I would like to know how the end game will be in EQ2.
Once you reach maximum level , with your char, and have happily quested along
helping all , everyone etc, defeat monsters and stuff.
Will you group with 20/30, 40 other maxed out chars, and go fight uber boss mobs and then hope u get 1 outta the 5 things it drops?
Then will you head to the major city and sit around showing off to the noobs look at me look at how elite i am!I beat EQ2!!!??
Rinse and repeat this , also twinking alts, until they raise the max level, or expansions come out with even harder uber elite boss mobs where you will have to mass even more maxed out chars to defeat them!!!!???
Is this the end game for EQ 2?
Comments
well after beating the game u will be uberly bored and wud have uberly wasted some serious amount of time

He's got a point though...
Is that really all there is to the EQ2 endgame?
But thats all there is to most computer games.
The only variable is where you compete against other players. For that to be any achievement as far as I am concerned the game has to involve player skill. Unfortunately MMORPG's don't require player skill, you win if you have the highest level character and better kit, I hasten to add I haven't played Planetside but Sony describe that as a MMOFPS.
For PvP I play games like Project Gothem Racing, Mechwarrior 4, Medal of honour, Star Wars Battlegrounds where my skill is matched against someone else and without any advantage on either side.
This is also a great deal of fun whether you win or lose.
So I don't think it is fair to single out EQ2 because it is not the only MMORPG or any other type of game that doesn't revolve around PvP. If you want to show how a game is bad highlight the areas it fails in and try to be objective. I know being objective will be hard for you because you either want a flame war or are a fanboi of another game.
The main focus of all MMORPGs is to advance your character.
Except in games where PvP is the main focus(Lineage 2), I consider PvP a mini-game. I'd love to see EQ2 get some PvP, but not having it certainly isn't something that would keep me away from the game.
Im not flaming EQ2, I am just wondering if this is the truth about how it is.
How can you role play good and evil races when they are helping each other, cooperating
etc?
It just doesnt make any sense.
Pvp doesnt have to be a huge part of eq2, it could however be an option at least, and hopefully will be someday.
I dont consider pvp to be a test of skill at all,but i'd like to have it so that an evil race may attack me
just because of i am a good race; or they may invade my city or attack my friends and we may have to defend ourselves or flee.
This would just make more sense to me, especially for roleplaying purposes.
You haven't played Planetside yet you're a FPS gamer? Dude. You're missing out. Huge battles, lots of vehicles, lots of intense sieges, and now they have BFR (Battle Frame Robotics). Give it a shot. I'm usually playing my Vanu but I also play as New Conglomerate. Fun stuff.
They are putting lvl requirments on most armors I think so it will reduce twinked players.

It is called everquest for a reason. I am sure that SOE will bump the level crunch to 75 or so once a few hundred people hit 50. That was the case for EQL.

The game system is currently design to support 200 levels, they just choose to start with 50. It is planned to reach as many as 200, no idea if they will indeed reach that amount or not however.
EQ2 have a merit EQ didnt have, the goal of the game dont change in course, in EQ2, without a guild you are nothing, the individual is nothing without the community, it is a very Japanese oriented minding even if I am pretty sure SoE was not influenced by Sony headquartes on this, they prolly where indirectly if only out of admiration or respect. Basically, replace the word GUILD for COMPANY and read stuff about Japan and the companies and all, it resume EQ2 better then anything else.
(The strange thing is, in those companies, it is about work, we are supposed to be in a hobby and entertaining and having fun, not working)

If you want to beat the game, don't play.

Cartman has a big fat ass!
I'm sure SoE already has the first 10 expansions in the planning stages.
If you get to the highest level possible and suddenly feel that you have wasted your time, pehaps mmorpgs are not the game for you.

or u can sell your account and make money for playing
I am thinking that the expansions will further develop the story. If they do raise the limit to level 200, you can expect at the very least 4-5 years of expansions. They can add long drawn out quests, something like the lost dungeons in Eqlive where you can save points. You can try to attain more status, buy a house, etc...
I am guessing that each expansion will be mostly based at increasing the level limit. Say they increase the level limit by 25 per expansion, that is still 8 more expansions.

I dont really care about beating the game. If I end up doing everything there is to do I will find another game to play. I dont really think MMO's are designed to be beaten. When and if you finish move on to something else.

Some great points/posts
I have,however, beaten every mmorpg i've played.
(except AC2, only 'cause i quitted it((but i could have beaten AC 2 too , easily))}
I beat every game i play for at least 1 month
The easiest game for me to beat was the original EQ, before any expansion was released
There is only one way to win EQ2, uninstall it. (yes, it was cheesy but surely you saw it coming)

Stop fishing for complements. Many people here play casually and have lives outside of MMORPGs. Its your choice if you want to waste 8-12 hours a day of your life playing.
I would take a whip... It's always a great toy in the hand of proffesional who knows how to do it

Nice waste of space post. Have you tried them both? Do you still like WoW better? Then your high on paint thinner, are 9 years old or have goat feces for brains. Take your pick
So, how do you beat a game? Reach the max level? Finish the storyline? I wonder what's there to be "beaten"...
