Originally posted by Neas we have to distinguish between the two types of farmers:Farmer for Real Life money, Is PAID to farm aka Sleezball Farmer for In game currency aka FarmerJohnSo if there is only a few SleezBalls then fine it wont affect the economoy, but if there was 10% of online players being Sleezballs then it would affect the economy as they would add gold equivalent to about 5 times the amount a normal player would add to the server. (normal player dont play 24/7 farming mobs... they quest, chat, go on raid etc). It would affect the economy.Over time the affect will build up helping the general game inflation.Theres always gonna be FarmerJohn Farmers but the SleezBalls DON'T have to be there and WOULDN'T be there if there was no dollar -> gold trading going on. But there is a demand for it so they supply it. More and more people will jump on the bandwagon as instanced by nm8 joining IGE as one of the website traders of WoW gold ^ ^. All im saying is i dont want to have to compete with little Jimmy who has his daddy's CC and can buy 250 GOLD when i would only ever dream of amounting that much.Basically it boils down to cheating heh. Buying online money is generally cheating in my eyes. You didn't earn it or work for it in game. Same with buying a character at lvl 60 (which i might add is on ebay atm :P ). I dont see the novelty some people get from buying these things heh, they are more likely to leave because they don't have a feeling of ownership. Can we stop the silly argument about the Paid 2 Play Gold Farmers Now and agree on one thing?: They are not in any way good for a game economy. Even if the effect is small it is unfair for people to be able to buy money from these places. Finaly you see what I meant. You need a large number of people farming to sell. however, that 10% u mention, where are they gonna come from? So far we have seen a single SPAM email, which to me looks more like a SCAM then a real trade. The point of the argument in my view is NOT to start panic about runined aconomy and such. The person who created this post did the right thing to bring this SCAM to attention, but all other people who reply with posts like "economy is going down" or "Iknew this will happen, now WoW economy is ruined" should not do so becuase all they do is add up to the panic. New people who dont know much about economy or general gameplay in MMORPG wil take their post as a legit concern and help spread the panic. Next thing you know, a lot of people are quitting because of "rumors" from a "valid source" that economy is going down and such. I wasnt trying to justify farmers for money, i personaly dont farm becuase its boring. I keep going into deamines becuase i want to get 2 more pieces of blackened defias armor, I am do not call that "farming". Once i get all pieces, I move on to next zone. To summarize this argument: Scammers will always try to scam people out of their money. Even if that email was not a scam, and that person is honest enough to give gold for your cash, even then, its illegal, and Blizzard will put an end to that. So you people should have no worries whatsoever about ruined economy. Report any scams like that and let blizzard do their job of eliminating all those who break the law. Thank you

I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.
With WoW there is a large enough population to not make it a huge impact but what worries me is the IGE and num8 offer gold on any of the 88 servers. That means theres at least a few people on each of those servers farming away to sell.
Its just unknown how many and how many will do it.
I just wish the economy was sealed but o well i believe because of WoW size it wont be much of a problem. Also ill be on a EU PVP server so hopefully the market for online trading wont be as huge and we wont get as many people farming for real life cash.

In my opinion, the fact that they offer their services on all servers, combined with lack of grammar proves that its no more then a SCAM.

It'll be really hard to ruin this economy. One reason is that it does not totally rely on the auction houses to set prices. I have been playing for two weeks and haven't visited the AH yet. I could care less what the going rate is for something. The vendors who I buy my stuff off of give constant prices that will only go down as your reputation goes up.
Another reason is that all of the elite equipment in the game is soulbound, meaning you can not put up an uber piece of armor at the AH. You can only sell it back to vendors for the set price.
Now this is not saying that it could make the game very unbalanced for the few players who utilize such services. It will be exceptionally easy for them to reach the end game content. But how does that effect me? I still get to quest along at my own pace, enjoying every bit of Azeroth along the way.
U shouldnt buy stuff from vendors, except maybe reagents or components to make items. I dont buy anything from vendors, not even food/drinks. Although I do not like the current Ah, its still a much cheaper way to purchase items then NPC vendors. I wish there was a way to have more control over bids/auctions EX: remotely controlling your bid.

You have to buy shr00ms from duskwood for your turtles! turtles loves shr00ms.
And I agree on the remote supervision of your bids/auctions at AH, it's not like it would strive against the game mechanics, Azeroth is already a hi-tech place with the deeprun tram.
ROFL. I agree, horde is in the stoneage. Goblins do have some nice toys but they are far behind us gnomes. I mean, we have tanks! Mechanized infantry !!! woohoo Next project is Gnome-to-Goblin or Gnome-to-Orc missiles

That'll teach you to always read anything you submit. If I'm not mistaken, when I registered for mmorpg.com, there was a check box that asked if you wanted mmorpg.com to contact you by email for news and crap like that. I unchecked it. No spam. Reading helps before clicking on anything.
