At the same time, all the non beta testers on other forums were demanding it to be released, or making claims that its vaporware..ect they didnt help. AV released it more to appease them than be patient and listen to the testers.

No.  They released it for one reason, and one reason only.

They needed the revenue to start flowing in.

Same reason AOC, WAR, and many other games launched incomplete as they did.

That doesn't mean the game wasnt ready it just means its a  "living world" requiring adjustements then and when for the better.

The game is not incomplete however  beta servers and live servers plus the need to maintain  them  is costly. So they couldn' t  wait for the fluff stuff some beta folks wanted to see in the game and for the suddenly raised demand (all the years folks on the forums never exceed 50k and suddenly 200k people wanting a beta spot)  having to pay for servers and service.  IMO the game is feature ready  like announced with not really important stuff missing.

The reason  for the launch trouble is located more in infrastructure being not ready  for the mass that was interested in.

Never said it is complete. read my post again.

    Ummm....

I just read your post. And then read it again. And then... just to be sure... read it once more.

I even highlighted the line in question in blue, in case you forgot or neglected to read your own post.

You, yourself said, and I quote, "The game is not incomplete ..." - In other words, you're saying the game is complete.

Then, in the next post, you say, "Never said it is complete" - Yes, you did; "not incomplete" = "complete".

    Read your post again.

You then go on to make excuses for why they launched it without all the other features in. Whatever the reasons might be in your opinion... the point is... the game launched without features it was supposed to have (remember, Tasos said it was feature complete and ready for launch months before its release). Thus... it was launched incomplete.

    Period.

    Now, let me guess...

You're now going to completely spin your previous post into something completely different and then tell me I don't know what I'm talking about or something like that... Let's see if I'm right.

And then people like you wonder why people who aren't playing the game come to these forums. Reading posts from you and robertb and javac and others and seeing the way you guys will say *anything* to defend DF, even if it's BS, is pure entertainment... and I'm always up for a good laugh.

Have you ever played any other game at release?  It's funny, I've been playing around with Freerealms.  It's this F2P MMO by sony; it has more content, and ALL of it's features in, it came out less then a week ago.  VG, I played that at release, it had a LOT of problems, but it had pretty much everything in at release as well.  In fact, Darkfall lacks more of it's features at release then ANY mmo I've ever played at release.  City of Heroes, Lineage 2, World of Warcraft, Vanguard, The Matrix Online, Auto Assault just to name a few, all had more content, and more of it's features when they released.

To say that Darkfall has more of it's announced features in at release then any other MMO is a blatant lie, or simple ignorance.

    Things that aren't in:

Each race has a unique set of abilities

    They do?

Meet hundreds of unique monsters, and take them on in their lairs, strongholds and domains. Repetitive monster encounters are a thing of the past.

There aren't hundreds, and it's FAR from non-repetitive.  You kill the same monster endlessly.

Travel through geographically diverse regions that are alive with plants, trees, birds, animals, and even insects.

Sure.  There's a ball of birds that's moves across the sky.  You'll on occasion see a single butterfly.  The world is hardly alive.

Sail your ship through rough seas, then become hampered by fog as the waters calm. Struggle as your battlefield-bound army marches into a severe storm. In Darkfall, the weather is more than just window dressing

Nope.  No weather, no rough seas, no fog.

Uncover the mysteries of an ancient civilization, which left more than just ruins for later generations to discover. Untold riches and incredible power is the prize, as you join the race to claim an age-old inheritance

    Huh?

Multiple safeguards protect you from cheats and exploits that would otherwise interfere with your gaming experience.

They don't utilize any anti-cheat software.

Darkfall?s crafting system is intuitive, non-repetitive, challenging, useful, fun - and profitable. Using Darkfall?s virtually limitless item creator system, you could invent and be the first to use a weapon as awesome as the Flamefury Raudstaal Battleaxe of Bloodshed, or just make a simple saddle for your horse.

Well it certianly doesn't get anymore intuitive then hitting a single button.  Non-repetitive is a blatant lie.  Limitless item creator?

Bring your goods to market using Darkfall?s sophisticated and secure trading system, bringing buyers and sellers together easily whether they?re inside the game or not.

Aka, trade chat.  Nope, no sophisticated trade system.

There are no safe zones in Darkfall. The only protection you can count on is your friends watching your back.

Only applies if your not in a clan that's at war.

You can enjoy easy communication with your friends, even while outside the game. Darkfall?s Communication interface includes in-game message and trade boards, an IRC-style chat system, instant messaging, voice support, and even mobile phone SMS messaging.

