I have read good reviews from players so far. But what they like in common is the graphics. Is there more to it?
I have played Aion China, and have a level 30+ character plus 2 20+ characters of other jobs.
I really wanted to like this game but there is something in me that is not attracted to it.
1. There is no swimming.
2. There is no mount. I hate running.
3. PvP Aerial combat is they say unbalanced. (not sure, some say Archers rule in aerial combat)
4. Less diversity in skills. Youll just have to level up the same skills as they have a different name the next time you upgrade it. You gain SOME as you level up. Like 3 new skills in 8 levels. And some of these new skills are passives which you cant use.
5. The environment and area is SMALL. The paths you go to is linear that if 5 of your friends go together the path looks crowded. You cant fly to the other side to reach your destination faster. (Funny as this is a flying MMO). Houses are small you cant enter it. It is there just for props.
6. No penalty in ganking lowbies. And yes you can farm each other using KISKS to give you abyss points if you have friends on the opposing side.
7. Not much skin. Ive heard the mobs youll be fighting at level 20 will be the same ones youll be fighting at 40 but they just comes in different colors. I think i notice this too. OMG, cant even produce enough skin, and this was supposed to be a big budget game. I love to say this. This game got KOREANED.
Im not gonna talk about grinding. Because the chinese version is different as they say than the NA/EU version. Its supposed to be catered to western gameplay. Although Ive spent 5 levels just grinding because the quests dont really give much XP. Grinding the same mobs over and over again. The same skinned mob but with a different color.
Ok fanbois defend the game. So much HYPE and theres not much content. They say its polished but there aint much to it. Less content and features = less bugs and imbalances.
Comments
There are alot of games out there that i don't play. That doesn't mean i hate them. People who rant about HATING this game and HATING that game really needs to get a life - There has got to be something better for you guys to do rather than expressing your hate for a game.
Fail thread, since the game hasn't even been localized to Western standards, and more than half the people that read these forums haven't even played the game yet.
And you saying "Archers" rule Aerial combat obviously means you haven't played this game past level 10, not to mention don't even know the name of the classes.

An even more shocking point is, you don't generally get aerial/wings until level 11 or so. rofl
Edit: I actually enjoy the game, but you don't know what you're talking about.
By reading your list I find it hard to believe you have a lvl30 char in game. Show us some Screenshots and then I might comment.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
Someone this forum was calling the rangers, archers before... he was complain about when they were flying they were unstoppable in PvP. This guy sounds like he read alot post and just may a list of everything other people hate.
Word. Hatred for a video game is a clear sign that someone needs to step back and re-evaluate their view on things.

I really do hate Aion...
Oh ya we have to back up why...
I hate Aion because it hasn't been officially released in North America yet.
I will continue to hate it until then... and then I will consider the possibility of not hating it.
I agree, why use the "HATE" word and in BOLD!
Chill, inhale, count to 10, exhale while saying to yourself: "This is a game I'm talking about, etc."
Things I dislike in Aion? mm let's see:
1- The early levels remind me a LOT of WoW
2- Bots
can't think of anything right now, a bit drunk so nvm.
Ah ha. Ok, should have rephrased it to. What are the things you dislike in Aion?
Ranger or Archer whatever, dont bash me for it. I know the Ascension quest is level 10. Thats when you get wings.
Graphics aside, is there more to it? Lore? Role playing and immersion?
Eh? I was level 11 when I did, then again, I grinded in the beginning area a lot. I was that.... human looking race, that I forgot the name of. I haven't played since beta.

English is my second language. Would you like to rephrase it for me then? How about dislike?
"Things you dislike in Aion" - does this give me a life?
I want to know your negative comments of Aion, not your opinion of no lifers.
Dude what question do you want answered? things we dislike or the things that are good in the game?
Love the game lore, RP's heaven with the amazing music, animations, emotes, the missions are really great and voice overs will kick !@# when done for the NA/EU release. So yea it's immersive, good for RP fans and Lore is great IMO.
i have a 27 glad and 22 chanter on a china server, these are the reasons why i can't bring myself to login anymore:
- the armor is odd. on the one hand there is a lot of skinheavy armor early on (like plate which is miniskirt based from 20 to like 40), on the other hand the armor is way way over the top, everything gets bigger and bigger, shoulderpads for example are straight out ridiculous (hi wow)
- equipment customization is screwed, you can only customize after lvl 30, there is no cross-armor-class skin changing and abyss items stay as they are. i still have no idea why either of these restrictions are in place, i hate them, they all suck bad.
- there is no class that i actually like, i like parts of the gladiator, parts of the chanter, all the other classes don't even remotely interest me.
and that is all. i will not play aion on na/eu release, even though i have waited for aion for the last 3 years.
yes those reasons might seem odd to some, they are game breaking for me, no reason to waste my time with a game that doesn't actually give me what i want. the reason i am writing this, is because the negative criticism on this board is often very weird, while i actually think the positive remarks are too. so in conclusion this post has no sense.
yea zarzu, very odd.
Aion has some of the best looking armor I've seen in any game, and you should just be happy that equipment customization is in the game, what the hell? would you prefer it wasn't then? Be grateful for what you have, don't be greedy. This feature is exclusive to Aion and you complain about it? Oddball!
The 8 classes are traditional to all MMOs.
Dunno, your reasons are very very strange especially the equipment customization.
Could you elaborate on that because I don't think I understand what you are referring to there. All gear can be customized with manastones. There's also the godstones (whatever they do) so I guess it's not stats you're talking about. Do you mean cosmetic customizations?

