Ruh roh, here comes the retard fanboi brigade and their trusty weapons "Strawman" and "Hype".
That's right, because everyone who likes something is now a fanboi, and liking stuff sucks. If you want to be cool and fit in with the new crowd, you have to hate things.
All i can say is that I am gald you find Aion a good game you can enjoy. For me its the first MMO in long time that cause me to yawn in utter boredom while watching some pride PVP footage on youtube. (and i even loved WAR pvp clips posted on youtube before the game came out) So make your androgenic teenage girl lookalike boy avatar. Spread your wings and fly to yet again kill 20 generic cutesy creatures. Repeat it hundred times to level... do the same thing you did before but dressed in new pixels. Enjoy

This troll hates my game, now what I am I supposed to do??
You must lash back, call him names, and make unsavory comments about his mother...

Lol dont worry about it mate, the OP hated VG,now not because of the well detailed problems or anything like that, ohh no.
The op hated VG because you could not stack your attacks,as in hit keys 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and just sit back and watch the attacks 1 after the other.
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"
Having played almost every MMO that has come out over the years and even the ones before the term MMO became vogue I don't regret spending my money on any of them.
Each and everyone was written and developed by a group of people that thought they had something fun and interesting to bring to the market and they tried their best. The fact that many of them failed for all kinds of reasons from being too ambitious to being too underfunded doesn't change the fact that they each one had or has its good points and bad.
Some of the games I have played longer than others and some I found hard to get enthusiastic about but all of them even games like Vanguard which is THE example of being both too ambitious and underfunded when it first came out were interesting to explore and learn in.
I'm looking forward to Aion because I like their ideas about character configuration and design. Yeah the quests may need some work and for those of us that actually do read what pops up the screen this is important but for a lot of people they could have kept the text in Korean for all that it matters.
Do I expect Aion to be perfect and wonderful? Nope. Do I hope to spend a bit of time running around and trying things that are a bit different? Yep.
The people that complain about a lack of originality aren't being very original themselves and besides everything builds on what has gone before.
All I am looking for in a computer game is just a little bit of fun and a nice way to spend a few hours in the evening. If I wanted something new and original I would go take up sky diving or shark fishing.

