I'm going to be resubbing this month to give it a try. I kind of liked it at release but after they completely destroyed my necro due to whining I lost faith, time to give them another chance.

There is a rumour going around that after 1.05 Funcom planned some "welcome back"-trials for old accounts, maybe it's even confirmed by now.
So I'm not going to resub, but will wait a few weeks. Maybe Funcom will start these trials anytime soon.
Browsing the official forums it looks like people are quite happy or at least open minded to their class changes. It may take a while until the players get the full scope of this patch. Funniest bug is that alot of them claimed their free 50 char, created that character and when they landed on the beach in the intro, they had a totaly different class! Deleting that char, the one time option to create a free 50 was used and left. Some petitioned the problem and got told that Funcom can't help them with that.
*edit: seems like the class switches to whatever when one changes the gender of that char while creating it.
I've had a problem kinda of like this. I didn't start on the island, but every time I load up the game, my new lvl 50 has a different hair style. It's kind of weird, but not game breaking. Almost entertaining.
Hey TSW Players http://www.unfair.co/ for Mission guides, Lore Locations and stuff....
I was going to resub my Bear Shaman last night (Lvl 51) until I read the class forums for the BS. Apparently they have completly destroyed the BS class to uslessness.
If you believe the forums it seems every class is broken to all hell. Now I know it natural for people to moan, every one hates nerfs and every one loves buffs. But the level of dissastisfaction seems particularly high. I'm inclined to have another go but still have reservations.

well, every class claim that they have been nerfed and totally destroyed, same for PoMs same for Sins same for Rangers same for Guards etc...
the reality is: in general every class got nerfed at some level or lost an ability but gained something else directly or indirectly, you just need to look at the broader picture and get a correct feat build.
the only one char of mine i tryied yesterday was my lvl40 demo since it was a low level and i could give it a quick build, didnt notice much of a diffrence but i certanly can kill single foes faster now, however, multiple NPCs can own me way too fast than they used to do in pre 1.05. im gonna try other builds and try to get more splash damage skills and see what happens...

I spent the majority of the night on my DT. DTs are pretty good atm. I tried out the PoM a little. Sacred fire was pretty heavily nerfed, but overall PoM was fine ( took some respecs). i will try out the Bear Shammy tonight.
I wouldn't sweat the ohmygawd my class has been ruined posts, that is going to happen every time a MMO company has a big patch the some of the other bugs though......
If I wasn't so busy with Eve and LoTRO at the moment I would give the free trial a go just to see the changes. As Krewel pointed out earlier in the thread this was a needed change, although I do think it is too little too late to transform it into a major player in the MMO field.
Im gonna have to postpone my impressions for a extra day.
I got too much to get off my chest to speak about this 1.05 that I have to go , and WILL go in extreme detail as to way this is not
AOC.
so for anyone who gives a flying hell, stick around, because you are going to be reading so much text you would think your back reading a college term paper.
meh...i have fun still, there are more than enough players on my server, the box is dirt cheap, and it is by far the most beautiful game out as far as graphics/scenery go....but people who played a year ago and dont play anymore think the game is a total failure.
I have been halfassingly been paying attention to the patch updates meself, i noticed that they got rid of that damn annoying bug with your minimap going grey for no reason. The game is great imo, i just played WoW instead. I hope things are different im gunna try to install and play (doubt my old lvl 38 necro is still around i played him at launch) since i quit 2 weeks into launch....

Well, I decided now would be as good a time as any to give AoC my third and final go (I gave VG 3 chances, so I can give AoC the same).
I've been resubbed since around 8am est this morning and have now played about 6 hours (Lunch break, smoke breaks, etc.) .
I've checked out a bit of the Commons, and popped into Attilus' Mansion for a quick run through. I also created my level 50, which started with a gold piece, a handful of silver and some green equipment (pretty cool). DX10 is running slightly smoother, but it isn't nearly as optimized as I expected it to be after the amount of time its been on live (Have they not tweaked it at all since popping it on to live, well, besides a bit in 1.05?).
The guild city looks a little more city like with a few townspeople and whores hanging around. It looks like they changed the positions of buildings yet again (I hate when they do that lol).
PvE combat feels, eh, slightly slower and less responsive on my demo then pre-1.05 (Havoc specced, just as I've been since launch). I haven't had a chance to hit any PvP yet, so I can't coment on that.
As of right now I'm just not feeling it. In a way I'm glad I resubbed to check it out, but at the same time I'm sort of regretting the $15 (Yeah, I got laid off and that $15 could have been used towards a new game ... or a bottle of beam :P).
Don't you worry, the bashing will most likely continue (after all, it's mmorpg.com). In AoC's case I have the impression that a lot of the bashers are people who generally felt tricked when the game did not deliver what they expected, and especially because of the problems the game suffered in the weeks and months after release, so it has little to do with how the game is now. Actually, I think the worst case scenario for the most bitter ones is if the game keeps improving like it has. If it went under, then at least they get a sense of revenge, and the old "I told you so". Most bashers have long gone though. We only get to enjoy some of the more hard-core ones.
I wasn't trying to bash at all, I was just giving my honest opinion about what I've experienced so far with AoC 1.05.
And, as I stated previously, I'm just not feeling it. Which saddens me a great deal as I've watched this game for years, and I was as hyped up about it as anyone. I had some high hopes for 1.05, but so far it doesn't seem any different (perhaps a little slower) now than it did back when I resubbed in Feb for 1.04.
If they released a "welcome back" sort of promo I would give it another shot, as I did WAR when they did theirs, because I'd love to give it a try but I don't want to waste any money.
Whats to worry about? Soon as there new MMO is released (the secret world) AoC will be taken off-line. They made the cash they needed at launch. Now AoC is on life support milking subs until TSO is released, and the cycle will start anew, because funcom is excellent in hyping up a game and making a killing off the first month.

this patch has been on test live for a long time now, i think people kind of know what to expect and bugs will not surface magically on live. anyways, so far, the transition from test live to the production servers looks ok, and no issues have been reported yet.
a quick look at the official forums would prove otherwise
i dont know who you think you are kidding. yourself, maybe? i just looked at the forum for less than 5 minutes and found complaint after complaint thread on the patch. you may want to walk out of denial and look at it again.

Most of the threads are positive (strange in the forum of any game ... even the best ones) and people in game are having fun. You DO read what they are saying in the chat channels don't you? I mean, I just know your not some lamer that bashes a game after a big patch your not not even playing right? Have you noticed that the world seems very busy right now? Maybe people are re-rolling from scratch to check it out but there are tons of people running around all over the place. Are you playing a high level char or did you also start from scratch?

positive? You have got to be kidding me ROFL. I could see using the word hopeful because the only ones left playing are the hard core fans of the game and have gotten used to putting up[ with about anything, but I would hardly call those threads positive.
I think a couple of people nailed it, in that no one really gives a rats butt about AoC anymore. It had it's moment but it was a brief one at best.
