We always read this about a new MMO coming out. I like how 1st post says 3.5m then later 6m. Yet we all know MMO's lie about who many play. We never read 3.5 m SUBS as of RIGHT NOW! Yet looking back post after post said blah blah mmo will KILL WOW!
Freerealms post 3.5 million playing. Oh and we ALL know most here are reg and playing .. well SOE says we are.. LMAO..
So Aion or any other mmo for that matter would have to 4+ years later have 9-11 million playing then come say its killed WOW. Even if Aion had 15million playing now.. it didnt kill WOW.. Yet we also know Blizzard could care less anymore. They are looking ahead not behind.
Aion is to small, has that free to play feel all over it. two starting areas, one for each side that lamo are mirror images of the other. The graphics engine is already dated (old) for a NEW mmo .. how sad is that. In the official forums haha we read post from gold sellers. NCSOFT lacks the power, money to stop hacks, chat, blah blah in ANY of there other mmos, GMs? Yeah .. Aion will be different huh..
Wrath isn't out over there yet, is it? I imagine that has something to do with it too. The high Aion numbers I mean. I'm not big into PvP so Aion offers nothing for me.... bummer.
Z
Also, you can play and enjoy Aion from beginning to end and never set foot in the Abyss or random pvp zones, though you might be unfortunate enough to be in an area that randomly spawns a portal from time to time. Other than portals (which keep each race temporary access to the other side) which are rare and random, PvP is not something thrown in your face. It's a very large part of the game, yes, but the gear you get from PvPing in the Abyss is ~MADE~ for PvP. Go to the Aion Armoury and look at the Abyss gear, you'll see that it's made specifically for PvP with lower stats but a % bonus to attacks against PCs (player characters), meaning you will not be gimped against monsters or PvE content if you don't use PvP gear. In fact, PvP gear is actually worse for PvE content than the gear you get from crafting which, except for extremely rare and unique gear, is the most powerful equipment currently available.
So, if you're not into PvP, no worries. The game is designed to appeal to the masses, PvP is entirely optional.

Your post lacks sense for many reasons. First off, there are billions of people in this world, and while online gaming doesn't stretch to the majority of that, it encompasses enough in this day and age that 3 million subs here and there shouldn't be a surprise. It's actually a very small number in the scheme of things. America alone (if I remember correctly) holds about 1/6th of the world's population, and thanks to games like WoW many people not previously into gaming have come to embrace it.
Secondly, Aion is hardly small. That you would even suggest that makes it obvious you played, at most, the beta tests which limit your level and the places you can go, as these are purely designed to stress test, test localization and to give people a 'taste' of the game, not the entire thing. The starting zones are large enough to be their own maps, and as for there being "only two" there are only two races...why would you need more starting areas for that? You're not supposed to be in a starting zone for very long. It's just...the start. Not sure why that would be a complaint. As for posts from gold sellers in the official forums, that's curious since Aion does not yet have any official forums. If you're referring to the asian version of the game, they're not very good at controlling gold sellers so that should not come as a surprise. I'll grant you NCSoft has a bad reputation with bots and gold sellers though, I can only hope it doesn't go the way of L2, but since Aion is designed with more accessability (less grind for exp/items/gold) everyone is more than able to achieve their goals on their own so I don't think there will be as much DEMAND for services from outside sources.
As for dated graphics, not going to bother going there.

Why is there a need to kill WOW? Just relax and let Blizzard continue to do it...
WOW will still be around after all the aion/lineage-alike be dead and buried, in others words....2 or 3 years.
Why do ppl only see numbers?
OMG WOW has 12m ppl playin, im gonna play WOW!
Take a look at EVE, all those happy 50.000 ppl playing and having fun, i dont play WOW because it has 999m players or because has drop from the 1m barrier.
I play it because is by far the best mmorpg out there!
So, "will i still play WOW" after aion is out? U bet i will!
This game isn't going to kill WoW. TOR isn't going to kill WoW. Aion, and I don't mean this in a bad way, is too much like the other Asian games I've played. Why pay when I came play the same crap for free. Could be part of the reason it's doing really good over there. Over here I think it'll be a totally different story. The only things that will kill WoW are time or Blizzards new MMO. They may sell a lot of boxes, but so did WAR, Conan, etc.
Question 2: I don't play WoW no, so I wouldn't continue anything.
Disclaimer: Nothing was meant as trolling. I just pre-ordered Aion a few days ago. I'm willing to give it a fair shake on release.
I pre-ordered Aion and you couldn't pay me to play WoW but Aion will never kill WoW. Nothing will kill WoW except Blizzard. Too many people like it. Too much money is flooding in for Blizzard to kill it so WoW will always be around. Get used to it.
Aion is killing WoW in Asia. It has more than 3,5m subscribers in Korea/China and is 6 month old (2 months in China) , it isn't released in Taiwan, Japan and all the western countries. This game is going to get more subscribers than WoW worldwilde. Will you still play WoW?
No, it's not killing anything. That implies that it will then "kill" it.
Even if WoW lost half of it's subscribers (which I highly doubt as though Aion has its fans, myself included, there are many people who don't like it) it would still have millions of subscribers.
If games like EQ, UO and DAOC are still around after all these years I highly suspect that WoW won't be "killed'.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
So one game get's more subscriptions than another, it automatically kills it? I don't understand. Why isn't Everquest dead? Or any other MMO for that matter?
Exactly. Thank you.

