Depends on if you like singleplayer/multiplayer or MMORPG. Since an mmo is hardly fun without other players in it. I heard they fixed most bugs and the game is running smooth. But I think it was alittle late on their end.
If you dont want to group, then Vanguard is indeed a poor choice. All the best content will not be available to you. OTOH if you dont group, why play a MMO at all ?
I soled all the way to 47 and maybe did miss content but it didnt spoil my enjoyment of the game untill the end..then i just got lonely.
Do a search mate on why solo players play MMO's! you will see what MMO means...it's nothing to do with grouping, it's about being in a multiplayer enviroment, socialising and competing. grouping is a small part of MMO's. No need to discuss it with me though, this ones been done a million times....seems solo players understand soloing and grouping! whereas group players are usually a little short sighted and dont see the other side!
Well, but nothing you said changes the fact that Vanguard IS in fact by design meant for PvE grouping. Yes you can solo today well at all levels, but the real good content with the best gear rewards is available almost always through grouping, and raiding.
It was designed for both friend. otherwise why would there be solo content in there? yes you can get better gear if you group, but you can also get to end game by soloing. meaning you can choose to do either. As a solo player i can choose to group if i feel like it, or as a group player i can choose to solo if i choose. And as for raiding....it's a new thing to VG raiding was never a big part of VG untill recently.
Oh by the way i started my character in beta and rerolled him at launch. So it's been a mix of soloable/group game from the start. but just for the record...are there any out there that think it's a struggle in VG to solo? in my mind it's one of the easiest games out there to level in, and that's it's biggest downfall for me. the rest of the game is great. If only it was more of a challenge it could have been a great game!
You think it's easier to play than WoW, LOTRO and COnan? Really? You should play some more, I completely disagree.
I said one of them friend...all of those games you mentioned i have also played and left due to being too easy too....well i stayed with lotro for a little longer and ...yes i would say i found VG easier do you really think if i played VG longer i would find it harder?
No, but clearly your comments are delusional if you think that LOTRO is harder to level than Vanguard.

Hehe ok! but could you explain why please? if you find it easier i think thats more due to your style rather than you being delusional. so why am i delusional to find something easy? but please remember that i didnt actually name any games till you did. i was just generalising that i find the game one of the more easy games to level. and maybe i levelled slower in lotro because i enjoyed the lore more and so didnt concentrate on levelling....even so this could be interesting hearing how you came to your conclusion about me being delusional.....that is if you can find something intellegent to say
Out of AoC, WoW, LotRO and VG, I would say WoW and LotRO are the easiest to level. Especially since Turbine reworked the leveling progress in the lower levels. And they're constantly having bonus XP sprints.
I'm a very casual MMO player, so it takes me a while to max level a toon. It still only took me 1.5 months to get my guardian to max, and that was long before Moria was released. After Moria, it's even easier 1-50. When I rolled my captain, I intentionally took my sweet time leveling. LotRO taught me to enjoy the ride to max level instead of racing to get there.
VG isn't that hard to level 1-10, especially if you're on the Isle of Dawn. Once you hit the rest of the world, it'll slow down after 20. Thanks to LotRO, I'm taking my sweet time leveling my druid in VG and enjoying all the different aspects of the game. I've been stuck on level 21 for a week now, while I explore and work on crafting.
Current: None Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN
excellent friend! that's how you should play a game. play at your own speed and enjoy the game, no need to try to level fast. unless maybe in games like War. For me the sweet journey outweighs the end by far.
Last but not least, population, since im based in EU I would ofc be interested in a EU server, how are the population levels? are there alot of new ppl coming back to the game (since I have seen the ratings of VG go up quite alot these last months i assume there must be some kind of new player influx)? Is there any server that is particularly active guild wise? Thanks in advance for any responses.
There have been a few posts recently about populations increasing to one degree or another. The most populated server being as high as 1,000 players online at prime time.
The same people saying the game is growing now were posting prime time numbers for all servers being 1,000-1,500 several months ago, so no that game isn't growing.
I think vanguard is one of the better games on the market, but the question of returning or not depends on your expectations. The future of this game is very shaky at best. Soe just does not treat this game with any serious consideration. I'm not just talking about the game not getting anywhere near the content updates of other games, but things like the lead producer leaving without even saying goodbye (or being replaced) or soe not even offering free trials to mxo players that they did for their other games.
If that doesn't bother you then there is some fun to be had. I think everyone would be doing themselves a small favor just to experience the open style world even if the game doesn't fit their needs.
Between AoC, WoW, LotRO and VG I agree VG is the most difficult to level in. However, it's not difficult compared to my EQ days. The curve varies a lot between 1 and 55. 1 through 10 is easy. 11 through 20 you will notice the curve getting harder and 21 through 50 it continues to get harder. Levels 51 through 55 are hell levels, much like the EQ days. Three weeks after Pantheon of the Ancients came out there are quite a few level 51s, some 52s and a very, very small number of 53+. One person made it to 55 in three weeks I think (never left his computer I presume).
I also think people make a strategic 'leveling mistake' when playing Vanguard. And that is, they mind be used to rushing through levels and grinding that they completely miss how fun the Vanguard journey can be. From levels 1 to 50 there is absolutely no need to grind, just enjoy the quests and explore the dungeons and you'll level right along while being able to enjoy the journey.
What is this I hear about a free month for returning players? My account have not been active for a few months but it is still closed. Anyone know what the requirements are to recive this offer? And where I can read about it ?
I loved the game when it came out, but it was buggy as hell & it lost a lot of players. I went back about a year ago & maxxed out my toon.. The population was awful tho.. I think if they added some content & doubled the population the game would be great.. In my opinion its a great game that was released way to early. If they would have waited 6 more months to release the game - it may have gone down as one of the best MMO games ever, but sadly they blew it from the start. I think the game is good enough that if they could get a huge amountt of people back it would thrive, but sadly it seems they dont want to put any money into the game. Its SOE's best game since EQlive, but it took a tuff shot and has not recovered. I hope the game recovers cause i really enjoyed it.

I think people are still seeing the free trial from months ago still on their account. Some who didn't use it then still have it, those who did don't seem to have the free time.
I don't think sony did another round of win back without announcing it.

Not sure what the requirements are but old account holders have recieved a free month. My wife hasn't played in over a year and a half and her account is active. She recieved an email telling her to try vanguard again.
Maybe it is only for people who have not played in awhile??
I mailed them and asked, and your account had to be unactive for 60days or more, very disappointing, think I was on something like 55days. But I love the idea about giving free months, it just makes me feel cheated, although im kinda not. I wish they did it differently, im sure other people who just missed out feels very little appriciated. Oh well happy gaming for those who got it, I hope the subs will increase!

This was the first ever MMO i ever played and i have to stay i loved it, the bugs threw me off they seemed to never get fixed, the lag was atrocious that also never seemed to get fixed, but it was well worth the investment of my 2+ years playing.
If it is worth returning to, maybe iw ill come back before the release of aion.