No stacking attacks? When will I have time to shove a box of Cheetos down my gullet? You mean I'm going to have to PAY ATTENTION? OMG, what a horrible game...
Exactly what MMOs released in the last two years were both ground breaking and are not currently on life support?
Just going through the MMORPG .com Reader's Choice nominees for 2006 and 2008 (2007 was skipped it seems) leaves us with:
Age of Conan - Combo system for melee attacks and character classes different from the normal archetypes. Missing numerous core features at launch, including a few advertised on the box.
Aion - Well, its what you're here saying is completely unoriginal. Heavy emphasis on aerial combat is sort of new, as is the inclusion of a third NPC faction to balance RvR.
Champions Online - Not released yet.
Chronicles of Spellborn - New, original combat. Just a disastrous choice in publishers and a painfully low server population.
Darkfall - Take UO, port it to a 3D client, and then slap in some L2 sieges and dram. There's probably other things in there as well, but its certainly not all that was promised.
Earthrise - Not released yet.
Jumpgate Evolution - Not out yet.
Lord of the Rings Online - Missing pretty much all end game content on release. No new features I can think of, but doing quite well regardless. Probably the most successful on this list?
Pirates of the Burning Sea - I think this game qualifies as being on life support right now. I think the ship combat mechanics are supposed to be new, but I'm very fuzzy on the details to evaluate it.
Runes of Magic - Usually described as "The F2P WoW". Its as original as that title sounds.
Stargate Worlds - Its looking increasingly unlikely this will ever see the light of day.
Star Trek Online - Still in production after the studio initially producing it folded.
Vanguard - Not a successful release by most measures. The diplomacy features were the only new thing I remember hearing about it, its website right now certainly isn't clearly pushing any new features as a reason to try it.
Warhammer Online - Public quests and the ability to PvP from level 1. Of course, it also has one of the least stable servers and clients of all the AAA MMOs.
Of the titles that actually have seen release, where's the ground breaking? A number of the new titles, yet to be released, have promised new, ground breaking features. Of course, so did a lot of the games already released, they just failed to deliver.
OP is a n00b. Have you played Linage 2 before? Have you even played the first lineage? Do you know how long those games have been out before WoW and all the other games you "claim" to have played. Aion clones Lineage 2 and some other ideas from other games that "work", "work" meaning what people want/like. That's how you attract customers and make money. Yes it has wings, and? the idea works and if it attacts people, great! I hate you and your kind comparing everything to WoW, you should be r*ped by 100 men.
I really hate the newer generation crowd, they should've stuck with console.
@Sovrath: That was an amazingly well written post there, and I totally agree. Really nothing else to say in the thread.
@Lobotomist: Coming from a guy who wants to boycott L4D2 (lol) I can't take you seriously. Just as Sovrath said, you're one of those guys who will never be happy because your perfect MMO can NEVER HAPPEN. Really, I would just stop with the genre all together.
Of course sadly that seems like what half of these forums are made up of, guy's like Lobo who will never be satisfied with any game aside from their first (usually UO or SWG or something). And yeah, the term "WoW Clone" is the most annoying thing to hear.
Here is my two cents In past few years my MMO addiction forced me to test, buy and play most every AA MMO released. From SWG to WOW, from Vanguard to Potbs, From Lotro to Tabula Rasa, and from AOC to WAR... Most of them I regret waisting my money on. But each time a new MMO is release i fall into the hype , wishfull thinking and I cave in and buy. I must say I am happy this is absolutely not case with Aion.
Watching clips about Aion , and reading about it - makes me want to mentally vomit.
4 years now we seen endless stream of WOW clones. And while all of them were pathetic in their own right. At least they tried to do something original. But what is Aion ? How does it stand out from the crowd? WINGS! Yes. You want to know about aion ? Well you know its like WOW, but you get wings. And the graphic is better.
I can not blame NCsoft for trying. They have money and will to make sucesfull MMO. And they want to have a sure shot. And what can be more sure than generic clone 101 of a game that captured millions.
For the sake of you that are going to buy this game. I just hope Aion is damn good. And polished as diamond. Cause where is the logic of buying a copy that is worse than original ?
I think you should be a comedian insted of a Troll, it would suit you better.....

100% agree, other than the ass-r*pe. Well, maybe that, too.
The best games build on what came before, add a few cool features, and polish it up. Trying to be all original in the mmo universe usually is keyword for shit game. Whenever I see someone talking about "ground-breaking", or "originality", I cringe in fear of what steaming pile is gonna come out of their ass.
You want originality? get a console or make your own damn game. Just please stop being a shit saying a game sucks just because it doesn't reach out of the screen and blow you.

Where is he attacking anyone? He's making a facetious comment about a behavior that seems to apply to many people these days, especially around here. People are so "attached" to and sensitive about their own points-of-view, likes and dislikes, that anyone posting even the slightest disagreement is labeled a "troll" or "hater" or "fanboy", etc. etc.

Well, first of all, thanks to those who made their nice comments. Always appreciated of course.
Now lobotomist, you bring up a very good point with your above statement and it needs to be addressed.
I'm sure (and yes "sure") that everyone who played the Aion beta collected x amount of crawler snouts and y amount of 2 day sparky wings. You are completely on when you approach that type of thing with at best a sceptical eye.
However, that is taking the game and and boiling it down to its lowest common denominator. To that end, if someone said "hey, I just can't stand kill quests and if I have to go running to deliver something one more time I'm going to claw my tongue out with my foot I would say "then you might want to stay away from Aion".
After all, these quests are there. We've done them. You are on point with that.
However, those who are looking forward to Aion are acknowledging these game design choices with a knowing roll of the eyes and a "ok, np, I'll bite" type of attitude with the hopes that it will lead to not only an interesting RvR experience but also unveil the greater story line, much like LOTRO's main story is the thrust of the game.
I'm pretty sure there is not a hardcore pvp'er (or any for that matter) who is approaching Aion with an "oh boy, I get to kill snails" attitude.
But they are looking at all of that as a means to an end. Would we rather have some other way to advance our character? Probably but from the start NC said they were making a traditional mmo with a unique (as much as any story can be unique) story and premise and with a certain style of pvp interaction.
So if one can get by all the drudgery (if they think it's drudgery, I find grinding relaxing with good music and a good beer or wine) then maybe it will reward them with a fun and exciting game. I don't think for one minute anyone is jumping for joy over killing or collecting just for the sake of it. Just like in LOTRO, if you don't read the text then the collect x quests will just drive you nuts.
but it's sort of about keeping an eye on the prize and putting up with some things for some better things. I hate to say it but in some respects that's a bit like life anyways.
Listen, when I go to an action movie I pretty much know what's going to happen. the surprises are usually not so subtle. but If I can put my mind into the spirit of the thing ( and I do ) then I can have a good time and enjoy the experience for the light hearted entertainment it is.
Otherwise I just wouldn't go. Life is too short.