Same as me, i have waited for this game for 3 years but got disappointed.
Correct me if Im wrong but there are only 3 instances in the whole game.
1 is the fire temple at level 30 and 2 lvl 40 dungeons for end game equipments.
This is very little content and end game is a zergfest. If one side dominated the other then the underdogs try really hard or quit. I think this game is really not for me.
eq2 actually has a better equipment customization in that you can wear any armor over what you are currently wearing, no matter what level, no matter where it is from and no matter what class of armor, as long as you are able to wear it.
if they wasted time to actually make customization i don't see a reason to restrict it like they do, yes i will always complain if i think someones is doing irrational things. and i also think that look and feel customization is a must have nowadays, mmorpgs haven't developed in other areas, they should at least provide this.
the classes are actually very far from the traditional classes, traditionally you have the following stuff: warrior, hybrid melee, healer, nuker, summoner, archer, rogue, bard, chanter(aka crowd controller).
aion is missing a hybrid melee, bard and chanter, in exchange they have an offensive warrior, an aura healer and all cc merged into nuker and summoner. and as you might have guessed what i play in most games are bards (which have been successfully eliminated by a lot of new generation mmorpgs) and melee hybrids.
@LynxJSA: yes i am talking about cosmetic customization
what i actually forgot to mention is that i think the stigma system sucks balls and that they were missleading people by talking about cross-class stigmas for years, when afterwards they simply gave up on it because they were lacking ideas to balance them. very cheap. funny is also that still alot of people actually think that there are cross-class stigmas of any kind.
So you're QQing because the game doesn't have the ultimate BEST equip customization? Ok...
Can't find the class you enjoy? no class is fun to you? Sucks lol, you are really, really picky.
The great looking armors which are sometimes a bit too shiny can be too much for some players as well.
But If these are your true reasons for giving up on the game, I think you could've saved yourself some cash instead of trying it if these things were game breaking to you. The classes, along with the game's art direction were well known even before the game's launch in Korea.
Anyway the art and the classes are at the core of the game, so sadly, it' will never be for you, no!
i was actually rather optimistic about the gladiator fitting my playstyle and the plate armor i saw to that point in time was rather pleasant and not that insanely over the top like what i am seeing these days, so i really thought aion would be something for me, i also only got the news about the cross-clas stigmas a month or so before china open beta, and i never cared to extensively fish for information about the equip customization because i didn't think they would add odd restrictions.
anyway, i only wasted 10$ and still have like 50 hours playtime left, next stop is champions online. and i really don't think i am that picky, i play mmorpgs for 10 years now and have played far too many games to make big compromises just so i have a game to waste my time with.
This thread is a perfect reason why NCSoft has tried to make it difficult for NA /EU players to NOT play this game until its ready for NA/EU. Maybe they knew that na/eu players would come here complaining about the game because it doesnt fit NA/EU play style yet. If you have not figured it out yet its because it is not ready for the NA/EU players. Your playing a version not meant for you and yet you come here and cry and moan. I dont think its fair to Aion and I also dont think you have any right to come here complaining about a version not meant for you.
I am not saying things are going to change drastaclly, and I am not saying your going to like our version but dont judge a version that is not meant for you.
Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)

Favorite MMO: FFXI
Well, I don't "HATE" Aion, I'm not very interested in it at the moment. But one of my big turnoffs is the overall style. Girly men, rediculously sized weapon and over-the-top, glowy, shiny WoW-esque armor, and ballerina combat? No thanks. I know it's Asian, but really. Graphics, though, are respectably good, even if the style isn't for me.
i hope you really aren't, because the chances of anything changing but the text is minimal, it's gonna be a big surprise if the exp curve is adjusted, anything more than that is simply not going to change, therefore i don't think comments like yours have any weight at all, this is like the "it is still beta, on release everything will change!"-comments, and it has never changed, the picture you get from aion at this point is just as good as the one you will get on release.

Yea I agree, and I hope to God they don't make the game easier than it currently is. All those QQs about needing time to reach end level, wanting mounts to travel faster, Dumbing down crafting even further etc.
I hope they don't change anyrhing except quest texts and voice overs. Wishful thinking maybe, however every one is allowed to dream!
not sure where you read rangers was op they're pretty gimp actually and i've seen videos of them getting dominated by assassins wich is just odd in flying pvp or gound pvp really since the sin has to get upo close enough to do dmg. unless maybe they got buffed in the korean retail since i played it last?
I dont know if any of us really know enough about it to give a valid opinion.......The ones playing in China retail are having to play over a long distance and with language issues........Until the game is finished and at least in open beta in NA/EU then most of us wont have a good idea of whether the game is any good or not.......It doesnt matter to me if 3-4 million people in Asia are playing it.......
