They are 2 different games made by different game companies, why take up MMORPG's spaces with ongoing issues like this is beyond me.  Some will like one over the other, but in reality only that person can determine if a game is right for them.

I think it's great MMORPG takes time to release updates of up coming games, beta's, contest and have reviews to keep everyone in the news with whats going on.

    Cheers

I thought it was a nice comparison, and I don't think it was inaccurate at all.  It just plainly shows, side by side, that Everquest II has more options and variety in customization.

I would add that in Everquest II NPCs speak their dialog while in WoW your character can speak certain emotes.

WoW has many more emotes than EQ2 and better character animations.  Everquest II has a limited number of animated emotes but it does have /moods, which is nice to change your facial expression accordingly.  In WoW you can sit on a chair, lay down on a bed, etc.  In EQ2 you can only kneel.

I think the differences in the way combat works is important to mention.  EQ2 has a very reactive, fast-paced combat system using Heroic Opportunity while WoW has a more simple DAoC style system that allows you to use skills to improve your chances in battle.  EQ2 has "encounters" which are locked to who ever attackss first, making kill-stealing impossible, and has a very accurate CON system that allows a player to judge which mobs or group of mobs to attack safely.  WoW is more standard, color coded like older style mmorpgs.

I'm pretty sure WoW has a seamless world (correct me if I am wrong).  You do have to zone into the big cities, but to travel across the world, isn't that seamless?  EQ2 has defined zones, like the original, although the zones are huge.

To comment on a post above:  Item decay only happens in Everquest II when you die.  If you have only 90 percent on your items, you died once somewhere along the line.

I agree with Rentantilus, the comparison is biased toward EQ2. I also agree both are over hyped poor games. Play them if you love them but at least stop comparing. Would you compare DaoC to EQ ? AO to FFXI ? etc...  its pointless, they offer a different gaming experience, its only personnal taste between PvP and PvE.

    ---------------------------------------------
Loved : Wish, DnL, Vanguards, Tabula Risa, Mourning
Hated : EQ, UO, AC, DaoC

    added:

Can I sit in a chair?

Can I lay down on a bed?

Can I pick a mood to place my character in (ie happy, mad, sad, ect)?

    Are their emotes with animation?

    I need a new MMO

    I need a new MMOG

Well, this is all very interesting, but I think people lose track of something here- believe it or not, BOTH games can be good!

I play both. I like them both. I dislike things about them both.

WoW is almost completely seamless, and I do like that very much. The zoning is the worst part of EQ2, I think. I like the graphics and setting in EQ2 because it's very gritty and believable, and I like these things in WoW because they're pure fantasy. I like the involved, deep crafting system in EQ2, but I like WoW's because sometimes I don't want to have to concentrate so hard.

I like my Night Elf Hunter and Rogue, and I like my Wood Elf Predator and Priest equally well.

Why does everyone here think that only one game can be good? Is it a maturity issue?

Man, people, use the preview function before you post and ask yourself if you have anything to add to the conversation. If you don't, you probably shouldn't press that 'post message' button.

"Can I move ALL chat windows and buttons around on the screen without using XML files."

This is hardly a feature but part of the architecture of EQ2, should be removed.

"Character Ability traits (a boost to str, health, agi, ect..)"

For WoW you state "No (skill tree does this)" - Isnt that a yes?

"Can Non-US players play on a US server at release"

Although you cant buy the game in the UK you can import it. Plus Blizzard have said that all servers will be opened up after all zones have been released.

"Can we find rare quests on monsters or hidden in a dungeon, like old maps, or books?"

    Wrong, its a Yes.

"Can players of the “Evil” race talk with players of the “Good” race?"

Thats a yes as well, you can learn evil race tongues.

    "Player Collision / Monster Collision"

Remove the yes no from this.
"players will collide and push each other to the side"
"players can walk/stand inside other players and monsters"

"Can players “bind” to a location"

WoW is Yes (at Taverns only)

"Is there a shared bank slot so you can give your other characters items without a 2nd person holding it for you"

This is biased because in WoW you can post money or items to your other characters. Should be "How can you transfer money/items to your other characters"

"Do the NPC’s talk to you with text or real voice."

Wrong "Text and a hand full of NPC’s with voice.", Hello, Goodbye greetings and some voice over, mainly text.

    "Can other players kill steal"

Locked combat does not prevent kill steals, it stops power levelling only. WoW doesnt have locked combat.

"Is there a class that is the only viable “puller” ie the EQ1 monk"

Yes for WoW, Hunters are designed as pullers.

"Are their moods you can put your character in that will effect his facial expressions and demeanor (ie mad, happy, sad, ect..)"

Should actually be "Can you express your characters mood?", Yes to both.

"Can we Solo at any level with any class for XP"

I would argue that EQ2 allows this. I think EQ2 should be No or changed to say "at the same level as your character"

"Are zones instanced when they get too full? (players get to pick what instance they want to enter if this ever happens)"

WoW doesnt have zones, unfair to compare. It does have instanced areas.

Okay how about some WoW Baised ones.

"Does the game support an internal mail system"

    EQ2 - No
    WoW - Yes

    "Beastlord class available?"

    EQ2 - No
    WoW - Yes, Hunter

    "Do pets gain levels?"

    EQ2 - No
    WoW - Yes, Hunter only

"Can you tell if your going into an Instanced area?"

    EQ2 - No
WoW - Yes, erie blue divider marks Instanced areas.

"Do you get an xp bonus for resting in a Tavern?"

    EQ2 - No
    WoW - Yes

"Can every class own a pet in game?"

    EQ2 - No
    WoW - Yes

"Do races have Specific racial abilities?"

    EQ2 - No
WoW - Yes lots of them

"Moving around the world is seemless"

    EQ2 - No, many zones
    WoW - Yes

"Is there a Hero Class after max level?"

    EQ2 - No
    WoW - Yes

    "Can territories be contested?"

    EQ2 - No
    WoW - Yes

"Does each race have its own grovey dance?"

    EQ2 - No
    WoW - yes =)

Now playing: VG (after a long break from MMORPGS)
Played for more than a month: Darkfall online, Vanguard SOH, Everquest, Horizons, WoW, SWG, Everquest II, Eve

I'm sorry but reading this confirms that who ever made this conparison had not played WoW to any great extent.... shame i was looking forward to seeing a fair comparison. (played WoW to 60 and have a lvl 13 Druid in EQ2).

    Further additions:-

Max raid size (anti-zerg)             EQ2 Yes (14-24)           WoW Yes (40 max in a raid group)

Average Items a Raid boss will drop - How can you comment on this as yet during WoW beta all raid boss's where unitemised. Onxyia is still undefeated aswell.

The group XP thing made me laugh loads. Best XP in WoW is from instances and elite mobs and you have to group to get this. Grouping is encouraged to gain the best XP flow in WoW along with the best items and gear.

I dont know if this has been discussed "Can we find rare quests on monsters or hidden in a dungeon, like old maps, or books? " You said no for WoW, but earlier I was on my undead char hunting some zombies and I found a letter that gave me a quest.
