I've been a WAR player since open beta. Despite the issues, I'm having a great time playing WAR. Actually, I don't notice them much. I play the game to have fun and don't get carried away with who's OP and such. I get on, find a group, and smashface. WAAAAGH!

Same here.
There is no right or wrong -
There is only fun and boring.
haha unbalanced classes is the least of issues...
how about massive LAG?! For a game that advertised massive open RvR battles servers are surprisingly bad at handling it. How about rubbish endgame? Or how about the fact that for an RvR game is has a shitload of PvE that has to be done? City siege is suppose to be the crown of the game... and its another lagfest with oh surprise lots of PvE. Skirmish is the only thing playable... keeps are rubbish (well, defended keeps that is.... but undefended keeps is PvE so ye great fun), forts are another lagfest.
Oh I remember back when Mark Jacobs said "this game will pretty much have no CC coz losing control of your character sux" <---wtf? This game has more CC then any I've played. And now instead of doing something about shitty servers and coding etc to try and get ppl into _massive oRvR_, they are working on implementing a system that will teleport ppl away from the heat of battle of its too much work for the servers (read CRASH INC). After 7 months live they cant balance classes, they have no idea how they want oRvR to play, they are constantly changing endgame coz it sucked at release and still does etc... really what's the plan for WAR I wonder....
edit: its not all bad. you are free to enjoy it ofc. and sometimes its amazingly fun. its just that... those fun times are far apart. really really far.
I think with some large scales issues that are effecting the game we can expect Mythic and co to be working on them as we speak - how long till they produce a fix? who knows - it still doesnt mean its being ignored.
Admitedly some word would calm the masses but I think in todays market no company can ignore the pleas when in their masses.
I expect a major fix soon.
But like the OP im enjoying the game fully - its pvp so will always be like a flow and ebb of good time against bad.

Winds of Change testing
"The Winds of Change" will now teleport a small number of players in Realm vs. Realm lakes to the closest "safe point" when crowds are large enough to threaten the stability of the server.
If performance in the impacted area does not improve the system will select first those who are currently dead on the ground to be moved followed by those who are severely wounded.
My concern about WAR is that I think they strayed way too far away from GWs tabletops and RPG game.
The barely touch the GW games but instead made a very Wow like game. GWs Warhammer fantasy roleplaying game is just so much better, you should really try it out if you havnt.
WAR in itself isn't a bad game but it could have been so much more. Anyone who ever played the campaign "The enemy within" knows what I am talking about, how they mix violence, detective work, horror, humour and madness into an amazing experience. Mythic never even tried that.
I have friends who love WAR and I have a lot of friends that love Warhammer but not a single one of them like both things. The level system is just wrong in that world but I can accept that altough not with a smile but that they cut out the whole horror part? I am hoping that Mythic actually hire in some people from WFRPG to improve the game. Or that GW forces them too because this world have really a lot to offer.
If I never played WFRPG I might very well be subbing but no way now.
I been playing WFRPG on and off since 1991 (it released 1984, the tabletop version 1983).
What does post count have to do with game enjoyment? I''m sure I have more game time than you! If you have fun playing it doesn't matter how many posts you have. That's just...dumb.

Maybe you can let us know which part of the game you enjoy.... exactly. Else It may seems to others that you are just 1 of Mythic employers etc....
Just my opinion...

Well, in that case, I have a slightly higher post count so I will say that though Warhammer is not perfect and there are things about it that I don't find interesting (like the PvE) I find it a blast and maintain an account for when I want to jump into PvP.
I find the game a lot of fun as a game (not so much a virtual world). I also like the crowd control abilities, both implementing them and having them implemented, as they add a nice sense of disrupting the battlefield. A bit of chaos in the order so to speak.

Don't take it personally. People who've recently joined the forums, and/or have low post counts are looked at with suspicion, especially when they start cheer leading (or bashing) threads about a game. The resemblance to fanboi (or troll) posts is difficult to ignore.
Glad to hear you are enjoying the game, many people such as myself did not due to its inherent design. (flawed IMO)

Yes, because your post count = your IQ right?
WAR *is* fun. It's not perfect of course, no game is. But I can log on, equip a bad cockney accent, join an open warband, and have great fun rolling over a zone or 3.
So personally, I don't care what your stupid problems with the game are. Because they're *your* problems, not mine.
The OP apparently likes playing the game. So you decide it's your divine quest to inform him just exactly why he shouldn't be enjoying himself?

Uh, Mythics employes would know the answer to that question...
Besides, EA fired of any personal that was non vital so the only chanse would be a wild theory that a Mythic employe did it so that the game would sell better and EA wouldnt fire more, on his spare time.
Mythic aint such losers that they would do this kind of advertising, neither are FC, Blizzard and whoever people here accuse of this.
The guys like the game, WAR do still have players you know (No I dont play, read my earlier post). And of course they want more people to join their game, PvP game is usually funnier the more you get.
But the numbers of posts doesnt really mean someone is an "alt".
On the other hand could certain posters here been clearer: What do you like about the game, what is the best parts?