The chat is based off of IRC, but that's the only thing that it released with.

Trade your hard earned items using Darkfall?s secure trade interface and in-game trade boards.

By trade interface they mean a trade chat chanell?  No in game boards.

Explore the many different paths to being successful, and discover new ones that nobody thought of before.

    Say what?

Test your mettle in Darkfall?s Arena Events where individual players and teams compete for fun and profit.

    Nope, not there.

    Things that aren't true:

Darkfall places no restrictions on player interaction, so there are no developer imposed safe zones, no realms, factions, PvP zones, or any other roadblocks that limit your game.

Except there are faction, and starting towns are protected, and racial cities are the same thing as a realm.

You don?t have to spend endless hours playing in order to enjoy yourself, or to become successful. Even if you only play in small doses, your character can be effective within his chosen field, and a lot of fun to play. Whether you?re looking for intense involvement or just casual fun without a huge time investment, Darkfall accommodates your playing style

That's not quite right, not quite wrong either, but not quite how it is.

In Darkfall, there?s much more to character development than, say, raising your riding or mining skill by mindlessly killing rats all day. Instead, you'll need to practice your skills if you want to get better at them. Darkfall?s skill based system makes sense, and it saves you from having to waste your playing time leveling

No, there isn't anything more to it.  You don't mindlessly kill rats cause there's no wildlife.  However you will mindlessly kill goblins, skeletons, zombies and a few other mobs all day.  You still waste time leveling, you just level skills instead of character levels; it's the same dif.

This is pretty much everythig listed as features on thier features page.

    Well, Fariic, you see..

All that other stuff that they mentioned and didn't get implemented? All just "fluff". None of it matters.

Only the stuff they did implement are "features" and are all that matters.

If you don't think so... just ask Darth... He knows the inside scoop of exactly why AV chose to release with a list of features missing that Tasos himself said were ready long before the game launched.

Or... you know... he'll do the usual routine of spinning like a top to make up something that sounds good to him, as long as it maintains the prime objective, which is "Defend Darkfall at all cost".

Well guess people like you find amusement in being picky about picking single words from posts replied to another post and put in a different light. (even more if english isn't even my second foreign language)

However i was responding to a post claiming DF was in the way incomplete of  AoC and WAR. I wanted to express that in such a way DarkFall is not to compare with incomplete games therefore Darkfall is not incomplete in same meaning.

I continued with my Opinion about DarkFall appears to me as feature ready while playing it and i don't missing anything of importance. Funny how some people WANT to missunderstand others to make fun of them.

    Know what's sad?

I have made this exact same post here.

I have takent time to actually go through the features list, copy and paste this stuff to show exactly what is missing, and NOT ONCE has one of these guys even achnowledge what I've written.

    NOT ONCE.

I would really like to know how Darthraiden can justify stating that DF released with more of it's features then any other MMO.

When Tasos said that the game was feature complete what he meant was, the games CORE features are complete.

However, it's core features are such a small portion of the content that for him to actually say it would have meant considerably less revenue.

I still have an account open, I still log in for little bits of time here and there, and I can say without a shadow of a dought that Darkfall is by far the shallowest MMO that I have ever played, and quite possibly the shallowest game I have ever played.

And it's all because 90% of all the content that is supposed to be in game, isn't.

Anyone who thinks that the fluff isn't neccesary is out of thier minds.  It's the fluff that keeps people playing; without it an MMO gets really boring, really fast.

This game is a blast to play.

For about 2 to 3 weeks.  Then it really starts to wear thin, because it lacks all fluff.

I know people that have been playing CoD4 consistantly since it released.

There are people out there that will play DF for years.  What those people need to understand is that they aren't niche, they are far, far below that catagory.  Even a niche game can secure a higher player base then DF will, because they have fluff.

No.  They released it for one reason, and one reason only.

They needed the revenue to start flowing in.

Same reason AOC, WAR, and many other games launched incomplete as they did.

They released because it was planned and announced to release.

Yod can't truthfully say a game with features turned off because they are broken is complete. It's bullshit.

    Ummm....

I just read your post. And then read it again. And then... once more... just to be sure... read it once more.

You, yourself said, and I quote, "The game is not incomplete ...". You go on to make excuses for why they launched it without all the other features in.

Do you even read your *own* posts, or think about what you're saying before you type it?

Or wait, wait... Let me guess...

    Just like I said.

How about justifying your statement that Darkfall release with more of it's features then any other MMO's.

