So it's like telling someone that they just inherited $1,000,000 then later on telling them that it was actually $100,000. The $100,000 is still great, as in Darkfall people are mad because they were promised lots of features but only some of them. Those features that weren't implemented still did not kill DF anyways, the features already in game are good enough.
They are good enough to you but not to some of us. I was personally looking forward to some of these "fluff" features to break out of PvP mode. I know that this can still be done if DF but all the current extras seem to be tacked on much like how a lot of PvE games tack on PvP. I wanted the changing weather, player housing, roaming mobs, revolutionary crafting, etc... I wanted more tools to forge my own story and role in the DF world. Sadly Aventurine dropped all of that to focus on the PvP which is not necessarily a bad thing but it lost the things that were attracting me to it the most.
I had a feeling the PvP was going to be pretty good and it seems that it is but I wanted more than that. Dangit I want all of those features that were promised! I'm sure that most would agree that all those features combined is the gamer's holy grail.
Also I think that Aventurine needs to work on their professionalism. They have gotten better since their limited release but they still have a ways to go imo. Prime example is Tasos's latest nerd rage towards the eurogamer's review. Yes the review was horrible and DF does deserve more than a 2/10 but Tasos handled it all wrong imo. Instead of pointing out some of the more false statements to eurogamer, he just outright called foul and wanted it all taken down and then started an argument about the amount of hours the reviewer played. Granted Aventurine has the logs but now he has to go through extra trouble to get the logs to them. All of that because of a 2/10 from 1 site? Say your peace, go on and let the game speak for its self. Honestly though did he think that darkfall was going to get nothing but glowing reviews?
You got to learn how to shake those haters off because they will always be around.
Anyhow I have put in 2 cents. I don't hate the game or Aventurine but I don't love them either. I guess I'm indifferent.
They already banned 213 peope for cheating, and Im sure macroing falls in that category, if you, the 6 remaining players keep of with that, you are gonna be a lot easier to catch now...
You obviously don't know the rules. Exploiting and hacking do not = macros. You get banned after multiple warnings for macroing while hacking gets you banned right away.
Well it nice to know the "exciting and dynamic" [paraphase] crafting system/ combat is so exciting that :
One: No one wants to automate...
Two: Is too complex to automate easily....
The hours spent in the X years developerment have really paid of. Its not a simply click and do system is it ? Not like WoW .. but revolutionary !

See this is why we hate this company and its idiot lead developer. It has brought out everything *bad* in a game and release. All your fanboys do is deny everything and leave salient points to dissapear over the page. As I have said before you have reached a new low for accepting a game and transparency of its developers. DF has everything. Hacks, triple billing, added unwanted features (e.g. towers), lack of citied features, old website, poor forum community, dumbed down gameplay, grinding... (oh yes), financial problems, server problems, ambigous communication *... this list is endless. This does not bodes well for a meaningful and more true sandbox style game.
* Well unless some random site i says something bad (I know gasp) about DF and then Lord Tasos is in his batmobile. Talk about waste of energy.
What's so wrong with Darkfall that makes you come and insult/degrade the game? I want to understand the reasons why there's so many haters when the game is not so bad IMO. I've played it for 1.5 months so far and I still have the same excitement that I had when I started.
Could it be so simple that we think the game is actually so bad as we say it is? Could it be that we are severly dissapointed, after waiting for years for an FFA PvP game, to get this outdated, buggy pile of crap?
I dont know, what do you think?
naw, much easier to say that we are lunatic gamers out to destroy a companies game as we had any invested interest in doing so.

um, i can't say that the pvp is good in darkfall.
it's pretty shyte, tbqfh.
seriously... it took 8 years to come up with this crap? i mean, i have fun playing random f2p games with friends. the combat in most all of those games, is leaps and bounds better than this crap in darkfall.
without all the cut features (still up on the webpage btw); this game is just a really bad fps game with shitty animations and graphics.
what's to love? i'll hang out until my friends realize that it's not going to get better in the fashion they're hoping.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
So many of you dislike the game because of the attitude of the company, lack of gameplay, an uncompleted game, bad graphics, and lots of other things.
What games do you play then? Is there any game that is perfect with everything? Yes WoW is a stable game with lots of users and a good company but different people like different styles. What is a good game since Darkfall in your opinions, suck?
Maybe I don't have as much experience with all the other MMO's out there but Darkfall gives me intense gameplay and pvp raids never get boring for me. I don't have time to respond to every bad feature of Darkfall at the moment but when I have time I will type more.
People are not darkfall haters.. There are people with common sense, and fans of Darkfall.. it's really that simple.
Well, sometimes those people with common sense ignore all the good parts of DF and mention every single con to make the game look bad. People have to respect the fact that this game is entirely different than many popular games like WoW. Yeah the gui of DF seems bad but that is just because it's different than what everyone is used to.
Here you and I agree. I am not talking about people who decide that Darkfall is thier cup of tea, and play and enjoy the game.
"Haters" do not hate the game. we dislike the company and Tasos, who is a liar. This is undisputable. For those that are able took past all that and the crappy business model crappy un updated website and yadda yadda yadda.. anti DF talking points, and just enjoy the game, more power to them; glad they are able to play a game they like.
This "feud" is perpetuated by people who have any opinon that is unfavorable of the company and its practices, and even game play. The rabid cult of Tasos is what creates this nonsense.
^^ This.
I'm glad someone else pointed this out, 'cause I'm sick of explaining it, just so the usual suspects can ignore it and draw their own self-serving conclusions anyway... as I'm sure they'll do this time as well.
In a nutshell:
We don't "hate Darkfall"
We do not like the way it's been handled... especially all the empty hyperbole and spin from the King of BS himself, Tasos.

