So we all have been waiting for Darkfall as if it were going to save us from some mass-mulitplayer recession....... and, according to most of you, it didn't.

I just got the game yesterday and am having a great time so far, but my question to you all who absolutely detest the game, is what will you do now? What MMO fulfills your wants? I can't go back to WoW...... haha, as most of us can't. UO is just too far gone to even consider reviving. Games like AO & DaOC nearly require you to have lots of cash in game in order to get off your feet. SWG went down the hole years ago-- i'm sorry, even if it's a cool game now, I'm stuck envisioning a Jedi as something special and the current SWG just doesn't cut it.

Is there anything worth considering these days? I mean I personally am going to keep going with Darkfall until I hate it myself, but I'm just curious. For all those who were let down, what are you turning to now?

Strange you didnt mention Mortal online...

Try giving that a look and ask where players will look to now....

Love it when posters just vent without thought.

eve, city of heroes, maybe ryzom, lots of fps, lots of f2p mmos.  not like there's a lack of games out there.  but i'll hang out in DF until my buds realize that the devs aren't going to fix anything NEEDED in the game.

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

Agreed, MO is just a promise on the horizon, no telling what they'll end up delivering.

Myself, I'll console myself with drinking beer, smoking cigarettes and surfing pron on the internet.

Maybe play a bit of EVE now and then too.

    1) D3 isn't an MMO its a Co-Op RPG

    2) The people that want everything that DF was "suppose" to offer will not go to GW2 because that game isn't a sandbox game. The hardcore PvPers may not like it either because its going to be more focused on PvE (there will be no PvP only characters *cry*)

    3) Mortal Online, while it may be over hyped, at least will have the following: Sandbox, FFA Full Loot PvP, amazing crafting system (even if making things isn't fun the fact that you can make over 1mill types of things will be bad-ass) player housing (if they don't have player housing at launch they won't have sieging and city warfare at launch either lame), and a unique race structure that will be great for RPers. I have every intention of playing the game if all that I listed is in the game and funtioning the way I believe it will.

    4) As to the OP's question if you don't mind FvF PvP Mabingoi is a great F2P sandbox game.

I'm having trouble reading into the intentions behind this post. Are you saying I'm a poster who's venting without thought?

Honestly, was just curious as to where people are turning now. I've gone through so many MMO's and none of them have really given me a sense of true involvement other than Ultima Online and Star Wars Galaxies. I thought Darkfall would.....and it still might, just not yet.

Maybe I have jumped to a conclusion with your OP,maybe it was me or the way it was worded but if you are looking for an MMo with DF in mind and arent going "to play it until you hate yourself" then maybe check out Mortal online..it could be for you.

I've never really understood how some people get so worked up and hyped about games to the point that enjoyment of any other game becomes impossible.  Liking Darkfall doesn't mean one can't like another game.  I'm having fun in Darkfall right now, but that doesn't prohibit me from enjoying other games.  I don't look to a MMO as a career choice like a lot of players.  I play until I'm not having fun anymore then I find something else.  After all, fun is what playing games is about and I have fun with a variety of games.

GalCiv is a decent little game.

Anyways, Mortal Online has an interesting skill system, but I don't know more about it than that. It might be a decent game. LOTRO's Monster Play is good PvP, its just catered towards carebears.

As for Ultima Online - the free shards are still good, but don't have anywhere near the population they once had. The shard I play on had about 1200 logged in players the day before yesterday, but that was mainly multiple accounts logged on at once. Still, its nice to get some PvP action without worrying about a nerf in the future due to whining.

Kinda sounds like you're getting a few words off your chest dude. No one has really mentioned 'getting hyped up about a game to the point of not playing other games' or even 'playing an MMO as a career choice'. The initial question was just "What game are you going to play now that Darkfall didn't live up to your expectations?". Keep in mind you're on an MMO forum man, I'm specifically talking about MMO's. I mean, I KNOW I always have some good ol' Smash Bros 64 to keep me going, I'm talking about the time I take out of my day to sit down and enter a world where I have a character to build on.

I didn't mean this offensively, like you'd assume based on all the trolls 'round here.  Just pointing out that I think you missed the question..... then again you're the 2nd person, maybe I should re-phrase it!

Never even got to TRY Darkfall, but I have given up on it and remain on Ultima Online (legit) and just tried Eve again and enjoying both pretty well. I'll probably just stick with those two, maybe go back to WoW again someday, and definitely try out Champions Online.