I like the range of classes and that they don't really go together but they are all thrown together, I like the fast paced fights and how, if played well, fights can turn from one outcome to another.
I enjoy the scenarios very much. I can have a limited amount of play time but within an hour's time can get some exciting fighting in.
I enjoy the RvR but I'm afraid I don't like the fact that people join groups to get easy RvR points. When a keep or objective is hard I've noticed that people start complaining and want to go elsewhere instead of staying and fighting. That is one part that I hate about the game.
That is why I think that Lineage 2's sieges were better. There was a greater sense of the occassion and of ownership. you fought to the bitter end. To that "end" since these things can trade hands so often it becomes a bit meaningless to stay and fight as one can just wait a bit for when the defenders leave and then come back. This is a flaw in the game design in my opinion. I also don't like how they made the keeps. There is too much clutter on the ground in some of them with small tents and fires, etc. It gets in the way. I would have to reference Lineage2 again as they made their castles easy to fight in.
Getting back to what I do like, I like the art design very much as well as the illusion of going through a war torn land with battles and mayem everywhere. I like the public quests though without a huge amount of people constnatly feeding them, they are a bit hit or miss.

Yap, this is the part im talking about. If you like the game and come here telling other players, it will be better to say which part you like about it. Maybe Mythic have add a new system that other players like and will join, or even come back.
And thus also help to promote the game...
Than you wont be accuse of being fanbois and a bashing war follows...
Just not for me ( can also see my thread history )

This is the part i love the most. Although there's still the holy trinity in this game, yet in PQ anyone of any class can join!

I am upset because they cut out so many of the good classes from the game, only Witchhunter remains....
I mean, Freelance is such a fun class in the RPG and would have worked well in the game. Templar had they watered down. And of course they cut out the whole idea that you start as a loser class ("rat catcher" anyone? or "tomb robber"?) and then got a good one later.
In then pen and paper RPG you kinda have to to do several classes before you got the good one, and therefore most characters had different backgrounds and skills even if they were witchhunters at the end. It gave the characters a more unique feeling and you were very proud to be a templar or Judical champion.
Still, some of the classes are still in the Warhammer feeling.

I wonder if that would have resulted in compelling gameplay. I can see and appreciate the humor but for players to spend to much time as a rat catcher might turn them off a bit. Especially if those skills don't translate to the later levels.
I think there is a notable difference between pen and paper games and the audience for them and mmo's and their audience.
With Pen and Paper games you get people who like stats and nitty gritty. Character sheets, history sheets, matrices for skills and dice rolls, etc.
MMO's do away with a bit of that as so much of that stuff is handled by the program. This is not to say that there aren't people who want to know the math behind the game but I think with the ever expanding audience for mmo's making these games more mainstream, we are getting more people who want to jump into the action. Any action. They want clear cut goals so they know how they are going to spend their time since it is limited.
Telling them that they will be something low grade until they can get to the type of class they want might not be so attractive.

I've been playing since the CE Pre orders beta. I would say I gave this game a fair chance (much more than a fair chance). It definitely had promise. The main thing I like about WAR is the fact you can PvP from lvl 1 and gain exp from it. SCs are the only form of PvP that have stayed fun for me. Everything else is the same in all zones and tiers. Break down 2 doors and beat up the boss, and hope you can actualy do something throughout the lag.
I think I have only done 1 Fort since they implemented that teleport thing if it get's too crowded. I've wasted plenty of time running to a fort only to be teleported back to a WC. Now they are putting this Winds of Change shit in the game. YAY! More teleporting back to WCs. Why don't they just spend their time learning how to fix server stability? I'm sorry but being teleported is not a fix, it's an annoyance. Almost as annoying as server crashes.
WAR is such a terribly done game, I'd have to think the only way someone could enjoy it is if they had never played an MMO before and seen what one can be like.
Well, you would be incorrect there. I started with Lineage 2 and played for over 4 years. I currently reside in Lord of the Rings online since closed beta. I've tried (for curiosity's sake) practically every mainstream or notable mmo out there. Even if it was just to get the feel for them.
Warhammer is made to be more like a game than a virtual world. This is acceptable to me as I'm not looking to live another life. Just like the game play in guild wars is acceptable.
I think players sometimes have a hard time understanding that not everything is going to be the same.
Chess is a great game and so is Monopoly. And so is Perfection while we are at it. Yet I'm not always in the mood for one and might be in the mood for another.

It has nothing to do with being different. I've played a lot of MMOs, most of the major releases. I've played FPS games since DOOM, I love RTS games, adventure games, racing games etc etc etc. I enjoy many different types of games and different implementations. What I don't like is a steaming pile of crap game, and I rarely say that about the MMOs I play since I can normally find some good things. WAR had fun PvP for about 5 minutes and then there was nothing interesting left. I don't play MMOs for the virtual world and I don't get into my characters, I play for fun and that is it. WAR does not have that.
I think the pvp is fun. It's not serious and not something that I would spend hours per day playing (though I have done some more time intensive sessions).
I think there are issues, some of which I outlined above, but for someone who wants a somewhat casual pvp game that doesn't seem to take itself too seriously, I think it could be a good game.
Where I think there is a huge flaw is that the pvp seems to be a bit like a treadmill. This can be fun (in my opinion) but not something where I would get lost in the game for years on end.
But to clarify, my statement about you being incorrect was more focused on the fact that I have played mmo's and still find warhammer a fun, light game. It's something to do when you want a quick bout of pvp but don't want to dedicate your life. To me that makes it worth it.
There are things that aren't done well but I do think what it does do well, it does... er... "well".