intense gameplay and pvp raids?
sort of like how let's say i'm in a U.S. clan and we know of a Russian clan.... since you can raid at ANY time and take the city... we could take their city during their offhours, and then they turn around and take out city during our offhours, ad nauseum?
pretty pathetically ignorant way to implement THAT feature.
you can get a lot better gameplay and pvp raids from probably any random decent fps out there. you can get a TON better gameplay from pretty much any random decent fps or mmo out there.
your question about what game to play/is out there is too open ended. it doesn't matter how that question is replied to you have half a dozen + negatives comments with which you can reply with and be like "oh but darkfall is better cuz i like it".
opinion is great, for you. factual information is way better.
what game is better than darkfall in which aspect(s) exactly?
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
Alot of the dislike for Darkfall came long before the game was even released.......Fo some reason Darkfall had some very rabid fanbois that were lurking in every forum here.....Someone would start a thread saying "come try LoTRO" and there would be 50 posts saying that Darkfall was going to be the greatest game ever made.......After awhile these posts get irritating and old.....Then when the videos of Darkfall started coming to youtube alot of us were kinda miffed by what so many thought made the game so great......I mean it looked absolutely brutal, like 2 teenagers were just learning how to code in their basement and tried making a game.......The game isnt as bad as alot of people say nor is it anywhere near as good as the fanbois claim......Its a mediocre game made by a small Indie company....They have made some bad decisions and their business practices are about as poor as it gets for this industry......
What's so wrong with Darkfall that makes you come and insult/degrade the game? I want to understand the reasons why there's so many haters when the game is not so bad IMO. I've played it for 1.5 months so far and I still have the same excitement that I had when I started.
I haven't posted since I saw the actual state of the game but I can sum up why I would have if I had:
"The game is ready, we just need to make sure we have the capacity" - Adventurine
"The game is feature-complete, we just need to polish some things" - Adventurine
"The game is ready for launch" - Adventurine
Etc... ad nauseum... the list goes on.
Then, finally, after over 7 years of development including a complete 'back to basics' re-write:
Buggy.... many features that were supposed to be in not in.... nowhere NEAR feature complete.... not enough capacity.... obviously NOT a finished product... Possibly one of the worst MMO launches ever.... the list goes on.
Compare those two scenarios... the quotes from Adventurine... the fact that they have never updated the feature list on their site to match what is ACTUALLY in the game... the fact that they, to this day, try to claim that all is sunshine and roses in the game... and you should start to see why people are, rightfully, pissed.
As I said, I haven't said anything on this because I generally feel that if you have nothing nice to say you shouldn't say anything....
I said plenty of nice (and not so nice) things about the SWG: NGE when it hit... and I hated it... but I still pointed out the GOOD things in the game... about the only 'good' thing I saw in DF was.... well.... it released finally.... other than that? It was utter crap... So rather than post nothing but negative, I simply stopped coming to the forums here and chose to stay away. I only came today out of curiosity to see if things have improved since initial launch.
Apparently, judging by the threads from both 'haters' and 'apologists' (generally avoid using the term fanboi because I think it's stupid), it hasn't.

well, it went from rvr to pvp "raiding" or whatever.
you have cities you can defend. some of these cities have chunks of wall that just don't touch the ground...
other cities have easily discovered ways of getting past shut gates.
you can attack another city pretty much at any time, yes? so quite a few cities fall due to raiding at offhours. there is no way to set a window for your clan/alliances play times.
eve, aoc, other games have this problem... in a way... but they have ways that it can be "fixed".
this is the meat and bones of the game --- everything else has been cut... pve is NOW being proclaimed as irrelevant... crafting is pretty plain and simple... so.. NOW pvp raiding is the meat and bones... or, are we not talking about attacking for land? and we're just talking random pvp just to do it?
cuz um, you HAVE to have a city to do "stuff". so yeah... this aspect of the game is seriously borked, in quite a number of ways.
and alliances... what's the point? only the city owners get buffs... so... your allies are cannon fodder?
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
What's wrong with DF? Beyond the fact that what AV have been pretending the game would be is not even close to what was actually delivered? Not much (ignoring quality/design of game)
And that deception continues to this day, because it's well past the point that not updating their website to accurately reflect the game can be attributed to workload/laziness so forth, now it's just plain fraud and deception
If AV had been honest DFO would be just another of the 100's of others games out there that pretty much no one beyond the few who play it have ever heard of, but they pretended to be a lot more and failed to deliver, so they are just reaping what they sowed

Just phrasing the question the way you did suggests you want a war or you're not able to reason. The whole passive/aggressive thing is so passé.

Anyhow I have put in 2 cents. I don't hate the game or Aventurine but I don't love them either. I guess I'm indifferent.
