending the game like you own it is just a fucking game chill...
