This was the kind of response I was looking for. Ok, now on to replying to some of your posts...
First I want to point out again that this was just my initial post to see what kind of commotion I can stir up. If you all are serious about this, then I will DEFINATELY make some sort of a website.
Second, like I said we will need at least a thousand players that are willing to sign back up for the game, and just to verify, I'm not expecting all of us to go to the same realm, or necessarily the same server(although I'll talk about this more later, we will need to keep it to only a few servers max, otherwise we'll be too spread out and the whole thing will not work). As for the server type, I think MOST would agree that Classic are the best, but we can discuss other servers as definately an option.
Next, about Mythic abandoning the game, I'm going to see what I can do about that. If Keridwan really does know Paul Barnett, then that's a big plus that might give us a legit foot in the door. I'll be talkin to Keridwan and see what we can find out.
About doing an event on Pendragon, Czzarre, I'm not sure how that might help our cause, BUT, I can definitely look into it. Some sort of one-time, opening event might be just the thing we need to give some new players a taste of what DAoC is like, as well as assure some of the older players that we DO mean business and to show them what the game could be like again.
About the ToA servers, I mentioned above that Classic would be the first choice, but looking at reviving one of the ToA clusters is definitely an option if we have enough to support it. Like many of the other topics, we can discuss this soon.
One of the best points made so far to my post was by Fibsdk, and I want to address that. Fib, I think you hit the target dead on. I agree with you that the newb areas will need activity in order for this revival to seriously make any headway. Without a solid base of incoming "noobs", the older generation will slowly dwindle and die...which is basically what already happened. We need to figure out a way to keep this from happening. We will definitely discuss this topic alot more.
So, to sum everything up, thanks everyone for the responses. Like I said, if anyone wants to help form a core team, shoot me an email and we can talk. Talk to you all very soon. Keep an eye on here as I'll see what I can do about a website. Later!
I'm currently looking for any and all who used to play Dark Age of Camelot and who would like to see that game return to it's former glory. I plan on starting a rally to get as many players as I can on my list. What I want to do is gather a list of a good number of players(over a thousand preferably) who would be willing to migrate to DAoC all together and get the server numbers up again. I have been playing this game since it came out, off and on, and I have to say it's the best and my favorite MMO. This is just my preliminary posting for now to see if I can get a decent response. Just send me an email if you MIGHT be interested: daoc_revival@live.com P.S. I'm looking for any players who really want to get serious and help me out with this to form a team to make sure things get done. Thanks!
I'm glad you loved DAoC and while I don't agree that we "totally walked away from it [everything we learned from DAoC]", I've always said that we weren't trying to make DAoC 2. We did try to learn our lessons from DAoC just as we are continuing to learn from WAR and I hope that the SotG next week will be another indicator of how we are learning. One of the things that is different in this SotG is that what I tried to do in this one was to address the top 9/10 of the Community's complaints/worries/suggestions/etc. Now, everyone has their own top 10 list of course but I hope that this list really reflects the major concerns (I'm not addressing things like individual bugs or a particular career of course) of the Community. FYI, the SotG is more heavily focused on RvR than PvE. As I and the team always does, we gather a lot of feedback for our game. As I've always said about Mythic, we may not always agree with that feedback but we do always listen. I'll give you one example from the SotG and the Vault Community (as well as others who will see this message) can use it as a yardstick to judge if we are really paying attention and moving the game in the right direction. In the SotG one of the issues I talk about is one part of our Endgame, City Raiding/Sacking. One of the things that we believe the players have been asking for is to put more RvR (especially oRvR) into that part of our game. I'm happy to tell you that we agree with the players and that is indeed one of the things we are working on for the next patch cycle and beyond. This is the sort of stuff that will be in the next SotG from me.
In terms of Origins and DAoC, I'm sorry that both Mythic and I have been rather silent regarding the game for quite a while. While I haven't been involved in posting about the game in years, we have had a ton of discussions about the game and its future for quite a while now. Unfortunately, as you know we had layoffs at Mythic and that was one of the reasons we have been silent recently. I wasn't going to tell (or let anyone else tell the DAoC community) that Origins or anything else was coming once I even thought that a restructuring was going to happen within EA because then I would have been put into the position of knowingly lying to the community and I won't do that. We have shifted around some folks and our discussions about DAoC and it's future will continue. I will tell you something else though. When we looked into doing Origins we gathered player feedback about the idea and I was told that it wasn't overwhelmingly something the players supported or seemed to want. Nobody wants to see DAoC abandoned less than I do but right now we need to be rather careful and smart with our resources and make sure we do the right thing. If either current or former DAoC players want Origins, I'd love to see a real groundswell of demand to back that up.

as you can see above there will never be a origins or a true classic server.

when was this thread ever about origins?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guys! I'm hopelessly lost in a mountain of mole hills! Them damn moles!
Lets say we all rallied and got a thousand people to join up, I dont know if anyones thought of this already, but its only going to be fun if you have that thousand players spread between the three realms.
That way everyone would level at the same rate to some extent, lowby battlegrounds could have decent numbers and we would have competition along the way.
Why would anyone bother after Mythic lied about Origins.
How can you prove that he lied, and even if they did, so what? I'm not going to boycott a totally awesome game just because MAYBE someone in the company kept information from me. I doubt that they lied, and as you can see in Shamus's post, he didn't necessarily lie, he just wasn't able to give us the full story. But it sounds to me like the statement he made there was pretty truthful.
I can never know for sure, but I can always hope the best from a compnay that up until this time and rarely disappointed me. And from what I can tell looking at the Camelot Herald, they are still updating the game and providing us with some of the things we ask for. If what he said was true, you can't expect them to do something we're not asking for...

I agree, if we all joined the same server it would be totally pointless. That's one of the things that will have to be agreed upon and figured out.
Not to mention, you have to realize how jacked up the population is throughout the week. Cause they still allow cross-realming which completely defeats the purpose of this game. I'd come back in a heartbeat, no kidding, if they eliminated cross-realming. Thats probably the worst setup since the ToA expansion and I refuse to put up with it.
Ya, I hear ya on that one. I'm going to see what I can do to maybe get some things fixed in the game, but I'm going to need alot of support from you guys and alot more people if my words are to carry any weight. Hence why we need at LEAST a thousand...

NOt to downplay expectations. But if you got 500 players it would still be a success

I think its great if we all join the same server. What I meant was...and maybe I typed it wrong, but when I said "Realm" I meant side.
As in I think it would be bad if all 1000 joined ALB...when really 300+ joining ALB, 300+ to Hib, 300+ to Mid would balance out better.
Originally posted by NegativeJoe im signed up. i dont remember my account info i might have to buy the game again(for the 5th time) but if this happens it should be worth it.

Haha...ya, I definitely mistyped that. To put it in the simplest terms, I totally agree with you.
Thanks Keridwan. I was actually looking up Paul today and found the link to that page, but I appreciate you putting it up here for the others.
AND JUST A SIDE NOTE FOR EVERYONE...
Let me send a message to Paul about the revival, and not anyone else. I don't want to bother him with a thousand of the same request. Sound good? Thanks.

correct me if I'm wrong, but there is no /level option on classic servers right?

Correct.
Hmm i guess this is gona be on the US servers and not the EU servers?.
Sorry, but more than likely yes =/ Is there any way that you could join a US server?
Here's a starter forum to get things rolling. Let's see some activity!

Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
Taking a MMO break, so can't join in, but DAOC RvR has never been surpassed, good luck!
