I do hope that they add a Mithra Male race . I would love to try that race. I loved the Mithra in the last game and Elvaan when being a thf or sam. But if I were to do a whm/blm or rdm I would do taru hands down.
I was a Galka through and through. And seeing as how they are supposedly bringing a Galka-like character to FFXIV, I must say it made me that much more excited. Galka are like the Yankees (whom I loathe), you love em or you hate em. But, for me I just loved being the big, burly guy. I just wish I could have had the ability to make my galka really fat. Seeing an incredibly fat Galka Monk punching away and doing Dragon Kick would put a smile on my face every time.

New Race probably...I'm liking the idea of the Gria! Normally I'd go with Mithra which its really really hard to say no to a Cat-Girl, but if Male Mithra are added they will be everywhere!
Hume male
i can't say i actually ever played another race in any game whatsoever. I tried tho, but just kept going back to Human-like characters
As for job: i'm still deciding if i go Paladin or Dark Knight (love to play evil-based fantasy chars :P But the Holy good guys can look so damn amazing!

My main was elvaan male and samurai i went for the STR since sam ws were 80% based on STR. I have a feeling galka will be the STR on 14 just by looking at pics and video elvaan look same size as human now and galka stronger and faster.
Anyways I like the elvaans of 11 even tho they didnt look that good in 14 they will be pimping hot i bet so yes elvaan again.
My main in now is Mithra, if there will be a Gria race i will use it.

Taru all the way. It's just awesome to be the small guy, everything just looks so much more epic from that vantage point. Plus they had the best emotes (if you disagree you mustn't of seen there /panic emote yet).

One thing I never could reconcile with 12 was how they had all these cool races but your party members were boring ol humes except for Fran.
I need an interpreter for this....
I always prefer playing human characters, but I choose gender depending on what I feel will be my main build: something like male if I want to be melee or female if I want to be caster. However, most of the time it's the other way around by the time I'm done with the game.
I personally don't like having different stats among races, but I can accept it. I just prefer players choosing their race according to how they want to look, and not how they want to be better at something. My guess is that FFXIV races will have different stats.
Thats one thing I want to see, much more wildly-varied parties. There's gotta the one oddball beast character or demon or something that just doesn't fit at all in the group, and the addition of Bangaas and other neat stuff would fill in the gap where the only really visually different folk were Mithra and Galka.
Yeah Taru and Elves were different too, but thats just standard-faire fantasy. Human, Elegant elf, short humanish thing.
Was a Hume Rdm but I so loved the Mithra and Tarus. I'm too excited to choose.

OK interpreting: in ffxi(final fantasy11 online) higher STR(strength) race were Elvan and as samurai at end game you required more str for more dmg on ws(weapon skill) weapon skills for sam were based 80% on str. Galka in 11 were high VIT and HP and 2nd for STR, I believe in 14 galka will be the STR race from what i have seen so far. Regardless i got to love elvans now so will not go for stats but will choose elvan.
Tarutaru all the way! I might consider one of these Gira characters or whatever (I'm pretty unfamiliar with the FF universe but played FFXI for a couple years when it first came out.)
The taru were very cute and seemed to be loved by all.. many times I could gather small crowds just by doing the panic emote like someone else mentioned... ah good times.
Whatever looks:

I rarely play male chars, i did in FFXI as my main, because Galka was a nono, except on my mule when i randomly harrassed people. Mithra was out, hume was ok but didn't float my boat, taru was cute but I wanted to be tall, so it was Elvaan male (females look funny with their gorilla arms).
Now that ffxiv has updated graphics, hopefully their female elves will look pretty.
Side-rant: all of you closet homos that think males playing female characters is weird needs to reexamine your sexuality. I don't cyber, flirt or act in any way feminine. I don't play mmos to date online... I like to stare at backside and beautifully pixelated hypnotic running while I'm grinding mobs or questing....huhuhuhu.

If we are allowed to change jobs, and if racial stats are a factor, and if hume will be like it was in FFXI, I will be hume again. I like the idea of being average at any jobs i decide to level. I am not a fan of going against the grain, like a galka whm or a taru PLD.