BTW I'm confused now. What exactly is the meaning of INCOMPLETE could someone please explain as this word is unfamiliar to me.

wsimike, help us please! This dude is messing with my perceived reality! I swear to God i saw "The game is not incomplete".

face it, Darkfall is so far removed from it's feature list that is almost a completely different game. I have played it, and despite having fun for a week running around "nayyy-keedd" fighting people that tried to grief me endlessly, in the cold light of sober reflection it is very very very poor.

Darkfall is like reading the back of a cereal box "Crispy, chewy, tastey cereal clusters coated in chocolate" and then opening it to discover a house brick.

No... I find amusement in reading the BS spin the resident rabid fans here will put out to defend DF. I'm pretty sure I said that in my previous post.

When a phrase in one post completely contradicts another in a following post... that's not being "picky". It's called common sense.

However i was responding to a post claiming DF was in the way incomplete of  AoC and WAR. I wanted to express that in such a way DarkFall is not to compare with incomplete games therefore Darkfall is not incomplete in same meaning.

Weee! See Darth spin into a frenzy!

Darth... DF boasted a long list of features for a very long time. The game launched without many of those features. Your personal opinion of whether they're "important or not" notwithstanding... the game launched incomplete.

WAR launched without all its promised classes and lacking 4 cities... thus, in the same way, I would say WAR launched incomplete based on its boasted features.

The key difference and where Mythic pulls way ahead is that Mythic never claimed the game was "feature complete", and announced those omissions well before launch, whereas Tasos insisted everything was complete and ready until he had no choice but to be honest about it.

I continued with my Opinion about DarkFall appears to me as feature ready while playing it and i don't missing anything of importance. Funny how some people WANT to missunderstand others to make fun of them.

    Well that's wonderful.

However, how DF "appears to you" does not change the fact that it launched without a long list of boasted features which Tasos said were complete and ready before launch.

Your personal opinion of the situation doesn't change the reality of it. I know, it's difficult to accept that your personal opinions don't trump objective and demonstrable facts... but it's true.

Anyway... I predicted you'd spin your previous post... and you delivered.

wsimike, help us please!

It wasn't for everyone.  Dunno what made you become interested in the game.    However i feel like playing the game that got me drown to it.

    It's funny because it's true.

Features that wouldn't made it into the game were announced year before launch . People interested in DarkFall know what will made it to release and what type of game Darkfall is.

You aren't interested in the game seems. I am and whats promised to me they delivered to me.

You folk present ancient feature lists for the not well informed. Well informed people have read about the game and the "missing features"..

I was interested in the game, but alas I am no longer. Not because people have very logically pointed out what's wrong with it, but due to the fact that most fans of the game won't admit when they are wrong faced with the overwhelming amounts of facts presented to them.

Denial is too hardcore for me.

    Ancient Feature lists?

    Heck, nevermind...

Just a quick question for you Darth. How often do you get out and deal with the general public, or leave your own little "island"?

For the life of me, I can figure out your self-centered viewpoints on everything, and I find it is a little bit disturbing.

Anyway, I'm not here to judge, but wow. Keep rockin' the cape!

    DarthRaiden, you lose!

The facts have been put up, and just because you can't translate them properly back into your native language doesn't make them not true.

    Good luck.

That doesn't mean the game wasnt ready it just means its a  "living world" requiring adjustements then and when for the better.

I have made this exact same post here.

I have takent time to actually go through the features list, copy and paste this stuff to show exactly what is missing, and NOT ONCE has one of these guys even achnowledge what I've written.

    NOT ONCE.

Because facts don't matter to them.... unless they favor the game, of course (which is seldom).

If it doesn't favor the game on its own, then they try to spin it so it does.

If they can't spin it, then it's unimportant and doesn't matter and they pretend it doesn't exist... even in the face of direct quotes from the site or Tasos himself.

They are the epitomy of willful ignorance.

I would really like to know how Darthraiden can justify stating that DF released with more of it's features then any other MMO.

Because he ignores and/or dismisses any facts to the contrary.

There are people out there that will play DF for years.  What those people need to understand is that they aren't niche, they are far, far below that catagory.  Even a niche game can secure a higher player base then DF will, because they have fluff.

Well, according to some of the rabid fans here it's already the best MMO out there, hands-down, and has potential to blowup huge and become a major success. Well, then again, javac has already stated it's already a success with ~40k players... That is, until you ask him to back those figures up.. in which case he goes into full-on spin-and-backpedal mode.
