What are you playing to pass the time until FFXIV launches?

Anything? Nothing? Console game? MMORPG?

Just curious. I myself am bored with most mmorpg's right now, I'm fiddling with WoW again and LOTRO and WAR but ultimately they pale in comparison to any FF. I downloaded some Square Playstation ROMS, namely FFIX(never really got into it as deep as I wanted, RL issues and all that.)

I'm really waiting on Champions Online to at least give me something new to play while I wait this year away. Same with STOR and STO. Once FFXIV comes out though, it will have my full attention.

Anyway, what about the rest of you FF addicts? This anticipation is sweet but it is driving me crazy to have to wait till next year.

Nothing!  just reading the forums everyday and waiting for FFXIV info.  Wish they'd post something about the battle system

What better way to prepare than with FFXI? :D

I'm playing a little strat game I came across called PoxNora, and some 360 games with friends hoping that I can make it to Diablo 3 which can then take me to FFXIV.

I doubt i'll play mmo's, but I may renew my FFXI sub for a bit if I have the time.

Nothing. It's almost summer. Why torture yourself playing games you really don't want to play just to be.. playing?

I'll try AION when the NA release comes out, but not the beta.

    Call of duty II

Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)

I play Civ 4 all of the time and will probably mess with Aion when it releases...  One, to get back in the wing of MMO'ing/PT'ing, and two, to hopefully meet a few cool players who will move with me to XIV when the time comes.  It's hard to admit, but I don't have the social network that I used to have when I played XI (and that was primarily a couple of close RL friends).  It's daunting to think of playing XIV alone.  Curse my shoddy social skills...

I thought about playing FFXI again...but I am one of the players FFXIV is aimed at, I can't sit at my PC for hours on end waiting for a group to pick my job to level with them, all my old friends from when I played before have moved on, so I would feel alone, and again, the CONTROLS, it took me awhile to unlearn the stupid keypad now I have to learn it again? After playing faster movement control games like WoW, LOTRO AOC and WAR, this just isn't possible. FFXI feels OLD to me, even though I am very nostalgic about it and loved it when I played.

Just can't get back into the grind again. Also, to the other poster about it's summer, why play just to play? I have nothing else to do, I'm not very outdoorsy in the summer, me and the sun hate each other. I mean I do some things, picnic, day at the beach, but I don't enjoy the heat at all. I'm an AC junky and I like playing games in the summer. But that's just me.

Isn't it kind of pointless to start playing FFXI knowing that FFXIV is suppose to be release in 2010. FFXI takes forever progress so by the time you begin to get near/hit endgame and start to really enjoy the game  in FFXI, FFXIV will be near release and make all your work obselete.

Because even though FFXI has an end game that not only rivals every other MMO out there and makes them weep in shame, its not at all about that.  Its about the everyday adventures, players you meet along the way, and the stories you form!

See in other MMOs you don't really play with others, and only talk shit in general chat....here you have meaningful and exciting conversations along with the adventures that are quite thought provoking and can be extremely dangerous!

Plus considering that FFXIV is going to be more different than FFXI than many think, it'll still be a great MMO to play on the side along with XIV, or entirely if you end up not liking XIV!

I'm playing LotRO now untill Aion comes out and then I will probably play Aion untill FXIV and/or GW2 comes out. I plan to play both FFXIV an GW2 (assuming GW2 is f2p which they said it was.)

ive juggled the thought of returning to FFXI to kill time but i still have gripes with the char creation after playin so many others lol. but FFXI is still a possibility, and i also will be checking into Aion and potentially champions online. hoping to hold out until FFXIV is released, which i suspect will be a long time.  ill be checking it out for sure though regardless

    Waiting For: FF14,Guild Wars2

I may play Aion or GW2 or SWTOR  after I get my new computer for FF14 but untill then FF11 runs nice on my laptop and I enjoy doing things in FF11. I am playing it as a filler game and its fun knowing i may never end up sitting at one spot waiting three hours for a mob to pop. teehee...

    I heard it was ps3 only. >.<

No FF14 is PC and PS3 only , but that will last 6 months to a year or something,  basically, I believe that Sony made a deal with SE to open on PS3(consoles) only so that it would increase PS3 sales. Whereas, Xbox didnt give any money or something so SE is waiting a certain contracted amount of time untill they give it to xbox too. something like that prolly. money makes the world go round, world go round, world go round

    Call of Duty 2

    Anime

    Reading tech blogs

Downloading stuff from Isohunt to watch (tv shows)

    Talk radio

    Pandora Radio

    Thinking about buying Prototype (Activision)

There are no mmo's out there that interest me right now, If SE would make a NEW FFXI server then that would change.

As of right now taking a break from MMOs. Figure if I go awhile without playing one I might get "that spark" back the next time an awesome MMO hits the market. Until then just rolling though all the Fallout 3 content. Also gonna play though Mass Effect again before ME2 hits. Also Im going into the navy soon so hopefully that'll help pass some time.

Considering returning to LOTRO for the next Bk. 8 Update, but for now I'm busy designing a forums for a future FFXIV Linkshell!  Assuming that's the name Square-Enix will use again...

Quit FFXI like 2 years ago, played WoW since then up till a couple months ago. Passing time in AoC for the past 2 months and until Aion drops. Then I will play Aion till FFXIV releases. If FFXIV sucks the genre will be almost dead to me unless Aion is flat out amazing. Aion looks much better than anything thats come out recently though.

I have been playing Command and Conquer Zero hour. Also, have been playing a lot of Call of Duty lately (World of War). I would have to wait and see. I have been considering on playing FFXI but I wouldnt do it unless I knew some of my friends were willing to jump on. I think it would be fun though just to see how quick I could get to 75.
