Regarding skill progression and effectiveness in Mortal Online, will afk-macroing give players who engage in it a distinct advantage? Or, are there controls built into the system that nullify it as an issue?

Truth is no one knows.
However the skill progression is the same as UO and DF as I understand, therefore there is not too much they can do regarding macroing. Also the guilds that play DF will be playing MO, and there is no ifs and butts that clans like Lords of Death, Goons, Mercs, Blood especially, Sun, Oromea, BKB etc etc will all macro and exploit to get top advantage.
So they can try to curb the macroing, I wish them luck....bet its going to be happening anyway.
There are "protections" built in apparently. Any topics on macroing or hacking are immediately closed on the official MO forum though. Its not allowed, but we shall see how well they do with detection and enforcement.

I see macro haulers a lot in a particular low sec system in EVE online. Yes, they blow up a lot
Well, I expect there will be rampant AFK macroing. There is in everygame basically.
DF has it. The guilds who did it in DF will do it in MO. People who see them do it, will do it also.
And than those people can talk about how amazing they are for their afk macroing!

as a percentage i would guess there is more macroing in FFA pvp games with seamless worlds than PVE games - the competition is so much higher

It will be interesting to see what type of "protections" they have talked about implementing.

Primary Skills won't take very long to train and there's a limit as to how many you can have active, so at the very least people using macros shouldn't be at a huge advantage. I guess this depends on SV staying true to this post and keeping the impact of Secondary Skills at a minimum.

Thank you very much for the information. Sounds interesting, though as you said, it'll depend on whether or not this design concept makes it into the release as they've explained it there.