I dunno Lobo, you're losing your edge, this OP was uncharacteristically trollish of you.
As you said, you haven't played the game, and you know right up front that it wasn't designed to be an earthbreaking game.
That's not NC's trademark, they tend to copy the big dog in the marketplace and try to improve on it, sort of like they did years ago when they copied/improved on UO to make Lineage. (though its debateable if it was an improvement I realize)

Worse than the original? Are you calling WoW the original? If so, as 'unoriginal' as this genre is, I have found both of my beta experiences to be fun, and fun is all that matters right now given how stale the genre really is.
I just honestly want to know how fans of this can agrue how its different than the 200 other korean MMOs.
- Artsy fartsy anima characters
- Cut-paste quests from every single mmo ever
- A open pvp sytem similar to war, daoc, plus 50 korean grinders with it
- Raids
Seriously, why pay for this? The same shit is in 100 other games. If I took an Aion gameplay video and showed it to 15 friends who play MMOs they would say, "Ha, nice korean grinder."
Haha Man. As the MMO genre becomes more and more pathetic. So do the fanbois. What a tantrum you fall in if somebody simply expresses an oppinion. Amusing.
And to inteligent poster above that made comment about Vanguard. And stacking skills
It takes a special kind of genius. Not only to misread and misunderstand a post, but to remember what you didnt understand for two years. Man you should be given a medal. If only they would give medals for stupidity !
And hehe. For all of you upset about L4D2 boycott. Well it figures that same people that think Aion is original, also think L4D2 is a great deal.
Hehe. I bet man could sell you stinky gym socks wraped around stick , and tell you its french cheese corn dog Original !
Good bless your open wallets
When I read this post I get the feeling you havent even played half of the mmo´s I played. People never said Aion is original and neither is Vanguard, since its a bad copy of everquest 2. And we can argue about this all day. Atleast Aion dont even have 10 % of the bugs that was in Vanguard live and retail version. And if medals was given for stupidity you would sure get one. And one big hurray for Vanguard for being playable after 2 years. But an mmo needs a good player base to be seen as a good mmo also I think. Who want to be in a mmo with hardly any real people in it? For the moment I know Aion will have a strong player base and I like playing it, and that is what matters... How fun you have playing a game! Not how original it is, when it comes to mmo no game today is original so just drop it. And I can see youre a big fan of Vanguard, take a real good look at the characters in Vanguard and you will see how dead they look, no charisma or personality. But in Aion on the otherhand they look alive got plenty of charisma and look very much alive, which makes the world of Aion more fun to be in. And that was just one example. No matter how much you try to shine a turd it will still be shit. But I am not here to lecture fanbois of Vanguard trashing Aion for not being original, I will spend that time having fun in Aion. So good luck.

If this game had anything else it would be as simple as saying it. Thanks for proving my point.
I'd tend to agree to the OP. At this point the MMO-industry is "polishing turds". Many players out there are looking for something new and exciting. I tried AION out... more polishing turds. Oh don't get me wrong, it will be shiny but come on guys, it's still a turd.

This thread is retarded. Aion does something very origional. It has transforming weapons and transforming armor. It's f%^$ing sick.

Try the game longer than to level 5 and you might find out.