Well if asians switch to Aion, is actually good news for WoW: - no more kiddies creating blood elves because they look anime - no more asian gold farmers spamming general chat - no more kiddie gold beggars
So yes! Go Aion! Gather up as much anime-loving kiddie n00bs! PLEASE!!!!
LOL @! Beermangler. Why do you assume all asians are blood elves and gold beggers? That's the stupidest shit I've heard when talking about asians and MMOs. Gold farmers aren't going to leave WoW because of Aion either, that's stupid. If they've been infesting F2P games, why the hell would they leave WoW?
As for Aion killing WoW... It won't happen. If it does, I will be amazed.
Wrath isn't out over there yet, is it? I imagine that has something to do with it too. The high Aion numbers I mean. I'm not big into PvP so Aion offers nothing for me.... bummer.

Really? Now that would be nice. God knows I need something to play right now! lol. I thought it was mostly PvP after level 20 or so. I guess I should spend more time looking into it, hehe. Thanks for the heads up!
Why would anyone care? Play WoW, play Aion.... What difference does it make? <shakes head in bewilderment>
You know, I've been asking myself that question for a long time since I'm someone who often switches between a handful of MMOs depending on my mood; however, my so-called "friends" within these MMOs treat me as if I'm some sort of a criminal every time I "defect to the enemy." For example, when I wanted to try WAR when it launched, my WoW guild nearly quit speaking to me. I even asked one of my guildmates why she cared so much since I would come back eventually anyway, and she stated that WoW was the only MMO in which she felt that "accomplishments" held any intrinsic value (*facepalms*) and couldn't understand why I'd want to leave. (Whatever happened to playing a game for "fun"?) I told her that it's a merely game and she needs to take a step back, but some people are so absorbed that they become delusional, and this is why they become polarized in their opinions when it comes to playing an MMO (the colloquial "fanboy" mentality), and so they continue to play the game even when it loses its luster, refusing to even try another game. (This doesn't apply to everyone, but definitely to some individuals, such as the woman I described. She even admitted that she would like to play another game, but that she felt it would be "wrong" to do so. She also sacrificed attending college for the sake of the game, in addition to quitting her job at one point. Okaaay.)
Basically, I believe that certain individuals who play MMOs seem to view them in the same manner as some social institutions (e.g. college or professional sports), which engenders extreme feelings of motivation, competitiveness, loyalty (hence the inability to try another MMO), etcetera. While I think that anjyone who engages in playing an MMO does so for socialization (e.g. someone who seeks to cultivate friendships) and/or competitive purposes (yes, I realize that competition is a form of socialization, but it's not quite the same as forming an association of "friends" in some people's minds), the obsessive player takes all of this to the next level, to the point where the video game is no longer a game, but a true "virtual" version of reality in their minds.
When I purchased an Xbox 360 a few months ago, I kind of laughed at the thought of becoming as obsessed with a console game as some people are with an MMO, but in reality, I don't see how progress in one type of video game is more inherently valuable than another -- it should be based upon the enjoyment which we derive from playing a game. Eventually all of these MMOs will shut down and we'll be left with nothing but our memories of playing anyway (it's not as if we're being paid a salary to play them, unlike professional sports), so why not play something which is enjoyable at least?
(Note that I'm just stating my opinion, so don't start bitching at me, asking for a statistical quotes, okay?)
All right; I've digressed enough here, but the last thing I'd like to say in relation to the OP is that he/she is obviously trolling, which is why I won't even deign to make a comment about the topic.

Abyss is a PvPvE area, but on your own continents you will also find high-level PvE content in which the PvP is much more restricted (the Rifts limit the transition of enemy players in quantity, maximum level and luck of finding an open rift, so it's not a simple gank fest as you'd find in most of the MMOs around that have a need for PvP-limited servers or Free-PvP servers, like WoW in this case).
You can actually have an enjoyable experience in Aion without living in the Abyss.
People really need to stop waiting for WoW killers. The only thing that will kill WoW is people playing it and deciding they don't like it. Personally i wouldn't mind WoW taking the people they have and living forever and keeping most of them out of my current mmo. Aion is going to be a great game, WoW will live for a long long time, and almost nothing will change that.
On a side note if you choose to play a game simply for the amount of people subscribed to it then you have a horrible way of picking a games.
Aion won't kill WoW. Neither will The Old Republic. And guess what, neither will whatever next-gen MMO Blizzard is working on. Too many people are entrenched in WoW and enjoying it. They're not going to jump ship for the new bright/shiny because they're not game-hoppers and they have years invested in their WoW experience.
Aion is killing WoW in Asia. It has more than 3,5m subscribers in Korea/China and is 6 month old (2 months in China) , it isn't released in Taiwan, Japan and all the western countries. This game is going to get more subscribers than WoW worldwilde. Will you still play WoW?
what are you going to do when FF kills aion? and no, its not going to kill anything..
Lmao. There is no WoW-killer.

I'll play FF if this game is better. See I'm not an Aion fanboi.
On a side note if you choose to play a game simply for the amount of people subscribed to it then you have a horrible way of picking a games.
If you played a game that shut down due to a lack of subscriptions (e.g. Tabula Rasa), then you become paranoid about playing low-population games.
But unless it's NCSoft, I wouldn't worry too much, as they seem to have a much greater penchant for closing down a game that isn't generating enough revenue.

Really? Now that would be nice. God knows I need something to play right now! lol. I thought it was mostly PvP after level 20 or so. I guess I should spend more time looking into it, hehe. Thanks for the heads up!

I don't feel good talking about Aion in the WoW forums, but what he said seems true according to the new Q&A on Aion http://www.gameinformer.com/News/Story/200906/N09.0624.1142.34905.htm?Page=1
Lmao.
There is no WoW-killer.
what are you going to do when FF kills aion? and no, its not going to kill anything..
only time and maybe wow willl ever kill wow.
what are you going to do when FF kills aion? and no, its not going to kill anything..
I'll play FF if this game is better. See I'm not an Aion fanboi.
