the curseing, the sexual and racial slures

I don't know much about the community as I'm not playing this game. However, my brother is. All I can say to advocate any harsher claims against the community is that I saw a dwarf dancing with a naked night elf. It was pretty comical and there were people gathered around, but I wouldn't doubt too much that they wouldn't be butt-naked if that underwear wasn't ingrained into your skin. *shudder*

This isn't the only game that has a problem

I hear ya. Play Race War Kingdoms until you reach level 100 and have the ability to chat. Then open your mouth with a newbie question. I guarantee you that you will get at least 1 offensive answer. These cocky, immature children are poised to strike with a string of 50 flowering words each time someone opens their mouth. The rest of the time it's simply chat with a few sexual connotations here and there.

Well i was in EQlive back in 1999 when some guy was busy spamming racial insults on our erudite wizard.

Unfortunely for the spammer the guy was an actual black briton and took it very hard.

And make matters worse he was group at that time with an all britsh group. So of course we were realy really annoyed.

So we decided to take the issue up with the server GM and we did get the guy banned permamently and i believe the erudite chap got a sorry letter from  verrant with a month's free playe.

So really there are rude and insulting people all over the mmorpg world however a game becomes what the company running it makes it.If people are dealt with properly then people learn to behave.

    Just like real life.

YEa I am also thinking about getting it for xmas, I think it will be a very good game.  I also think that having a few immature/ bad community takes away from any game.  I mean get yourself a good guide to play with. But thats what I think.  I'll just try to saty away from those people when I play.

my only advice is play on a PvE server or smaller PvP server.   I think the biggest jerks and griefers went to the largest populatioin PvP servers, so they have a higher concentration of them.

I play on a low pop, PvP server.  I havent met a jerk yet, and every question someone seems to ask in 'general' is answered.  I dont mind slang too much tho, and if thats what some people mean by jerks, then maybe you wont ever escape taht, but i more or less consider the jerks to be griefers, exploiters, and rude people.

The community is the one thing I was worried about in this game.  The first day I was in open Beta I got worried because the general chat channel was being spammed by some very obnoxious persons.  One or two people, but it always seems like more.  It went on for 5 or 10 minutes but then VERY abruptly stopped, maybe a GM or something.  That's where it ended though, but I turned off the general chat channel a day or two later after I figured out how.  "/leave 1"  The worst I've come across since then is opposing faction people luring me in for prey, aggrevating, but a lesson learned.  Duels in PvE servers initiate regular PvP so when they beat you, you are tagged PvP for anyone to attack. It works though, makes for good Alliance vs Horde relations.  I am wishing I had started my characters on a PvP server now, the PvP can get interesting and it's not as frusterating as one might think.  I was PvP during open beta and I was astonished how quickly the alliance stormed out of the woodwork to run off the horde intruders form the low-level area I was questing.  Got some great screenshots, there was easily 50+ of us in a lynch mob scattering them off into the woods.

Anyway, I am actually surprised how helpful some people (but not all) are to take a minute. It reminds me of the better half of EQOA people, the other half sucked.

All online communities have their bad apples... look at the trolls here!  I've even joined in here and there regretably.  This was a good topic to reply to, for it will be my last post for exactly this reason.  It's too depressing when my opinion of society is in the gutter already.  I'm back off to WoW now, it's a much better place...

Goodbye all!  It's been.... eh... well....  Goodbye!

And they still enforce grouping upon me in all those games...