Detest Darkfall? Lol, not really. Just diappointed it didn't managed to get even half the concepts from the table to the game. Lord knows, Aventurine had plenty of time to "get r' done".

Fortunately, my gameplay habits weren't hinged on whether Darkfall was a hit or miss.

I'll just keep dabbling around in LotRO until something else comes along that peeks my interest.

Ah so you hang onto DF b/c there is nothing else you can think of that can keep you entertained.  Is that a pathetic way of admitting that you did not have a life apart from camping your keyboard.  That is sad.

There are many ways of killing time, the worst form is to have time kill you by forcing you to do something sub par.  We do not like DF, its crap, we move on.  Each and everyone of us have his/her own ways to enjoy a little bit of relaxation and leisure.

You have to bring up WoW, you need WoW in every discussion related to DF?  "Most of your you cannot go back to WoW" you said, so what?  A handful of you cannot go back to WoW, does the many millions in WoW miss you, do they even notice your existence?

UO DAoC, come on, even after their demise years ago, these 2 still stand miles better than DF is now or ever will.  Don't try to compare DF to UO or DAoC, its not in the class.

What are we turning to?  We need not turn into anything, we have a life, have things to enjoy, and games are just one of the many options available to us to pick when we want to burn an hour or 2.  As for DF, its not a game that generates fun for me, so its off the list for playing.

What is DF for me?  Soap opera, and a dev who is as hilarious as my sister's baby when he was younger.  When I denied his icecream last year, he behaves like Tasos.  Now at 3, he is more mature than Tasos.

    1.  Why do I care if D3 is an MMO or not?  If its fun, I will play it.  DF can call itself MMO, PVP, ffa PVP or whatever it wants to call itself, so what?  Almost every sane person flees from it.

    2. I, for one, need not and will not restrict myself to playing just one form of game.  Likewise, I do not restrict myself to eating just Chinese food or Mexican food.  I play what I feel like today, and whatever floats the boat for me.  I will purchse D3 no matter what, and 99% sure I will pay for a copy of GW2 too.  That is b/c I have faith in blizz and NCSoft.  The games might end up not perfect for me, but I am pretty sure I will enjoy these 2 titles for a while.

    3.  MO is just a pile of words now, and without the kind of faith I have in Blizz and NCSoft, its just a wait and see situation for me, when it comes to MO.

    4.  As a reply to OP, I generally do not play games that are exclusively ffa PVP, if I really need a pvp game, GW and DAoC are still in my mind the best of their own kind.  Hack, I am having fun playing Street fighter with a friend after work now, just for the laugh.

I mean look at the game list. There are allot of games and you are telling me out of the 100s of games; Darkfall is the only one for you?It must be the best game you ever played or was that WOW?.There plenty of others things to do in life until the next best thing comes along..I am really sorry to say I dont have a short mind spand  for one thing and Darkfall is not it..

You should try the Vanguard 14 day trial if you haven 't already.  If offers a lot of what darkfall does and in some cases, offers it better.  However it does have a few downsides, like leveling, auto target and spell track/follow.  I have been pushing for a lot of improvements for Darkfall.  I've recently cancelled my subscription but I have not given up on Darkfall.  A good patch tomorrow, who knows, I may come back.

Yeah true man. Vanguard was pretty sweet. I tried it around a year and a half ago, but the graphic requirements were rediculous for how it actually looked. It just lagged so much I couldn't stand it, and I run all other games just fine.

Maybe I'll check it out tho - i did get a Macbook Pro which might just be able to handle it a bit better now. Problem is that my friends who I play with aren't going to upgrade their computers for a single game, haha.

14 Free Trial sounds sweet though, thanks man.

Yeah I'm pluggin' away at Darkfall. It's pretty fun, but its damn relentless and hard to get used to. We'll see, I've only played it for 3 days so far. Thanks for the response!

Im sticking it out with DF for the meantime, and though it fell short of what I anticipated for 8 years or so, Im finding myself browsing MO every now and again for continued feedback.

What is FE?  I dont mind more PvE centric mmo's, but i find myself quiting them after a few weeks due to the sheer lack of more player-influenced and driven environments rather than static computer-code driven mobs and environments that seemingly limit the immersion for me. I know that's completely subjective and based on personal preference, but while I anticipated that WAR would be a nice happy medium, I joined a PvE server and became bored after hitting level 38 with my Disciple and running the same scenarios over and over again.
